  1. In the process of making my downpipe and had a question. Right now it would be easiest for me to just run a section of straight pipe between the wasegate outlet and the downpipe. The dump tube would come into the downpipe at a 90 degree angle (dump tube is perpendicular to the downpipe). My question is from a fluids standpoint, how bad is this for flow out of the exhaust turbine? Will this have a significant impact on performance compared to routing the dump tube into the downpipe where they "Y" together smoothly? (Dump tube and downpipe are closer to parallel and blend together) Specs: L28et Stock exhaust manifold Hx35w T3-T3 adaptor with 38mm wastegate port between turbo and manifold 38mm external wastegate. 3 inch downpipe 1.5 inch dump tube Thanks
  2. Got the flanges. Cut a short section of 1.5 inch tubing for the extention for the wastegate. I got a new tank for the mig so I'll be back in business for welding Sunday. I'm getting busy with school so i will probably try to just tack everything together. IC piping, the extension and then the short 3 inch piece I have for the downpipe. I also received a new set of new t clamps which look pretty nice. I'll update Sunday.
  3. Yeah, everything is atleast 18 gauge or bigger. Im basically using all of the original wires, injectors and ground wires are the original 14 or 16 gauge wires. What sizes does it look like it will accomodate?
  4. Tial 38mm wastegate. Holset exhaust downpipe flange. 3 inch outlet, Ive got a bunch of 2.5 inch pipe left from my IC so I will probably neck the 3 inch down to 2.5 unless people think that will be really bad on performance.. IC set up, still need to do fine tuning and welding to make sure everything is straight and looks nice. BOV, got it for $25! Its the one sold by MSA. Its brand new, I took it apart and everything looked good. Everything is sealing great, shouldnt have any issues with it. I rotated the housing and went to try it and now the vacuum fitting isnt in the way but the housing is still to big to have it mounted directly to the manifold to turbo T3 wastegate adaptor. I ordered an additional 2 flanges for the waste gate and will be making a short extension of about 2-3 inches of pipe to put the housing for the wastegate closer to the firewall where it wont hit the exhaust manifold. The dump tube will be able to go straight out of the bottom of the waste gate into the downpipe. Plan for this week and probably next weekend: -Flanges should be in the mail this week -Weld up extension for wastegate -Weld up IC piping -Weld on BOV port as in picture -Plan a downpipe. 3 inch to 2.5 inch? 3 inch all the way? -Pick up a bung/nut for the O2 sensor to weld onto the downpipe
  5. Alright, I have a 38mm tial in my possession, a BOV from msa, I bought some 16 gauge aluminized steel for the intercooler piping. (yeah a little heavy but oh well, it will work fine), tbolt style pipe clamps are in the mail, I have a new exhaust flange for the holset as well. The ic piping is pretty close to done. I need to get a section of straight pipe and steal my welder back from my friend before I finish. The wastegate appears to hit the manifold right now so I'll need to rotate the housing to fix that. I'll update with some pictures later today on what I get done.
  6. Yeah I looked on diy. All I could find was the 18 inch harness with connector for $50... I bought a db37 connector off the Internet but all of the solder joints were for very small wires so that didn't work. Thanks, no rush. I have plenty of other things to finish. Haha
  7. Got a wastegate. Still looking for megasquirt parts! Anyone know where to buy just the connector for the harness?
  8. Ive bought about 3 sets of these from him, two sets I drove on my cars for awhile. 3rd has yet to be tested. Quick shipping, everything worked great. The removable metal clip is a hassle to get off with a stock fuel rail. Its not that bad with an aftermarket rail where you have room to get your tools/fingers in there to pull off the clips. Good reason to get a new fuel rail?? haha
  9. Got the BOV, thanks! Still looking for a wastegate! Let me know what you have?
  10. Where/who did you buy it from? Are there any markings on it?
  11. Nice find! I have not seen this one before. Doesnt look like the imsa kits Ive seen.
  12. Looking for a DB37 meqasquirt harness. I really just need the pin connection itself since I have already built my harness but Ill take what I can get. (Let me know if you know where I can buy just the connector) (harness side obviously not the MS unit side) I need an external wastegate. 38mm. Not looking for anything extravagant. Will be used on a holset on my L28et at fairly low pressures. Need a BOV, again dont need anything super fancy. If youve been using it successfully without problems it will work for me. Preferably one with a flange. Let me know. Thanks
  13. Alright, got back home this last week. I ended up working straight up to school starting so I didnt get any free time at home. The good thing though is Im all paid up for school this semester and I have that extra week in pay. That will give me a little flexibility on trying to buy parts. Ill be able to buy all the stuff in my previous post within the next couple weeks, Ill probably wait on the MS2 unit itself and just buy the connector so I can have everything ready to go before I buy the unit itself. I dont want to get ahead of myself and hook it up before everything is ready. Im going to try and dedicate some time on the weekends to working on the car... I would love to have this done before I graduate!
  14. Thank you! I really spent alot of time thinking about what would make it look nice. Well as far as the car goes, I'm 5 hours away from it and will be for alot of the summer if I don't bring it over. Since I have time to ponder what I need to do here's a list. Purchase: ms2 with db37 harness connector Wastegate, ext. Blow off valve Intercooler piping Downpipe with flange for Wbo2 Air filter Install: Everything above Edis trigger wheel and sensor Bracket I'll be able to buy alot of this stuff within the next week or two, I just can't install it... Might have to recruit my dad or someone back home to take interest... Haha Also need to get a new caliper on the back, ones leaking. Why did I ever replace the drums????
  15. Yeah I had ended up just finding Close to tdc by feeling the spark plug hole with a screwdriver and my finger. I determined I was on compression and stopped where I thought it was close. When I looked down it showed the little tooth sitting at like 45 degrees, I moved it to 0. I'm hoping that's tdc...
  16. What have you checked? Do you have a multi meter? Check if you have power to the lights and work backwards. Check wiring for shorts, things unplugged, etc. Check the relays located on the passenger side under the dash by the fuses and glove box. It could be alot of things.
  17. Im putting the EDIS kit from Derek on as well. Im trying to figure out how to set the engine to TDC with the 81 pulley... Do you line up one of the 3 small teeth on the timing mark "0"? This is still on an 81 turbo engine.
  18. How is your build coming along?

  19. Well its been awhile... finished school this week going to try and get some stuff done this weekend before I leave for the other side of the state for a summer internship. I might bring the car over at some point if possible. Anyways, purchased Dereks kit, looks awesome. Pulley is ready to go. Decided to go with an external wastegate so I bought a t3 t3 adaptor and had that welded onto the manifold. Bolted up the turbo and sealed the original wastegate and it looks great. Pictures later.
  20. I do not recall coupe and 2+2 springs being different.
  21. Just leave it as is. Weld on a cap to the back of the manifold where you cut it and the smooth everything out. Cutting off the plenum will be alot of work and youll need to weld up the holes going into the runners which may leave bumps on the inside of the runner.... its gonna be tough. Or just wait longer to find a n42 non egr...
  22. Thanks for the quick shipping Derek. I've been ordering a bunch of stuff hopefully Ill have it all by mid next week and I can get stuff done before I leave.
  23. Yeah, Ive had alot on my plate and sadly little interest in my car... But I have renewed enthusiasm, and money for this summer. It has to be done this summer, just drivable I guess.

You see my post about being in Everett? Funny I was actually planning o living in Tacoma for awhile but they moved me to everett.

Hows school going? Where you making all the fuel rails and stuff?

  24. Just need to set up the spark plug wires for my EDIS system. I have my EDIS coil pack mounted on the firewall where the battery used to sit (battery is gone) so I need to get some cut to length wires. Ones going to the front are about twice as long, I couldnt piece something together from the wires I got off the mini van. The EDIS is off a Grand Caravan, probably makes a difference for the wire "fitting" type. Any recommendations on good brands or places to buy them is appreciated. Thanks!
