  1. I tried my link from within the post, and it worked. It did take a few moments to load. Try again later.
  2. There is a great thread over on classiczcars.com about this. You must keep the vent lines, but not the evap tank. One line to the filler neck to allow air to escape while filling, and another to the front of the car to allow venting while running. Details here. www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19034 I've done this to three cars now. No problems yet. Jim
  3. For "stock" style 240z connectors, check out http://www.vintageconnections.com/ Nothing weather proof, but still handy to replace or upgrade existing wiring. Jim
  4. You're welcome. its a personal challenge I have to know every thread size in the car. Everyone needs a reason to get up in the morning. That and driving your Z!
  5. The steering wheel nut thread on a S30 is 16 x1.5 mm
  6. The issue with the ignitors not triggering the coil is very strange indeed. We tried several stock ZXT ignitors/coils and distributors (having parts is wonderful) with the same result (nothing....) Knowing it had run like this before is what contributed to both the previous mechanics and my initial confusion about WTF might be wrong as we looked down many false alleys. "rang like this before, can't be the wiring...." In what appeared to be a last ditch effort we switched the power and trigger wires on the top of the igniter thinking this was about the only thing that might be backward, even though every shematic and reference that I could find (and my experience ) said the +12v is the black wire to the top of the "T" of the connector and the trigger is the yellow to the base of the "T". Much to our shock doing the switch of these two wires resulted in the first spark the coil has produced in a long time. The car would not start though, just a few very basic chugs on key-off. Oh well, must be the map or timing is way out. That was late Wednesday night. We packed it in. Yesterday something clicked about "ya there's spark, but the spark is pretty weak". Went out and bought (Mark, ya owes me $66 dollarettes) a GM HEI module and bingo, big inch long bright arcs from the coil and the car starts right up. I wired the module "correctly" no switched power and trigger on this one. Lots of you characters out there are running stock coil/ignitors with Wolf right? So what is special about Marks car? (Other than the paint....) The mystery continues..... Something to do with the properties of the square wave Wolf uses for the trigger from this specific box? We have 5ms charge time.... Maybe there is hope of getting this thing out of my shop before July after all! Any advice hints, experience, settings, or guidance would be great. Thanks! Oh, and Tony, I'll get to that manifold porting real soon.... (PS: z240 here = JimCanuck on zcar. )
  7. Jim,

Too funny. I've got a bunch of parts I wanted to get to you anyway. I'll call you.

    Brian

  8. Hey Brian! I'm sure I have one. Drop over and have your pick of a bunch of 'em! I replaced mine too! Amazing dash mods by the way! Are you ever going to be done? Jim
  9. Can't believe I'm doing this. Oh well, here goes.... "A farmer hires his engineer friend to increase efficiency at his Dairy Farm. He gives the engineer eight weeks to come up with a plan and implement it. At the end of eight weeks, the engineer and the farmer meet to discuss the final result. Things are not going well. Production is down and the cows are sick. The farmer asks the engineer to tell him the details of his plan so he can figure out what went wrong. The engineer begins his explanation with... "First, I assumed a spherical cow....."
  10. How about these guys? http://www.superbrightleds.com/
  11. Could you be more specific on which exact piece of 64 Impala trim that is? Yearone.com has lots of repo trim, would be great to narrow it down some. Great workmanship by the way! Jim
  12. StrokerZedd: Well its about time we see some pics of this beast! Looks fantastic! Good to see it in the car finally. Been a long road yes? Look forward to seeing it in person in the spring. Itching to get back on the road already, enough with the snow! Jim
  13. Drain plugs can be had at any auto supply store, even Canadian Tire. They are in the red packaging that has all the generic "emergency" style stuff. They are white nylon, marked as being for Toyota/Nissan. You'll find em!
  14. Zero: Don't see "Schlumberger" on hybrid Z very often. Kinda jumped out at me. I've been with them for a "while". I'de be happy to share my experiences with you. Send me a pm or email Jim
  15. wondersparrow: Jim down in the Calgary here! Congrats on getting Reg to part with that thing. The gas pouring out that barrel is likely a bad float needle or something stuck in its seat. Not likely a gasket. Easy clean out, just pull the top cover off that carb, and remove the float. You'll see how the needle fits in a seat to control the gas coming in. Look for a groove on the needle or dirt, even the smallest amount will do it. Let me know if you need any help! Jim
