  1. nice site...can you link to images from an outside source? also...sometimes only 1/16th of the photo shows up in the album preview mode...sometimes in the editing window that happens again.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6188&item=2452803794#ebayphotohosting sure is purdy!
  3. autometer sells something like that already, small peices of plastic tube cut at and angle thats meant to angle gauges that are mounted on irregular surfaces.
  4. that has to be one of the most damn ugly creations from the last four years. how come ever manufacture has to make there cars look like the 350Z....or Audi TT....or everything else... and here I thought that they couldnt make another eclipse as bad as the one thats out now... "surely the next gen will be semi decent looking" ...Guess I was wrong.
  5. WTF?! I assume that because there is no incredibly shrill nerd screaming that the kids hand is still intact. if not...I would be interested in seeing the aftermath of such stupidity. over and out.
  6. got this link of of Zcar.com....thought yall would enjoy it... hope its not anybody here http://fullyrace.com/trailer.wmv
  7. Mike, I dont know what other Nissan oil caps will fit...but I do know that any Honda four banger cap will fit. ( I just had to add a little Z to my daily driver accord, so I put a spare nissan cap on it ). anywho...you could always go to an auto parts store and ask for a oil cap froma Z32, Z31 and S30...chances are...it wil bring up a universal part number for the generic "Help" brand. if they all come up with the same number for the generic part...than you know it will fit!
  8. I have the utmost respect for those feet.... ...the human foot truly is a work of engineering genius...just think of the forces that they are subjected to.
  9. Wow, Dan, that looks great, Im hoping I can see it in person. I know that the only way to get the full effect is to see all the work thats gone into your car.....beauty in the details. BTW...love the "Los Gatos Ferrari"
  10. cool, I guess im not getting anywork on the car done today, turns out that i turned on the TV to see that the speed channel is running an all-day rally thon today, from start of season to finish! ZaWeet! anyhwo, though yall rally fans out there would like to know.
  11. The shop I used to work for is the only dealer for the westfield cars in the western hemisphere. our first built was a megabusa 8 in full carbone fiber... it uses a six speed sequential gear box for the bike adapted to the RWD config....the great thing about it, was that you had 6 FWD gears...and 6 Reverse gears! TopGear in the UK did test on a megabusa8 and set a record for the fastest speed ever recorded in reverse... something like 127 MPH! check out this site: http://www.dpcars.net/westfld/index.htm also...check out the rest of his site.....must be very nice to have all those toys..and all that money...
  12. Mike, I've got about two years of experiance with these "7" style cars, including a ground up resto on a real series one Lotus seven, and a build up of a megabusa8. http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/megabusa.htm'>http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/megabusa.htm check out the book "build your own sports car for 250"pounds"" by Ron champion. It gives you step by step, as well as complete and detailed blue prints on how to build these things. check out these sites: http://www.championmotorcars.com/ http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/ http://www.caterham.co.uk/ http://www.motorsportsensation.com/cars/cat7.htm http://www.angelfire.com/biz6/stalkerv6/ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1859606369/qid=1072499027/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-8591198-6490308?v=glance&s=books so far, I have sen the following engines in these cars: 302 289 ecotek SR20 13bt hyabusa B18 B23 (volvo) and many old cosworth four bangers. feel free to drop me a line anytime about these little things, I have detailed pictures of assembly on all aspects of the westfield cars, as well as direct ties to the factory in the UK. laterZ
  13. your local ACE hardware should rent them. autozone sells them but doesnt rent. True value should also rent them the TrueValue price is 25$ for 24 hours.
  14. Come to think of it.... I used to have this small plastic Underdog action figure stuck on my dash...made a great motivator during the autoXs.
  15. Couldn’t have said it better myself Jon. Well done. Maybe instead of constant bashing, some of us could try and actually be a positive influence and add to Juans future and current products, instead of constant negative criticisms. Or some of us can keep being negative, never adding any substance, and yet another Z vender will close up shop. Seems some people just like to jump on the bandwagon. "I have no real shop or machining experience, but that just doesn’t "sound" right to my "expert, no actual training, bench racer ears". Please contribute. Any-who, not trying to sound like an ass, and I’m not pointing fingers in anyway. We, as a community of Zcar enthusiasts, should band together and HELP each other out in order to better OUR community and further the development of quality parts for Z cars.
  16. wasnt the old Datsun logo a Griffin? that would be kinda cool. although the new SAAB logo has the griffin head on it. (or so ive heard.)
  17. your right about the 16V B23 having as much HP as a the 8V B23T. thats one reason that it is much more appealing to me than the 8V B23T. Im building this Volvo to be a nice Sporty car that rides smooth, and quiet, but can get out of its own way in a straight line as well as through the curves. I have several goals for this car, and one is a smooth FI DOHC turbo engine. I have been looking into the possibilty of getting the B23T block and then just adding the DOHC head, according to all the info i have found, its the same basic block for both. But still, its all up in the air, I have just only scratched the surface regarding the amount of research that I most do for this project. having just drove an RX8, I must say that a rotary would be really cool, but I must build this P1800 using all Volvo parts, the owner must be able to take it to a Volvo shop to have anywork done that it might need. the last thing he wants is to have to take it to some high $$$ guru because the engine is nissan, the brakes are wilwood the rear is S15 and the wiring is full custom.
  18. cool, thanks for the info. I really need to go to the junkyard and check that engine out. the width at the bottom because of the balance shafts my cause some frame rail contact. if that happens than i cant use that engine anyway. Im not sure what the R/S ratio is, I will have to look into that. Im just now doing some in depth research into the Volvo project, so i have a good deal of time to get it all sorted and on paper before I take out the tools and start wrenching. thanks again for all the great info! Gotta love this site!
  19. I will admit that i dont have much experiance with four-bangers but im starting to look into my future Volvo P1800 upgrade. I did some research, and found the B234f 2.3L DOHC four banger that I think would be a great upgrade to the little P series. but I have a question about it. the engine has two balance shafts on either side near the oil pan driven by a belt. how reliable are these things, and why use them? the Sr20 or Ca18 can live without them right? so why cant this engine? is it a problem in basic design?, kinda like a bandaid fix? from what I understand, they just added a DOHC head to an existing B23 four banger, would adding this head have caused a balance problem. anywho, what im really trying to get at, is WHY a balance shaft? Pros?-cons? I personally dont like the idea, thinking that its just two more things for the engine to spin around. anyone care to set me straight...or just filled my head with info? thanks
  20. pioneer used to make a 50 or 100 disc automotive changer that you could wire in a series until you get eh desired amount of CDs. anywho...they were not cheap, and very bulky. best bet is to get a 6 or 12 disc changer that can handle MP3s the sound quality might suck, but with our loud as shlt cars...nobody will notice
  21. Way ahead of you... The P1800 in the pictures was the car I drove through Highschool and my first year of college until the motor let go from the 100 mile a day trips. Right now its sitting in storage waiting on funding for its new heart. either a CA18DET, or a SR20DET. but...The problem i find is that since im building it for my father, I want him to be able to take it to a volvo dealership to get it fixed instead of having to check a list of hybrid parts that his car has. Hes the type of person that likes to drive it and forget it. so that gets me thinking about creating a Hybrid P1800 using only volvo parts. maybe from the C convertable, im talking suspension, brakes, drivetrain, and some of the interior. The P1800 in the pictures is a 1962..vin number 2506! try calling the DMV to register that one...confuses the hell out of em. it was part of the trial production run that was built by Jenson under a three year contract to produce 10,000 from 1960-1963. Unforunatly, Volvo was not happy with the jenson coachworks, and extreamly upset with the South african assembler. Volvo cancled their contract with Jenson after only 6000 units. After that, they built their own production facility in sweden, and went back into production of the P1800S in 1964. Any P1800 built from 1964 on is an S model, designating of course...Sweden. So thats the volvo 1800 lesson for today.
  22. I know that car. thats the Kick ass turbo civic that stomps the hell out of vipers right? it even has the stock tail pipe! I have the highest respect for a well done auto, be it honda, datsun, or chevy... that civic hatch is b-dad-ass
