moving along with my Project Z thinking about making a 3.1 f-54 block. for my next monster turbo build . i pulled my old block apart and started preping it .. going to strip it of everything and send it out to a good shop? {still looking into FINDING ONE } This will be a long term project . i will be using this thread as my starting point for researching .so if you are working on your 3.1 build or have any ideas then please feel free to post them up . Has anyone tryed this kit that msa makes is it a good kit for 3.1 builds? seem a little pricey but understandabley so http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PEM05

ON THE MOTOR look at the pop off valve..they put it on the side of the intake ? tHER IS a few other changes thottle body looks differnt did they use N/A dissy's ??? it has vacum advance hmhmhm they call it the 430-L does this motor come in there hs130 the older skylines ? what about that chain tensioner crazzy differnt why so differnt have the japanese been keeping all the goodies for them selfs and selling the usa the cheeper under power version of this motor all along:nono: why are there so many changes hmhmh:weird:

nice swap .but I reaLY hate these cars ... still even though i wounldnt own this car it's a good swap they seem to got it on lock down ... i bet it would be fun to side that little mouse around a few big right handers . . small and boxy can = big drifts ..

I cross threaded #1 plug on my L28E ...I used a vacum and a tap it worked good just go slow and be careful ..if you are worried that you got alittle shavings in there well no worries vacum real good leave that plug out and crank her over a few times anything that got in there will blow right back out it worked on the L28E ..it should work on a small block v8 but use

i was in this zone , it sucks i feel for you:-|....the best thing i have found is TO start over . start with the ecu make sure all your connections are right and tight the lowest plug can be a big pain clean IT grease IT make sure its shotting singal {make sure of this }....this is a must frist thing anytime your l-6 turbo motor starts actting up , not firing the injector sigal ..i have a little lite that plugs in to the injector plugs its a must have !youc can pick one up at any auto parts store .the lowest plug on the ecu runs the injector pluse .....work smallest to biggest go slow and make sure all the connections are in the right places and conected well ...... Is your fuel pump coming on ? if you cant here it when the key is turned then its not however i bet if you wiggle that plug around it mite just start ..seems like you are getting spark as you have said but make sure of this.... BY pullING #3 plug cranking her over making sure you see spark ..dont give UP you'll figure it out ..swaps to turbo are such a pain stuped datsun they could have made it alot eazyer ... ...

for me it's the part being so rare ....ya you could be one of the ten millon people that own rb motors though out the world witch is cool and fun and all that ..or you can have one of the last parts of Z history that not but a few will have ...iam going to start building my na f54 block back up new lower end making it turboed no rush but that would be a tight part to have . along with a big TD-07:twisted: head work:twisted: cam :twisted:standalone mhmmhmhmhmhmhmhmhhmhmhmhmhm goodiesssssssss:wink: final test of the swap top end test and road rally .everything has been right and tight for days ..so figured it was time to rally out to some junk yards.. along the way I opened her up 5 gear 4900 rpm 130mph . GRAY WAS SHITING HIMSELF my friends black 89 240sx stock KA was left so far behide he stoped trying to keep up I "think" 16 or 17 mabe 18 seconds to get there not sure ..there was still alot of pedal left and 1000 rpm :shock::shock: she never missed a beat not befor or after or for the rest of the day it was hard driving for four hours with rest stops and junk yards along the way ..two cars two fools in each car. it was alot of fun we went to many a junk yard ... FYI vovlo 740 intercoolers will work on z cars . its a little smaller then the saab one's but thicker:wink: red 84 TURBO is broke down out back me and the owner are going to do a few mods while she is down and out .black 240sx got a front lip and a wing for pretty cheep .all and all it was a good day

The rain has come ...Did a full cleaning 22 min car wash at this car wash gray got a job at ...the cleaners they have are so awsome ..9 min clear coating that stuff makes the z gleam ... i then went and got a full set of new plugs and installed them ... NGK Vpower ..the old plugs where a little white :?so i turned my FPR up just alittle from 36psi to 40 psi in the the rail....i gapped the new plugs right at 0.039 on the lower side of the setting so hopfuly they will be a golden brown color when i check them in 300 miles .still have not heard back from greddy but i see that a few forums out there have pics post from SEMA show from this last weekend so it should be sometime this week that i here back from them .

nice setup 4.11 in the rear OYA :twisted:i bet your car pulls off the line like a beasts. i wonder if you will hit the 8.0 even mark or under in the 1/8th:twisted: my NA got 10.5 in the 1/8th last year .slowwww:?...i cant wait to see how the turbo motor will stand up this next year when we have the drag races again .. made it to to the 1000 mile mark sence the swap . did a oil change and some retighting of a few things . she is runnnig like a champ 8psi spikes with a steady 7psi all day exhaust leak is all but gone ..still looking for intercooler stuff .. i want 10psi all day:twisted: i found some more piping .buts waiting on coupers got a email back from greddy .they are going to look into it and email me back when they get back to the office after the SEMA show .

spendy yes .. i have been locking down THAT BOLT everyday more and more THE LEAK IS almost gone ... just a little sound not to much . even though it is costly i think it would be worth it just to have one . better flow ..real tight sounding i bet ...the only thing is it has a TD-07 flange. i have a T3/T4 ....i tryed looking up TD-07 flanges but i couldnt tell from any of the pics what the differnts was .

i drilled it tapped it out .put a stud in torked it down front bolt and back bolt . it made it less but its still there ..this manifold is warped for sure :?or the gasket is crap. the only way to fix it now is to take my head off flip it on its side remove all the manifold bolts turbo all that stuff . have this manifold surfaced or ........ i emailed greddy mabe they will answer . asking them if they will weld me up one of there manifolds ...ether way i will have to pull the head off , two of the heads on the bolts that lock the manifolds together are stripped . well i guess i will get a 1mm headgasket new manifold gasket and get dirty.

stupied exhaust leak came back .the stud isnt holding worth a crap . so lame if i could find a old school header style turbo manifold . i would swap it out and try to rethread that hole . f-ing jbweld cooked away . owell iam going to live with it for now .it just sucks
