  1. I can't say, but I can tell you that you could see at least a 100 peak HP variance simply based on the tune. You could put a bad tune on it and make 250HP at the flywheel and then get it tuned professionally and see over 350HP.
  2. You're not kidding! Why not get rid of some of those looms? It would take 30 seconds and be far more palatable.
  3. If you have the correct overall diameter, it shouldn't make much difference. Really, it looks like your tires are under 24". I don't recall the specific "correct" tire height, but yours look smaller.
  4. The engines of the Z31's that came with the LSD are also the more sought-after VG30ET's for various reasons. Some guys like the seats, too - I've seen them in 280ZX's.
  5. FWIW - you don't have to "drill and tap" it. It's just a hole that needs to open up into the oil pan, so nothing fancy. It's very low pressure. You could get away with one of those fittings that is a bit like a metal valve stem (as on your wheels) in the way that it is fastened. If you want to tap it and put a good fitting on it, that works, too.
  6. A 2JZGE pan assembly works fine. You only have to modify it for the turbo oil drain. You can learn more by looking around SupraForums.com or similar.
  7. It's not cheap because it's uber rare and I paid just over $800 after shipping, if I recall, and people agree I got a fantastic deal on it. I'll try to remember to look you up if/when it goes up for sale.
  8. I have a R200 3.15 LSD that could, sadly, be up for sale before long. It would be great for you. I've been having to sell stuff and am about to start looking at parts of the Z to get rid of.
  9. Looks great. However, it seems like it would have been good to just go with a carbon fiber or fiberglass bumper instead and sell that bumper to someone going original. Oh well, just a thought.
  10. Not my experience when sending stuff via Priority Mail - from Austin,TX to San Francisco has been 3 days at longest; whereas UPS Ground consistently is around 5-6 days. Priority Mail is typically on par pricewise with FedEx Ground and UPS Ground. First Class Mail is a nice cheaper option. In the end, the best service to use is highly dependent on location and the size/weight of the item being shipped. If you're shipping out in the middle of nowhere, UPS and FedEx are really expensive; meanwhile, USPS stays pretty close to the same rates.
  11. I didn't think there was a difference among the L28 pans and pickups. If they're the same, I have mine available.
  12. Unfortunately, you've only tested "get the hell out of here." That's not enough proof.
  13. You might start with the Toyota L6 forum where a number of JZ swaps are being done (or have been done) in S30's and even a Z31 and Z32 swap. That's a laughable statement and you'll be hard-pressed to prove (even at least explain) that there are "at least 30 other engines that are better in almost every way." You have some qualifying to do. Also, it's that same old forbidden language on HybridZ: "there is no best." If there is a best, you can be sure the 2JZGTE is on the short lists of a lot of people whom you respect, guys that know their stuff and could care less about the Fast and Furious fanboy hype of the 2JZ-GTE. Even the 2JZGE is a fantastic motor in n/a form but has been proven to handle nitrous and high boost.
  14. Go easy on him and give him the benefit of your doubt that "zerocell" is short for "zero brain cells."
  15. Exactly. Too few guys do this when they drop in 4cyl and V6 motors or when setting back an I6, like me, or a compact V8.
  16. Why not just move the radiator and intercooler further back in the engine bay?
  17. Except the intake pipe (PVC), the rotted radiator connection, and the rusty front cover.
  18. Clearly you're new to forums. Please either go searching for that info or PM him directly instead of threadjacking.
  19. I haven't seen the V160 and R154 side-by-side, but, knowing the R154 fills the entire tranny tunnel of a 240Z and a V160 fits, I can't imagine the V160 being much larger (wider, anyways). The turbo MKIV Supras come with a 3.13 rear end, but they have slightly taller tires and they weigh about 800lbs more than a 280Z. I have a LSD R200 with a 3.15 to run with my R154; the 3.15 is very rare, FYI. I think a 3.36 would be fine, too. The R230 is always an option, as well. Here is my thread about the ratios I have to work with: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=134484
  20. I vote you use the Craigslist rental program. That's what I'm doing.
  21. Am I missing something? Why is this link posted in this thread?
  22. Sorry, I know there aren't pictures or explanations for each thing. It was really a quick way to get you pointed to the right guys to message. There are some pictures toward the end of the 2JZ in a 240Z thread, but none for transmission clearance. Just message those guys, though I'm betting Russel will jump in here at some point of his own volition.
  23. 240Z with 2JZGTE and V160 - http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=91359 , so it does fit but it is tight. The R154 is about the same size as the V160 so you will have to cut of the original factory tranny mount "ears" in the tranny tunnel to fit it. I'm 90% sure you'd need a different driveshaft when switching from auto to manual. This fellow Austrailian of yours has a 1JZ'd 240Z and converted from auto to manual after awhile. He did a great write-up with pictures and, I'm sorry to say, if you really did search, you would have found this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127163 Lots of different diffs are being used. Some have used the R230 while others stick with the 3.7 R200, and I'll be putting in a 3.15 LSD R200 with my R154 - we'll see how that goes.
  24. I can't imagine anyone even running a 1GGTE - it's a pretty obscure engine and certainly not worth using unless it was already in the car.
  25. While not a real clean look, it would be easy enough to basically poke a hole in part of the filter and have a nipple sticking out of it. There are fittings out there that can poke out of the filter and have a nut that threads to seal it tight. Just have it poke out on the side of the filter facing the turbo; I'm of course not talking about the filter element (ie cloth/paper) but the plastic or rubber.
