  1. $700 thats a chunk of change. I dont know if their worth that but I dont think theyd fit. The upper wings would hit the window most likely.
  2. Check on page one and 2 for pictures. With a smaller front opening wouldnt there be less pressure infront of the radiator and therefore less air flow through the radiator? I think the biggest thing is determining if the pocket of high pressure in the radiator opening diverts air flow around the front of the car. If it does then leaving it the same size and only controling the air flow to go in to the radiator is the only problem. If not then you need to find a way to make the opening smaller. (possibly my grill block off plate thing.)
  3. Just a small piece of advice, make your son put time into the car so he learns to appreciate it. You dont want someone to get injured or have your son get a huge ticket. Im 16 and I know how us yougins think. Were not to smart, and a 1 year veteran driver with a 13 second car isnt really safe. Anyways look for the member 74_5.0_Z or something to that extent.
  4. I just didnt like how far the grill went down. The other grill I have is only 4 bars tall compared to 6 or 7. My opinion is that the air going into the radiator opening will be slowed down considerably. (your 50mph and 15mph analogy) But at a certain point their is so much pressure in the front of the radiator opening that the most of the air that is headed for the opening is diverted around because of the pocket of high pressure air. Only the amount of air that makes it through the radiator in a second is going into the opening. (kinda like a exhaust cutout that has a cap on it. The pipe with the cap will fill up with exhaust gases and so the gases will continue to flow out the back of the exhaust.) Seems logical but might not be right.
  5. Well my original potatoe gun was using Nitro methane and compressed air. So in a sence it was a supercharged/turbocharged nitro potato gun. I had a hard time keeping the potato together. Ive been looking around town for a reducer from the 10 inch down to a 5 inch but have been unsuccessful. I still have a few other places so Im hoping Ill find something. Woldson any ideas where to look?
  6. Welcome, I think this sight is great to. All the other forums seem so boring and sometimes negative. Sounds like a cool project, there are a couple others on the forum that have done this I believe. If anyone gives you a hard time about not owning a Z tell them where to go...
  7. Im going to try going to another shop that is a bit larger. Ill then be able to get all the locks keyed for the same key. Thanks
  8. Well I decided that I wont be using the grill and block off piece I made. Anyone want it? $15 + shipping will take it.... Its painted with undercoating and looks nice.
  9. Yes by themselves a 11 year old WILL screw things up, but with a dad or grandfathers help it can really help them learn to be mature. You learn to appreciate the car. I have learned alot from having my car, not just things about cars, and it has kept me out of serious trouble. But yes dont buy a brand new car for a 11 year old. Buy him a piece of junk that he can tinker on and make mistakes on. Thats what my Z was supposed to be and as I got older and learned more about cars and what cars I like I took it more seriously and decided that my Z was what I wanted to drive.
  10. I love that Hurricane manifold. Is it available only for the SBC's or say a 318/360? I had a friend that built his own Efi for a Jag 6cyl hot rod. Ill have to ask him how he did it.
  11. Personally I think mine/Zr8ed's design would be the simplest to do and still do the job, there arent any complex curves, or bends. But it doesnt mean anything if its easy to make if it doesnt work so Ill have to wait awhile to see. Im not sure on what your duct, or the 15 degrees is refering to. Also the need for 2 ducts.
  12. Then did this locksmith just not have the faceplates/caps. Are the faceplates/caps still able to be bought?
  13. Well I took my locks to a lockssmith and they said they couldnt rekey them because the face is pressed on. Anyone have this result? Im needing to get my locks fixed pretty quick because theyre holding me back from reassembly.
  14. Yeah I was experimenting with the barrel length. The length Im using now seemed to be the best. I figure you want the barrel to end where the force exerted by the blast peaks. Any less and you dont have the full potential, and any more and the potato is starting to slow down. Im guessing that the ratio would be close to ~1/2 of the chamber volume, but I have no way to figure it out. You have to consider the amount of fuel/air, volume, where the ignitor is etc.
  15. So willl he be getting one anytime soon? I was 11 when I got my car, hes probably plenty mature.
  16. Yeah but I dont have a compressor so I ruled that out along time ago. Also the good thing about a combustion one is its portable. I can break mine down to about 2 ft long and fit the taser, potatos and fuel all in the chamber. Its alot easier to carry around.
  17. Do you have kids? Im guessing a car can always be better, but at some point you have to look at what is REALLY needed. Im going to college in 2 years and Ill need any money I make next summer yet Id like to put it into my car. You might want to put money into your car but you got to think about your kids If you have any (college, etc.). But its easy for me to tell you to save money for your kids college so they can spend their own money on their car.
  18. Well heres an update, I havent changed anything on my current gun but will be making a new one. A bunch of people I know wil be having a potato gun contest and most of the people are kinda stupid but their are some chemists and machinists(so metal piping=aceytlene/oxygen) so those are the guys Im needing to beat. I picked up an 11 inch sewer pipe at our school today (being remodeled) and I have some 1.5 inch abs black piping Ill probably use for the barrel. So far everything has been free so now Im needing to find all the caps, reductors, etc. Im hoping to have a 300-350 yd gun. Im trying to figure out if having the ignitor in the back is better then having it in suspended in the center of the pipe in the middle. Heres what Ive got. Any opinions or ideas...
  19. Wow, looks nice. Looks really clean. You have to appreciate a nice interior.
  20. I wasnt thinking of 300hp, more in the 240-250hp range. Im guessing thats around 12 psi on a motor like Dave's?
  21. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=69599&highlight=240z+wheel+tire+options Lots of other threads on this subject. A quick search turned this one up.
  22. Then you can forget about $500 parts cars. I hope prices stay right where they are.
  23. Now its your turn to actually do it and Ill copy your design.
  24. Note Tony D is on HybridZ. Hopefully he will chime in again...
