  1. You being 25 makes me feel old at 30. I loved being in the Quarter Century Club. I tell all my lady friends that's the best age, so don't feel old.
  2. You can't just have good thoughts, you gotta do something about it! My wife and I neti potted for the first time this weekend. I've always had kinda clogged sinuses, especially in the morning. Air purifiers don't work. So far, I'm very pleased with the results - I feel like I can actually breathe solely in/out of my nose instead of partially relying on my mouth. That kinda makes me seem like one of those really fat guys who breathes loudly in/out of his mouth loudly - I'm not... I'm hot! Now we're looking for a couples nasal irrigation so we can do it together at the same time. Sweet video demonstration from some dude: For reference of hilarity for those of you not up at crazy hours when the crazy people are out crazing around: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=147114
  3. Sounds good, but I have no doubt the paint on the tail lights then looked screwy (ie doesn't match the body) and the light was way too dim. Your idea of not affecting the brightness much is most likely too dim for legality and too dim for most other people to see well enough in daylight.
  4. Pretty dim, but thanks for the example. I think headlights would be perfectly legal like this, but tail lights usually have some reflector in them so lights shining on them will show up better. Either that or a separate reflective bit somewhere else.
  5. ditto You know, Braap, I didn't get a birthday wish thread from you a week ago; I had to make my own
  6. They look good in the video. I'd have to see them in person in the daylight to decide if I'd be willing to try something similar. The stock 280Z lights are nothing to brag about, though, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad change. Thanks for the video. Perhaps getting two and filling up the entire gap they're in would be a good-looking adjustment. Or, perhaps there's enough room to wrap around your the stock headlamps and look decent.
  7. It already is a nightmare. Perhaps they could've figured out a way to put a slightly larger single in one place. Considering the other big three Jap cars (VR-4, Supra, RX-7) went with some variation of twins, I doubt it was merely for packaging; at the time, I don't think they were too sharp on the technology to have a larger single spooling at the same speed. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the math, but I have no doubt that math is missing some of the "practical" variables of the time.
  8. Even parallel twins spool very quickly, if sized correctly like the 300ZX Twin Turbo. The purpose was drivability, which can be translated to "quick spooling," much like the tiny, stock turbochargers on the 1.8T VW/Audis and the SRT-4 Neons.
  9. It's amazing how well the 9's seem to fit in front... even the 10's in rear.
  10. First thought: leverage. You didn't mention it but I'm sure you've consider it. You'll need a firmer spring to retain the same relative spring rate (bad wording, sorry). Is the spring/shock assembly the only thing preventing a wheel/tire from reaching a couple more inches into the wheel well? I've assumed there were other clearance issues that were essentially a non-issue while the spring/shock assembly is in its stock location. Still, it's an interesting idea and shows you're thinking outside the box.
  11. If you're not using the VG30ET, I'm curious why you're asking these guys specifically. Also, your signature still says "VG30ET swap in progress."
  12. Prepare to be Tool Shedded. There is plenty of info about this topic in many threads here. You don't even have to use the Search button - just peruse the first page of the RB section and you'll be good to go.
  13. I'm going to guess you were running some type of V8 upwards of 6.0L versus this 3.0L engine with stock cams. Plus, the 20+ psi this system is putting out is probably a very efficient (cooler, for starters) volume of air.
  14. I first saw one of those plates on a 2000HP BBC twin turbo Camaro a couple years ago at the drag strip. Once in a while I consider doing that with my project... but that's kinda dirty.
  15. They've got a test drive video of Chris Johnson's SC300 running this kit. It's a full-weight SC300 (about 3600lbs, I believe) with an entire stock Supra drivetrain. Because it's not as peaky, it doesn't seem quite as fast as a ~600HP big single, if you know what I mean.
  16. I think that saying pertains to the "other" glove, if you know what I mean
  17. I've been a gloves man for the past several months because I was having to interview for jobs and needed unstained hands and clean fingernails. Now I'm hooked. While you do loose tactile sense and a bit of dexterity, I now have the same philosophy for working on the car as I do riding my motorcycle - soon enough, I won't know how I did without them. Plus, now my hands are softer and cleaner and my wife loves it when I caress her large.... nevermind.
  18. All sorts wrong. I haven't look at the ad, but I do see a brake booster on the passenger side.
  19. I don't know how "direct" a T5 from a Camaro will be because the T5's don't all have the same tail-housings, for example. The cases, bellhousings, and mounting points could all be different, too. If your Nissan 5spd is in good shape, you might be able to get $150 for it. I had to sell two transmissions (1-4spd, 1-5spd) for $30 because nobody would take them for $100. They were both in good shape.
  20. If it's the original 5spd, you do not have a T5. Even if you do, it's highly unlikely you can make it work with the GM motor.
  21. Uh, yeah... you're thinking of the 1950's Wicked runs, but the 1/8 bores the poop out of me.
  22. Slow... but I expected that. It's a stock 2 liter turbo engine trying to pull a 3500lb(?) pickup. I'd still be interested in some video.
  23. 1_fast_z is the only one who knows what's going on in this thread to date. However, he's not being very forthcoming (that's fine, by the way). I don't know a great deal about turbocharging but I can say that Grim should start with the "basics" of pressure and fluids (air) and then just with simple single turbochargers and the ideas behind them. Compound turbocharging is NOT equal to sequential turbocharging - this hasn't been explicitly stated. Think of sequential turbos as steps, as 1_fast_z outlined above. Compound setups are still a bit elusive to me, but they basically reciprocate duties rather than waiting the duty to be handed off from the other (they do at times come on together but do not compliment each other). The compound setups feed each other.
  24. I know him all too well, including how much money he has owed me for almost 9 months now and dodging me for just as as long. It wouldn't be good for anybody if I went hunting for him again. He keeps saying he doesn't have the money but how does someone go from 500HP to 750HP without any money? Shaggy = furious but patient. For the record, I "sold" him a Z31 LSD in fantastic shape for $400 (yep, the same LSD that sells regularly on eBay for $750) when he got in a pinch with his failing LSD. I knew how much it was worth and decided to do him a favor and didn't even make him pay immediately, nor am I charging him interest and I've never threatened him with theft, violence or legal action and told him I wouldn't. All those racing videos online of him are with my car part. Over the course of about 5 months, I had to hunt him down twice and just say "hey, at least call me and make some sort of effort to seem like you're trying to pay me back." He was deceptively contrite and has continued to take a dump on our friendship and his credibility. If he ever pays me back, I'll make note of it here. FWIW - this is the first time I've publicly said who it was that has screwed me over.
