Ive been playing for ten years now. I try and sit down and write stuff, but for the last teo years im lucky if i get to play and hour a week. But o-well. I personally love the classical acoustic or my 12-string acoustic. The sound you get is so amazing, It really fills the room your playing, unlike the electric with an amp. The amp tends to focus the sound to much and garble it al together. The great thing about acoustic guitars, is that depending on the room your playing, it will sounds completely different, it just depends on what type of walls and flooring and even furniture. Check out OLGA.net for tablature and great hand and eye exercises. Also, go to the bookstore and get the "picture Chord Encyclopedia" printed by Hal-Leonard. It has over 2600 chords all with actual photos of hand placement. its more of a reference than a learning tool though...but still invaluable. Good luck with the guitar....next thing you need is a 12 track, mixer, triton, and a fast computer running Qubase, Than you’ll be ready to go. So many expensive hobbies, so little money!

Im sure that if you put a wanted add out, you would get some offers. goodluck!

Pete, I was not specifically pointing to anyone, just bringing up something. And marquee bigotry should not be tolerated, but somebody saying that they would prefer to keep "their" own swaps all Nissan, and another person saying that "Ford sucks and anyone else that puts anything but a Nissan engine in a Z is a moron", are two very different things. Anyhow, Unfortunately, this is what growth does. This is a popular place lately, and its best to accept the growth, but with limits. If you stifle the growth, its possible to cut out the best part of Being a member of Hybridz.org.....soaking up new info and ideas! These are just my opinions, the founders of this site can do whatever they please, and they have no obligations to satisfy anyone. But seeing as how this site is home to so many different enthusiasts, but with on common goal, it would be a shame to alienate some of them. Chances are, just like the founders of this site, We all came here for a reason...the other sites just didn’t fit the bill, and were possibly alienating them as well. G'night all!

Well said JohnC and Afshin, I couldn’t have said it better myself, but I am going to try I joined this site when I first considered my turbo conversion, and I was a member of Zcar.com/Zdriver long before that. While there is good information there, you have to fight the idiots or "experts" to get to it. This leads to false information, and heated internet slap fights. That forum fell apart about five months before I joined here. When I first came here I didn’t post for a long time, I would read through each and every forum soaking up as much info as I could. And if I didn’t find the info i was looking for...or if it wasn’t clear to me, then I would post. I visit HybridZ.org every single day. This is my start page, and I love to read as many posts as possible, whether its V8, RB or L6. The way I have always viewed this site, is that it was for people that LOVE the Z car, as long as its well engineered and not factory stock, its a HybridZ. What I feel is needed, is not removal of forums or even heavy moderation, but the combination of some forums, ALL of the with a clear and detailed FAQ section at the very top. I would combine the forums like this: Chevy V8 Ford V8 Other V8 Alternative 6 cylinder other power plants (4 bangers, rotary, electric V12 etc) Miscellaneous Tech High Tech Board Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis Drive train Paint and Body Ignition Turbo / Supercharger Exhaust EFI / Fuel Injection Carburetors Body Kit/Kit Car by combining the l6,rb, and alt 6 boards, I think you can clear out a bunch of riff-raff and you’ll see a big drop in lamers with stupid questions. if you give them a place to go, and make it real easy for them, they will post and post and post. Keep all the general forums, and lose all the club forums. Also, I noticed that as soon as the forum software change over happened, all the lamers started to show up. (again this goes with making it easy for them) also, you no longer see the mission statement every time you visit the main page. this might have something to do with it. But as I said before, A lot of bigger site have a great FAQ section that really helps out the new people....so the DONT have to ask a "dumb" question. not only would it make the newbie’s feel more welcome, but it would educate them as well. There are ALOT of young to older people that are getting into the scene, whether its Z cars or camaros they have to start somewhere, we as educated experienced enthusiasts should seek out to edjucate instead of alienate. that is the key to a long and happy forum life. Better moderation with a FAQ is key! Also, some "keep it Nissan" members are not bashing anyone, they are stating an opinion, nothing more. it seems that some people are very sensitive to that, and need to relax just a little. BUT, I totally agree though, that anyone that pushed his or her beliefs, be it all Nissan or all V8 should be banned or put on warning. WE are ALL HybridZ'ers , WE all share a common interest of modifying Datsun/Nissan Z cars. That’s what makes this site a great place on the web. If it comes down to it, I will pay a membership fee in order to keep this site the great place it is for all! Well, during this post I have ate my dinner, burned two CD's and talked to my LD girlfriend. Sorry if it seems a bit thrown together. As Always I love this site! The only reason I know what I do, and the only reason my 240ZT runs and drives, is because of ALL members and forums on this site! Keep the Z alive!

Ive been using a cheap "chicago electric" that i bought from harbor frieght. its a small 110V mig thats does flux core or gas welding. its got some adjustment, but not much. it can also be a real PITA to try the thin stuff. I would say for the 180$ I paid for it...its well worth it. although im looking for a nice cheap TIG welder so that I can start welding alum. and stainless. Ive been looking at a Tig from HTP. called the invertig. http://www.usaweld.com/product_page/tig_welder/tig100.html its about 600$ and weighs 12 pounds! it seems to be a nice budget TIG machine. but, Ive never used one so I cannot realy comment on its reliablilty or weld quality. for now im just going to stick with my little MIG. considering that I dont even know what country Im going to be living in in two years, the last thing I want to do is buy some big welder that I have to drag around with me.

believe it or not, there is a HUGE difference in winter weather from dallas to houston. consider that they are around 400+ miles apart, (more or less straight north) most cold fronts seam to stop just north of austin in the winter, leaving San Antonio and H-town to bake in the heat. Down south we are lucky to even see a seasonal difference in weather. last FEB. when my girl friend and I went snowboarding, it was 87degrees when we left SA. and 2 degrees when we crossed the texas boarder into New Mexico. its a big state, and you can have many different kinds of weather at the same time all over the place. personally, I cant stand houston, but then again I have some personal issues with that place. probably pretty un-called for in the long run, but thats what makes humans humans. wow, /end rant.

Lessons learned and interesting observations (turbo: week 1)
Sparky replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Well, Im sorry the exhaust didnt work out for you. I guess im just a glutton for punishment with my setup What kind of BOV did you get? I bought a GFB hybrid BOV thats got two ports, one to vent to atmosphere, and one the vent back into the intake. they are offset so that the intake gets vented first (at low speeds and boost.) this helps with the problem you where having (and that most AFM cars get with a BOV) and still gives you a good SPWOOSH sound. anywho, glad to hear its coming together nicely... -
just to add my .02. Ive had great success with some stuff called "seal all" its available at home depot, and comes in a little (or big) yellow tube. its good stuff, and things like gasoline or other chemicals wont break it down. anywho...goodluck

well, not that im making great progress, but I figured that im bored, and what better thing to do when your bored than to check out HybridZ.org. this is a car I bought from a member a couple months ago. I had (have) the intention of making it my daily driver after I sold my plymouth, and while I wait for my turbo car to finish at everyone elses shop. well, school starts on the 25th, and I leave for cali on vacation in 16 days. so bascially, that leaves me with 4 full days off. and every afternoon. Dont know if im gonna make it or not, but im sure gonna try! things i have left are: All the wiring (I shaved the firewall and am in the process of hiding all the wires in the fresh air vents, or on the bottom of the trans/oil pan. the engine (Compression tests A-ok, but everything else is up in the air (has not run in 12 years)(engine is from my RIP series one) Body work (ive shaved the marker lights and ant. Ive also made a custom radio ant. on the roof) I still have to give her the final guide coat and spray away. she will be flat black. Int work Ive reaplace the floors already, and have braced the seat brackets. but everything else still needs to be done. Boy i have alot of work, but feel that I can atleast get the car running and driving in that short amount of time. we shall see. here are the pics. as she stood yesterday. shes rolling around now in my garage with most of the major body work done. the engine comp. suspension detail: So anywho, thanks for looking, also....feel free to come over and help me out....its crunch time, and the work load is huge. but If yous guys cant make it out...feel free to send money! (or beer) laterZ

I would semi-restore it. weld in a new roof, sell all that add on body crap, just a general cleaning if you will. if the rails ar good, and its "almost" rust free, then thats the path I would take. BTW, if you want to trade the triples for some SUs, or TWO sets of SU's than I would love to make that happen! I also have a line on some great rust free body parts from lots of 240Zs! EDIT: I also have BOXES of series on parts in storage, including a nice wiring harness.

If you've ever run your ZT w/o muffler please chime in here!
Sparky replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
yeah, thats alot of cash for press bent. A total rip IMHO. my local muffler shop charged me 53$ for my 3" system. -
What size rear rotor for Wilwood brakes?
Sparky replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
yeah, same size for sure, not really necessary, but nothing looks sweeter than HUGE brakes front and rear! as soon as a front and rear package becomes available I will be buying your kit. keep up the good work. -

Comparing a NA cars open exhaust to what you can expect from your turbo car is silly, two completely different animals. I ran with an open 3" DP (DP was about 1.8ft long) for a day or two, as stated before, you can really hear the turbo chopping the air away, but it is kinda loud (nothing I would drive for a while, but a couple days is a-ok) I then went and had a Straight 3" system built that dumps at the diff in a funky turn down bend/cut. I LOVE IT! and plan to keep it that way for a while, The only thing that bothered me about it on its 200mile maiden voyage, was the heat coming off the DP cooking my feet Im running a T04B with a larger turbine so the sounds might be a little different, But I promise that it will be quiter than 90% of all those fart honduhs out there. I also know alot of turbo guys that run straight pipe, no cop problems what so ever, and the sound is just Soooooo sweet, makes me feel like a little kid when I hear thier cars comming around the corner. When running a muffler, get a straight through design, the goal is to run as little backpressure after the turbo as possible. -
183 bucks for side drafts! wow....can you PM the link to that ebay auction or his other items?

Its a great idea, but liability is a serious issue, as well as the maturity level of others in your school. In my local AutoX club, we get some local highschoolers in attendance, and sometimes, they get kicked out for speeding in the parking lot, or doing donuts and burnouts. im not trying to be an ass by saying that, but its a fact of the matter that your going to get a couple self-proclaimed badasses that are going to ruin it for the rest of the good folks. Do you have a local SCCA chapter? Maybe your best bet would be to work out somekinds of discount with the locals for students. after you work that out, try to get one of the local autox gurus to agree to come to the school at teach some basics. run your proposal by your highschool and see what happens. also try to find a teacher thats involved in some form of motorsprorts, having a teacher to back you up will help big-time. anywho, goodluck.

well, after searching the archives in both Zcar.com and here. I still have yet to find the info I need. Im dropping the engine in my 240 tomarrow. im using the late 4-speed, with a L24 and the smaller flywheel. the problem im having, is i have TWO very different throwout bearing collars: BOTH of these collars came off 4speeds, The only diff i can think of, is that one of those was an early 4speed and the other a late 4speed. something else im thinking , is that the trans that was in the car (but missing the motor) was using the L28 with the larger flywheel but the late 4-speed. SOOOO, to make a long question short, which one do i use! argh, I should have payed attention when i drop the trans off the running series one engine combo! D'OH thanks for any help, im getting the flywheel resurfaced tomarrow morning, and im going to have him put the new bearing on the collar, I sure want to get this done right the first time!
