  1. Hmm...Ill have to find that post...I hate "knowing" wrong info.... ~Alex
  2. not really, the turbo heads either have better ports factory or can be ported to flow better then NA heads. Im not sure exactly but I know thats not right. Search function-its free. Use it. ~Alex
  3. Trust me there are cars you dont want to pull the engine out more then once, and a Z car isnt one you need to worry about. It's not bad at all. Im kinda in the same boat, I have basicly a turbo car minus the shell and rust and rims/tires, and Im about to compression test it and all that when I get home (its in ohio im in florida, sanford (anybody with a cool Z car around here?)) and see where I stand. I might know where a 260z is cheap so hopefully its not a rust bucket, and I can pick it up... ~Alex
  4. Dreamz- well ITB setups are the best for balancing all the cylinders (making sure each gets the same amount of air and therefore fuel)and top end power and the plenum setup is good for all around power. ~Alex
  5. yea im pretty sure you do. Look at the bottom of this page, its a pretty cool feature.... ~Alex
  6. If you run EFI on a ITB setup you dont use a maf or AFM you use a MAP (manifold absolute pressure sensor) that measures the vaccume. In an ITB setup you usually tap all the runners and go to a vacume chamber like some carbs do. Mega squirt comes standered with a map sensor which is cool since it simlifies setup. ~Alex
  7. The maxima intake is not a varible intake. It doesnt have nearly the effect a real VI manifold has. The pathfinder should be a better intake, but I think it interfears with the hood so check clearance. As for power, I believe it has more bottom end, but I havent looked at one in a while so I may be wrong. Ill dig up the links from the maxima website i frequent and post them here. ~Alex
  8. If it has low fuel pressure run new 12G or bigger wires. Just hook them directly up to the battery with one switch and see if that helps. ~Alex
  9. That sensor tells the computer how how the engine is. And I doubt thats your problem. Have you cleaned ALL the eletrical contacts on the wiring harness? Thats always a big problem on old cars. Do you have the tools to pull off the intake and exaust manifolds? It sounds like it needs replacing along with some vacume lines. ~Alex
  10. Id post more in the V6 forum, but for injectors you need to run 750cc's at a higher then normal pressure or just get 800CC injectors. Theres alot of info on building a high HP VG, so read around the V6 forums and the various links you find. VG30ET.com is a decent place to start. ~Alex
  11. I thought I read some where the VG30DE shares its valves and seals with the RB so I would try them. But Id search around to double check. ~Alex
  12. It depends on the turbo, if its a watercooled one as well, most dont have egnough oil flow to cool the turbo as well. Its easy egnough to plumb your TB waterlines into the turbo and be done with it. ~Alex
  13. You have to be a member to look at them. Put the pics in the hybridz gallery or on photobucket. ~Alex
  14. I have the wiring and all that too along with alot of other parts so Ill definitly do all that. I put some new wire plugs on my 90 maxima and it helped out alot so Im sure it'll help the Z. The oil pan is definitly a good idea....The headgasket, I donno. Working on cars isnt hard at all and doing an in car repair isnt a big deal to me. I think Ill be making a setup so I can test it and all that. It'll also be to setup my VQ30 with megasquirt so Ill definitly need it. Its also got the P90a head so its got hydralic lifters so I dont have to adjust anything. ~Alex
  15. Yea I was being pretty through. I was just wondering if there was anything I missed. Is there any thing I need to look for that could cause failure? That would normally wouldnt be inspected in a engine swap. ~Alex
  16. You might have a wire going bad or disconnected that works the injectors. Come to think about it, I saw in a recent thead some one had a starting problem and said there was a disconnected wire for the injectors that ran near the stater. Id try searching for "starter wire" or "near starter" or something like that. ~Alex
  17. Its just a bunch of ticking coming from the injector, some times you can just hear them other times you have to use the screw driver trick. Or a wrench w/e you want to transfer vibrations with. ~Alex
  18. can you compression test the engine? Also make sure all the injectors are clicking when you crank the car over. put a screwdriver on an injector and hold it up to your ear. ~Alex
  19. Any ideas? Ive got a full turbo swap with 105K sitting waiting for a car to power and I want to do something to keep me busy lol. I was thinking: -Compression test it on the stand (I can bolt the engine/tranny together and use the starter as is) -clean any and all fluids out of the engine/tranny -check for any wearing items -clean the block and paint it -simplify the intake manifold -remove emissions -clean all the eletrical connectors Any ideas? I dont have emission testing here so Im good. And since Im a student I dont want to build it before I do drive it. I can do that next winter. I do just want to go through it with a fine tooth comb and make sure it'll work great. ~Alex
  20. Yes MT, thats exactly what I want to do. That and a slush box for chicago driving. Then after I move away from there it would be 5 speed time....But so far its just an idea. Oh and if I do it there will be lots of pics!! And yes if you want a VG33 or VG34, just get your self some new pistons, thats the only diffrence beween the 3.3L and 3L ~Alex
  21. If its running that rich make sure its not getting into the oil. ~Alex
  22. the ZX also has better aero stock for stock. But with mods im not sure which one is better. ~Alex
  23. Nope I just wanted the turbo for another car. I have a full turbo swap for a S30 or S130 I just need a car. ~Alex
  24. That was all internet chat so maybe they are diffrent. But what does it say about the piston end? the VE30DE is a dohc engine with 24V that has the exact same engine mounts as a VG30E and a very similar block. its only application is the 92-94 SE maxima. I want to see if I can over bore it to 3.3L or 3.4L. With that engine you'll have 4 valves a cyl and a varible intake manifold for much more topend and just as much bottom end. ~Alex
  25. how much for your turbo if it works? ~Alex
