  1. Hey team, just looked around for an exact answer to what I need to know but ony came across one vague reference regarding the issue. I have a 72z with a 78 brake booster. And recently installed a 79zx Master cyl on it, I bumped across a thread where one member mentioned I needed to bend the lines around a but and flip the Front and Rear lines accordingly for the zx MC? Just want to k ow if this is true as both my stock 240z and the 79zx MC have identical R & F hook up connections?
  2. Lol sorry kind of ignorant on some of the terms like middle of travel or droop so I'm not sure where middle of travel is considered :/ I get the feeling it's when the car is normally sitting on the ground? Anyway... Il take some measurements and pictures of the driver/pass side gaps with the car leveled on the ground and up In the air, hopefully i can get some feedback as to where I stand in regards to whether or not it's ok to drive my car with stock arms and no camber plates. I plan on putting shorter springs an illuminas in the future though. Not sure that would help or harm with these shafts... Stand by for pics and measurements
  3. Thanks for the update Jim, kudos for the honesty and fast communication regarding the problem. Quick question out though, I put together the shafts yesterday and installed them and the car (suspension wise) other than urethane bushings is stock. Springs and all.... And the car is on the ground and able to roll, with the car on the ground installing the cv's what's the ideal gap between the shaft and the hub adapter that would be ideal with the cv shafts pushed in and compressed toward the diff? Ican honestly say they seem to fit perfectly with a nice amount of space for travel. I only measured the gap of the driver side so far and I got just a small line over 1" Feedback anyone?
  4. yeah i was inquiring about this myself hence the post.. i just bled the clutch master cyl and slave cyl and when i press the pedal it feels flimsy, like its not pushing as much as it should and barely engaging. just wanted to see what upgrades (if any) were commonly done to S30's
  5. thanks for the heads up on the info needed. Car's a 72 240z
  6. Hey team, been having a rough time with figuring out where the pictured wires below belong to. i have the haynes manual on me and still having a hard time figuring out where these go. HELP! 72 240z one thick blk male wire coming from the flasher signal side one thick blk female wirse (coming from the combo switch) one black with yellow female wire one blue with white strie male wire (coming from the combo switch)
  7. Hey there team, just browsing around the cite and google and zdriver/hybridz and found a few threads about this being done and a few pictures of the comparison of the parts appereance wise while doing replacements of worn out or faulty parts, however I found no information regarding if there are any advantages or benefits or IF it is even considered an actual UPGRADE to replace S30 clutch master cyl & or Slave cyl with that of the 280zx/(turbo) doing basic upgrades on my 72 currently with an L28et & T5 tranny and 77 Z31 CLSD, planning on spicing up the drivetrain with a better clutch and flywheel not too long from now so figure i could address the cheap/ economic upgrades. Feedback?
  8. BUMP!.. need a set i contacted modern motorsports and the bastards have given me no reply to two emails within two weeks.... this is stalling my project.
  9. Hey there i have a set up for the rear disk conversion for my 240z. the donor parts came from my 83 280zxT. i recently purchased the brackets from another member however appparently there is a EARLY and a LATE version of these, in which the later version are wider and have a different design. apparently there should also be a LATE MAXIMA BRACKETS mounts for these? well if so thats what im looking for. i really dont care if they were aftermarket fabricated or if they are original or high performance. i just need the mounts to fit my 83ZXt rear set up. im located in SAN DIEGO, CA 91911 if anybody wants to shoot me some quotes shipped to my pad.
  10. im happy you mentioned that Mortensen cause i am planning on doing the 4x4 truck convo.. and i AM somewhat thinking of getting this car sideways from time to time..... Your thoughts?
  11. How are you doing guys. This post is just to see if anybody knows what the difference is in the EARLY vs the LATE 280zx rear disk brake conversion I got the set up from my donor 83 280zxT calipers and mounts etc etc. and i just recently purchased on hybridz from some member the EARLY maxima rear brackets to hold down the calipers and the holes for the braket and the caliper bracket do NOT line up... the early maxima bracket was far shorter than the mount where the caliper mount bolts on to. NO BUENO!.... so this brings me to my reason for post. WHICH OF THE TWO SET UPS is better. EARLY or LATE and why ? just curious as to know what to get rid of, the early maxima bracket, or the 83ZXT brake set up.
  12. So I have a finned core 87 clsd from the turtle z31 in my 240z and I got the BW t-5 tranny with the 83 zxT drive shaft. Anybody know from what cars or drivetrain I can get the companion flange for the diff that ican get where I can match up to the 280zxt 5 speed dive shaft. Just got one off a 280zx n/a (possibly automatic) and it did not match
  13. Beautiful answer my man.... Standingby for your thread. And if there's a group buy to save $ on the kit of adapter and shortened cv's, hell even better haha.
  14. definitely looking forward to your post. and a quick question kinda off topic but not really... since im sure im not the only one curious as to WHY the shorter shafts are needed. and under WHAT circumstances are they needed. like are they needed when you're gonna slam the car to the ground? or lower it a bit? or even stock suspension? came across a thread i believe it said sometimes when the suspension bottoms out or something he shafts get shoved into the lsd too much and mess up the gears?... im sure if i knew WHY the shorter shafts were needed i along with many others doing the z31 diff would be more susceptible to buy your whole kit. KUDOS mortensen & thanks
  15. INTERESTED... shoot me price shipped to 91911 Thanks
  16. This is kind of a free bump i assume but im actually interested in getting one shipped over STAT. shoot me a pm with your paypal or if you still even produce the brackets let me know. thank you. Jose
  17. well title cant be more obvious as to what i am looking for. was thinking of getting the kit straight from Zstore but i figured some people might already be making these on the side on the forum or got a spare kit laying around that they wouldn't mind making some extra $$ off of. any way. i just need the old brackets from the maxima that hold up the 280zxt calipers for the rear disc conversion fir the S30. Thanks a lot guys. shoot me a pm asap. p.s... ignore the terrible spellcheck fail on the thread title haha
  18. Hey there krew. just got the project car up and running.. i got the wiring done by myself and the car seems to turn on and off no problem. the issue i am having is that the IDLE is rather HIGH. It sits @ about 3k Rpm's I have done the following trouble shooting. 1) quickly test that all injectors are spraying ( by quickly removing the injector clips while engine is on to see if hesitation starts, then placing them back on promptly) " this doesn't seem to lower RPMs but engine hesitations occur on all 6 so thats a +) 2) played somewhat with the timing of the car in regards to the distributor position. (all it does it begins to backfire a bit and hesitate when i retard it too much, advancing the timing doesn't seem to cause an effect much other than it would "seem" like it runs a tad smoother but advance is no bueno on turtles) "RPM's don't drop what so ever by messing with the timing So coming to the Gurus in hopes of somebody having a clue in regards to what IS or COULD be the culprit so that i can adress the matter accordingly. thx guys.
  19. This thread is officially in my good graces... not sure if its a write up or not.. BUT being a visual learner that i am is JUST what i needed. been following a diagram for weeks and been unable to know where i can find what and what the cables looked like other than by color. KUDOS to you BUBMLE ZEE... and many thanks for the pics. they did mad werk!
  20. STILL looking for somebody in the area that knows how or HAS done the swap and can help out with the wiring. i seriously just want to get this car running STOCK i dont care at this point. been looking for an electrician that wants to come over and make some extra bucks but no luck finding anybody. I'm in SAN DIEGO so if anybody knows of a good referal or anybody reading this wants to make some extra $ and help get another Z on the road shoot me a PM PLEASE!!!
  21. just my luck... lol good sh!3t man thanks for the info. VERY usefull. with that being said i can print your part out and make a check list to break things down on the to do list to get her running. on a BRIGHTER note: went to the junkyard the other day looking for parts for my 240SX S13 and ran into a 280zx that was missing the head and valve cover and turbo components (turbo, manifold etc etc) BUT!! the electrical was all there... so i was like SCORE! here's the coil, boost controler sensor thing, and ignitor wiring. so i traced it as far back as i could under the dash but god knows where it went. didnt have all day so decided to cut the wires as far up into the dashboard as i could and took it home. at least now i got the wiring. just gotta figure out WHERE them wires get hooked up too haha. something is better than nothing i assume. STILL looking for help here in SD that can charge to get it done tough. honestly id rather not Fk anything up... itl end up costing me more that way haha. i can sure as hell pick my battles... and electrical sure isnt one of them
  22. Im in need of an experienced electrician that would like to make some extra $. I am currently involved in an engine swap and i have reached the electrical aspect of things and i have an IDEA of what needs to be done however this being my first time with the "hands on" on the electrical and parts being rare for this cars id rather not screw anything up. the electrical components and swap is from a 1983 Datsun 280zx Turbo (stick-shift) the wiring needs to be adapted/spliced/merged/etc with that of a 1972 Datsun 240z. i have some charts i dug up from online car forums that explain what needs to go where. But being unfamiliar with the field and terms i need the help. i also have the Haynes manual for both years and models of the car for reference on the harnesses. -Electrician needs to be experienced and efficient -needs to bring his own tools to facilitate his job ( i have some tools/tape etc just in case tough) -Must come to the car's location in my day off (will discuss over phone) -If he/she has experience with this particular swap EVEN BETTER. i will be helping out and watching throughout the process so i know what needed to be done and for educational purposes. Let me know how much you'd charge for the help or whatever either via PM here or text 619-787-7671 thanks for looking
