  1. Bjhines is trying to say everything that forces air into the cylinders is a supercharger. We know a supercharger as a belt or eletric motor driven device that pushes air into an engine. We know a turbocharger as a exaust driven device. When both are super chargers, the latter is just a turbo-supercharger. ~Alex
  2. Where in ohio? We've got Kilkare race way in Dayton, they have a 1/4 strip and a oval raceway with some infield pavement they use for drift pratice. Then theres national trails near columbus. Lots of other stuff too. ~Alex
  3. Garret, it would be pretty easy to shorten the shifter to get it near stock or the same as the stock position but nice install. ~Alex
  4. Looks like the 2.25 exaust is hurting your topend. 2.5in is only good untill 250someHP so you need a whole 3in exaust. It will help spool a little and top end alot. Nice numbers tho, hopefully my Z will be doing similar ones soon! ~Alex
  5. looks like a white S130 to me? And did you change your oil after you did all this? The fuel that was in there had 3 places to go. One, down the cyl past the rings and into the oil, and then out each valve, but they were probably closed at that point. So you should have checked your oil for a gas smell or changed it. ~Alex
  6. you get the turbo pistons (the rods may be stronger so grab them too) and you'll get the turbo CR. Which is high 8's:1 or 9:1. You can also get custom 9:1 pistons if your going with alot of power, but the stock ones should be good for about 300-400HP with proper tuning. The VG can stand alot of power so turbocharging isnt a problem. ~Alex
  7. Is there room to put a 240mm clutch on a 225mm flywheel? ~Alex
  8. No I ment a broken exuast stud or bolt. If one is broken exuast can escape before it spins the turbo, creating more lag. Or you have a boost leak. ~Alex
  9. Wow excuse me. Sorry I just told him things to check. At least I was helping the guy, or giving him options any way. ~Alex
  10. Mike If you were talking to me, no I dont actually have that setup. In my dreams I do how ever. I built it my self ~Alex
  11. Thats what I was thinking, that graph doesnt suit Garrets HP. It seems it'd be 300+deg if thats even possible. ~Alex
  12. Sounds like a broken stud. Not very fun to replace while its in the car an the manifold on. You at least have to take the exaust manifold and maybe intake manifold off, its not very hard with the engine out of the car though. ~Alex
  13. you dont really need an injector bigger then about 440cc and 440cc is common injector so Id go with that. 1000cc is far too big for 350WHP. An observation Ive made is that for 6cyl engines the injector CC is near the crank HP or WHP (depending on the car). Like you want to make 350WHP. Id guess you need an injector about 370cc's. but thats not safe, thats pretty much open all the time at WOT and thats bad. So you add safty with a larger injector, about 20% larger, thats when you get to about 430 or so. 440 being a common size Id try that. Dont take my method as solid advice, it just a simple way for me to evaluate a setup some one has made, real math like what Gavin posted is a better but longer method. Either one has error in it but both are based off real life. As for engine management, your definitly going to want some upgrade Even if its a turbo z31 setup. Id reccomend that or a megasquirt. Both arent too expensive or complicated. Also look at my post on the maxima ECU. Gavin- What about the l28? If Garret is running 275WHP on his and a huge 320WTQ whats the air flow then? It seems 2.8L at 275WHP would put the turbo way out of its effiency range so Id be fine. I wonder whats the max HP I can get out of a KA24E? Should be interesting. time to find out what the l28et flows. ~Alex
  14. Ive been really busy sorry guys. Ill call the guy and ask him if I can give his number to you guys. ~Alex
  15. check out engineswaptech.com/forums/thread/240.aspx He ended up making his own IM, its really not too hard. You can also cut off the plenum and make your own. theres a lot of options, the only downside to the 350z plenum is the front 2 cyls not getting egnough air and the height of the back. You can fix the cyl's problem with a spacer but that makes the height worse. Hence a custom setup. GL ~Alex
  16. You can swap in the VQ30 intake manifolds and gain some clearance, and mount the engien a little higher no problem. ~Alex
  17. sounds like you need a turbo on that thing to quite it down ~Alex
  18. Sounds great Drew!! make sure you do a detailed list of your MS setup, Im sure it'll be usefull soon! Im glad you finaly got it figured out, Ive been following your setup(s) on FA and here and its great to see you get your MS setup running. Are you running the COP's? Thats my only reason for wanting to say with MS1. But also my s13 is my DD and isnt ready for the VQ swap and probably wont be untill next summer ~Alex
  19. Something to think about, I was reading a while back some guy on rx7club converted his mecanical oil injection pump to use an external tank. Then he ran some oil that bruned better and oiled better and ran like 50:1 premix like one a month. Sounded like it was perfect as you didnt have to worry about burning engine oil or clogging fuel injetors and filters with oil. Or mixing it every time you fill up. Something to consider if you can still do that. Nice project tho, Im a big fan of the rotarys. ~Alex
  20. Alright I found a post where garret made 274HP and 320ft/lbs of TQ. Hmm, thats great, and would the whole power band shift to the left on a 2.4L engine? That'd be perfect, I want to have boost onset around 2500rpm, and making full boost around 3K rpm to redline or near it. does that sound about right for a T3? ~Alex
  21. Im kinda in a rush and last time I tried searching for it I couldnt find any thing, Id like to get a turbo for my KA that will max out at about 250WHP and I want to be around 200WHP most of the time. Is the stock L28 turbo good egnough for that on a 2.4L sohc KA? TIA! ~Alex
  22. Sounds like a knock sensor is bad, when it gets hot it will retard the timing alot. The hesitation sounds like a bad TPS, my s13 has a bad hesitation problem and I have a bad TPS. GL~Alex
  23. Honda boy- yea I have a 9K revlimit, its pretty heavily modified and ported. I have 152ft ftlbs and 240HP Z guy- yea thats nice and all, but my Z has a DOHC head from 1986 mildly ported and my redline is 11,500RPM and I make 200FTLB's and 310HP out of 2.8L:flamedevi I just rough estimated some cool numbers but you get the idea:twisted: This is why Ive always like balanced 6cyls, they can rev as much as 4cyl's and make way more TQ doing it. I-6 FTMFW!!! Yea the setups would be pricy but omg it'd be SICK, I cant wait to see what happens with the KA->L28DE custom head project too. ~Alex
  24. No I dont have any pics, Ill call the guy and see if he has any and get a more detailed description. ~Alex
  25. I know a guy in Rockford,Illinois thats going to scrap a 260Z in the next week or 2 and I thought I could pick it up but I cant. It runs as of today but hes going to take the tranny and carbs off unless the buyer wants them. Its in decent shape and hed rather sell it then scrap it. He can get $150 for scrapping it so he wants at least that w/o the carbs and tranny. Somebody save a Z!! (PM me for contact info) ~Alex
