  1. Victoria-ish area... just a ferry ride away! Thoguh the Z is up island a bit, and the insurance ran out 2 days ago!
  2. You Are 88% Cynical You're cynicism borders on paranoia. Worry less. You're out to get the world as much as it's out to get you. How Cynical Are You? http://www.blogthings.com/howcynicalareyouquiz/
  3. Mike, you are really lighting a fire under me to find myself the M Coupe that I've always dreamed of...
  4. I can do up to a 400% increase with about 10 seconds of fiddling. So if the operator is setting things up so his numbers look better....
  5. The difference is simply this: A car that takes 11 seconds to travel down a 1/4 mile strip, takes 11 seconds. A car that makes 300rwhp on a dyno, doesn't make 300rwhp, because almost none of the machines out there calculate hp correctly. At the very least they don't calculate hp the same! A dynojet horsepower is different than a dynopack horsepower, is different than a dynocom horsepower. Now imagine if every 1/4 mile strip used a different "second" as a measure of time, and then trying to compare 1/4 mile times to each other... that's where the dyno world is right now... and consequently why I speak against this kind of comparison.
  6. It has been discussed. The problem is you cannot by any means use the numbers from 2 different dynos in any type of legitimate comparison. As a dyno owner, misquoted and misunderstood dyno numbers and graphs seen on the internet take a huge portion of my time to explain to my customers what they mean, and why they aren't making as much horsepower as other cars "I read about on the internet". People lie. Whether its the person posting the numbers, or the dyno operators, or the dyno manufacturers. The only way to use a dyno is as a comparison tool. With that in mind there is no way I'd ever support a dyno database here personally... Just because I don't want to see other dyno owners stuck with trying to explain to someone why their car isn't making as much power as some car they read about on the internet. You could always start a thread in a forum though...
  7. Typically I'd expect much more than a 20% loss from an auto tranny. Manual trannies are in the 15-20% range typically.
  8. Dude, just stunning. One of the nicest Z's I've seen in a long, long time. You should be very proud of it!
  9. Rumour has it that his genitals are installed... upside down. We don't know if it's true or not, but we call him the SuperDan.
  10. It's not detonation from what you describe. See if you can measure with a dial indicator on the furthest throttle lever away from where your throttle shaft is actuated, the amount of deflection in the system as the throttle is applied. If you are using heavy return springs or a small diameter throttle shaft you will be surprised at how much change there can be there. Is your set of carbs a matched trio, or are they pieced together from 2 or more sets?
  11. Definately check part throttle. I've seen a lot of webers suffer from differences in angle of twist of the throttle shafts, throwing them out of balance more as the throttle is opened...
  12. Any chance your webers are just out of balance? They make a fluttering sound that I could see mistaken for detonation if they are off balance by any apreciable margin. It is much easier to hear at light throttle than at any other driving situation.
  13. LOL Garrett, nice sig pic. I wouldn't buy supra injectors again just because of the clips. The only ones I could find were old and brittle, I managed to piece together a set from 2 cars that was good, but it was a pain in the butt. Buy 440cc RC injectors and get the standard bosch clip. You can still get those off the shelf new.
  14. I used the origional feed line (5/16) as my return line, and ran a new feed line. (3/8") Seems to work well.
  15. Huge props for The Balvenie... try it sometime.
  16. I deleted 7 posts on this thread. It was interesting enough to this point that I decided not to delete the whole thread. Those involved can consider themselves warned. No political discussions on Hybridz, and that includes terrorism.

    SDS problems

I had something similar happen... turned out I had picked up power for my fuel pump relay through the circuit that worked the seatbelt light. Every time I got in to drive away, I put on my seatbelt, and the car died. Took a while to find it. You sure something similar isn't happening? I'm sure you didn't do the same thing, but it just shows how easy it is to overlook something and think your problems are elsewhere...
  18. That's true! No 2WD models ever sold here. I've always liked them, but the engines are a bit of a pain to work on as far as access goes. Just about everything is a pain to do to those engines.
  19. Here's a good guideline for all those wondering why: Pretend hybrid is a big party thrown at SuperDan's house. If you are rude, insolent, abusive, etc. we don't want you at our party. If you wouldn't act that way to the persons face, don't do it here. If you WOULD act that way to a persons face, don't do it here.
