  1. What did you use behind the vinyl? The stuff I have has a thin layer of soft white padding (not like the original stuff), Im afraid it might not be tough enough. Also since the original pieces werent sewn together did you just cut along the middle of the simulated threading? Do you have any pics?
  2. I was lucky to get my car done for $4000. That is everything, mounting doors, fenders, hatch, hood, redoing all the body work and fixing some fust issues. Also shaved the rear end and emblems. Turned out perfect. On the whole car Ive only found two very very small specs/runs. I was lucky. Also wet sanded the paint so there isnt any orange peal.

    Ha, ha, ha..........
  4. Ive been telling my dad that he needs to get a z once mines finished and he doesnt like the idea of having to do maintenace on a car. It would be nice to be able to have an educated conversation about Zcars with my dad.
  5. I think the main reason older Z owners make their own parts is because thats the only option. I think most Z owners would resort to saving a few extra dollars and getting a manufactured parts rather then saving money and doing it yourself that sometimes doesnt work. I myself like to make my own stuff. That way no one elses car is like mine. If you look at everyones way of closing of the radiator area their all different. Each one is unique. Well back on the subject.. turbo supras are very fast.
  6. I didnt know they made that many gnoses! Ive always loved yellow Z. Its been high on my list for a long time.
  7. Ive got a box of them (new SS bolts of same length and thread, etc) that I bought a while back. Ended up using the old ones. Want them?
  8. That is very wise Hugh. Last summer before my car was even painted and partially back together I was trying to convince my dad to let me buy an intercooler for down the road.... never convinced him but glad I didnt buy it. The lesson that can be learned is buy what you need and think before you cut, dissassemble, or rip apart anything. It will save you alot of money down the road.
  9. I used 26 gauge steel. Are you talking about a sheetmetal splitter that sticks out from the bottom of the airdam? 240hoke has a setup like that. Im debating doing it.
  10. Thanks, any reccomendation for fabric? I had bought some vinyl recently and ended up not using it. Its just generic vinyl from Joann's.
  11. Thanks, I was thinking of trying to save money by doing it myself but for $140, its not worth trying to do it yourself. Ill have to call and check if it works for the 2+2's. Note on Datsun Restore, has anyone been able to reach them by phone? I had called a few months back and never got an answer left 3 or 4 messages over a month or so and never got a call back. Finally just ordered off the internet.
  12. Love the license plate! Start by checking all the SX catalogs. Im guessing you were only looking at the cars.......
  13. Has anyone remade the fabric pieces that fit over the shock towers and rear fender wells? It seems that if you take them apart at the seam and then cut new pieces, and sew it back together like youd make a pillow (sew on the inside and turn inside out) it wouldnt be to difficult.... Im hoping to get some help from my mom who can sew a little better then me. Anyone have pictures of there own remade covers? I remeber see a few pictures but couldnt find them.
  14. Is he talking about blocking off the top like this... And the bottom like this... Or are you talking about if you should block the top grill off like I did (2nd pic) compared to everything below the grill?
  15. For 2+2's you can use the weatherstripping off the edge of the window frames for weatherstripping on the outside of the quarterwindow frames.(dont make them anymore) If a part isnt in nice enough shape to paint... rynoline it.
  16. Yeah its sad. I asked him doesnt it bother him stiffing a 16 year old out of $260? He responded saying "derrick, i habve been geiving you options to finding asolution to this" If you cant type I dont think you should be selling on ebay.
  17. After Mr. and Mrs. Fenton retired, Mrs. Fenton insisted her husband accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, Mr. Fenton was like most men--he found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunately, Mrs. Fenton was like most women--she loved to browse. One day Mrs. Fenton received the following letter from her local Wal-Mart. Dear Mrs. Fenton, Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may be forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr.. Fenton are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras. 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking. 2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5 minute intervals. 3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in Housewares - get on it right away." 5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway. 6. September 14: Moved a "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign to a carpeted area. 7. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department. 8. September 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?" 9. October 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme. 12. December 6: In the auto department, he practiced his "Madonna look" by using different sizes of funnels. 13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled "PICK ME! PICK ME!" 14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed "OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!" 15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, "Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!" Regards, Wal-Mart
