  1. Whats wrong with your carbon fiber one??
  2. Did you try any kind of lube? A light oil even. Is the locking bolt removed? Also Id try cleaning out the inside of the strut housing. I took a light round file and cleaned up the edges. The pin went in perfect.
  3. Luckily he didnt mix it up the other way.
  4. Well I miss just driving the car, but yes I want my boost back!
  5. Got everything back together and pressurized the fuel system just to find leaks... switched out one fitting on the fuel rail and added a little loctite. Hopefully itll be ok now. Id like to get the car started tomorrow, just at least idleing since there are a few things I need to check before making boost. Ill post some pics of the new engine bay.
  6. Saw this and thought about this thread... $2000 seems really steep but thought Id mention it. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=148979 Also, I believe he means the actual turbos themselves... not the engines.
  7. The red one looks sweet! What kind of wheels? Are they panasports? If so they might be worth something.
  8. Thanks! What kind of car is in the video? Looks pretty sweet.
  9. My 81 turbo would usually shift at just past 5000 during full throttle runs. As for the boost guage, could be broken or have bad connections or you might not be building that much boost. Can you get past 3psi at part throttle going say 35-40 mph? Boost isnt always proportionate to RPM.
  10. Oh, that really sucks... I cant believe theres 100+ pages in that thread. Thats insane. Kind of shows how small HBZ is... Anyone know where the informational video is NOS put out after hearing about this?
  11. Alright, thanks. Yes Tony I understand this has all been covered but being that many of the posts were quite old, and in some cases I wanted to confirm what I found... Ive had some problems reading stuff and believing it...
  12. Well although that sound is very nice, I wont be getting it since Id be venting to right in front of the turbo, you might hear a little "ffff." What are you getting at about the BOV opening size?
  13. Im aware that the stock turbo intake has the "pop off valve" to protect the engine from any over boosting. Im looking at raising the boost in the next couple weeks assuming I get everything back together and running good. My question is... is it best to just put a plug in the hole and attach the bov to the j pipe just in front of the TB. Ill be rerouting the BOV vent into the afm to turbo tubing as is needed. Thanks
  14. What they meant to say is no. The OS Giken head is somewhat rare and expensive. And there arent any other heads easily adapted to the L series. (although its been done by 1fastz with ka heads) A little more info would be helpful. What type of motor, how is it built, etc. Whats on it now? The numbers seem pretty good in your sig.
  15. I dont think so. He might have just had this one sitting around. Yes it is alot nicer than the stock rail, I got really tired of cutting my hands up trying to work around/under it.
  16. Are your oil lines smashed? It looks like they got pinched.
  17. One of mine is cracked and I need a new one to get my car back on the road. To bad I gave away my spare injectors... Just to make sure these are the black caps on the tip of the injectors. Im sure na ones will work fine too. Let me know what you have. Thanks
  18. Do the spintle caps pop off the tip even if their not broken? Im to scared to try and pop one of my good ones off.
  19. I got the fuel rail from Ron Tyler. Its basically just a threaded aluminum tube. Im hoping to just make a mbc from home depot parts since I wont be going past 10psi for now. Also forgot to mention Ill hopefully be upgrading to the 300zx coil...
  20. Alright, never made a thread like this for my 78 so I thought Id make one for my ZX. Got the car for $550, anticipating just to pull then engine and part out the car. That didnt last long, I started driving it to school and as of a week ago I tore down the engine for some upgrade/refurbishing. What it looked like when I first got it.^ There was and still is some problem causing it to run rough on occasion, still trying to sort that out. Anyways, heres some of the stuff I got and am in the process of installing. - Fuel Rail - New Fuel tubing - Capped egr - Sandblasted intake - plugged idle control opening on manifold - removed most vacume lines/emmision controls - replaced intake/exhaust manifold gasket - cleaned up the ports as much as I could, cleaned up the gasket area Next in line, is a manual boost controller, new plug wires and dist. cap, hopefully a better downpipe, need to find a flange first. Will also finish the wiring on my injector pigtails, only got three of them done. Still need to buy one more injector since my dad dropped one and broke the spintle cap. Ill update when I get more done.
  21. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php Anyone done something like this? Im probably gonna set this up on my ZX now that I have a running, driving turbo car.
  22. So Braap what do you reccomend? Ive got the one replacement injector, 4 stock ones that look to be in good condition, and one with a broken spintle cap. Should I just replace the one with the broken cap with a similar sorensen unit then have all of them cleaned? I tested the resistance on them and their all in the mid 2 range, all pretty close.
  23. Yeah, the thing is I cant see any part number on the light brown ones.... And the spintle cap isnt missing on the black one, thats how they are stock. But my dad did manage to drop one of the injectors on the tip and crack it. So Ill need to replace that ones for sure.
