  1. To play it safe you would want to go with the 0 offset. I remember reading that the -10 and -15 Shakotans do not look any different than the zero offset version. In other words they are not deeper at the center and do not have a bigger lip, not sure why someone posted that they look much better. They achieve their lower offset with a thicker backing when they go through the machining process, not unlike a built in spacer. My recommendation for someone running this wheel (using stock fenders and stock or coilover suspension) would be the following: Front 15x8 zero offset with 205/55/15 tires Rear 15x9 zero offset with 225/50/15 tires The above would retain the same height front and rear, tuck under the fenders nicely and in my opinion look very sharp because the tire stretch would be very minimal. The 15x8 Shakotans are also very nice looking, the 15x7s look weird to me. Hopefully this information helps you, let us know what you decide.
  2. Thanks for the pics zeeboost, I think they just may be the same flares. The red car looks really nice, almost has the profile of a Lamborghini Miura SV. I only want to change the rear of my car (has minor flaring) since the front is still stock and I did not want to ruin the sheet metal. In your opinion, If I were to leave the front stock would it look odd with these flares installed on my car? Thanks
  3. MonkeyT88, I know this is an old thread but did you ever install these? I am still curious and looking for pictures if anyone can help.
  4. Looks to me that it could be lowered an inch or two, you could have also went with a higher profile tire which would have filled more of the wheel well. I think if you lowered it more you would find that flares are not required. I would like to see these wheels with the center painted silver, like they were on the Mangusta, the spokes look a little skinny because of the black paint.
  5. Anyone heard if these are going to be released in some nice sizes and offsets that will fit an S30? Apparently they are available overseas in a 15x8 4x114.3 bolt pattern but I can't confirm this.
  6. Please do not take this personally, but can someone tell me why this wheel seems popular? Still scratching my head.....
  7. I have searched the net looking for a 225/60/15 sized tire on a 9 inch wheel and it has been frustrating trying to find. I have seen 225/50/15 but I wanted to see what it would look like with a taller side wall. Also would like to see a 205/60/15 tire on an 8 inch wide wheel if anyone has pics of those as well. Thanks
  8. Out of the three new XXR's I like the look of the 532's but they could have made improvements to it's look when it was under design. For one thing they could have just copied the ATS Classic, Work Ewing III or the HRE 505 which all look better or even kept the current design and improved the way it looks in the center. The first thing I thought when looking at the wheel was: "Wow they finally made a 5 spoke wheel that looks vintage, but why does the center of the wheel not look right?" After looking at them for some time, I concluded that I did not like the flat center part of the wheel nor do I care for the 8 hole design. I may be the only one here but I find the 531's a little busy looking and the 530's with their spokes hanging almost outside of the wheel just look ridiculous.
  9. Yikes, I guess I was day dreaming when I thought there was an easier way than to dismantle my front brakes and remove hubs. Adapters may be a solution, but minimum would be 15mm which would stick out too far. Thanks for the reply.
  10. I am in a dilemma right now where I need to space out one of my wheels further which has a +10 offset to compensate for the other being +3 offset. I tried placing a 5mm slip on spacer and the wheel would not bolt up. They do bolt up fine in the rear and this is not surprising since front stock studs on an S30 are 32 mm long and the rears are 40mm long. My question is how difficult is it to remove the front studs and replace them with longer ones?
  11. Hi everyone, was not sure where to post this so I thought I would try here. I am looking for someone who sells rear hatch vents for a 70-71 240z and ships to Canada. I do not see them on MSA's website. There is someone currently who is selling them on Ebay but for some odd reason they will not ship to Canada. Thanks, any lead is much appreciated.
  12. You should not have a problem on a ZX, many people run the rota RB-R's with the 17x9 -13 and they are a perfect fit. The ZX has more clearance than the S30.
  13. Reg, your wheels look great, the -15 offset would only be good if you wanted to run flares which would spoil the look of your car. Be happy with it, I would be.
  14. Comicartist, I just noticed that they are now available in 15x9 with a -15 offset, these maybe aggressive enough for you, or maybe not! My link
  15. He did mention that he is using 195's which could be creating the issue you mentioned in the rear. Personally, on a 9 inch wheel I would not go less than a 225. The car does look great with those wheels, I love their vintage look.
  16. Tommott77, if I remember correctly the wheels on the white ZG are actually 15x10 with a 205 tire. The 15x9 Shakotan's with a wider 225 would not be nearly as stretched.
  17. If that is the look you are after than 15x9 minus 10 offset Rota's would be your most affordable option. IMHO, the real Hayashi's like the ones in the picture are a little wider but not worth the extra 2 grand it would cost you to purchase them.
  18. The picture you are using are of actual Hayashi Streets, the Rota's are a very good knock-off. I think I like them even more with a solid colored center. The below image shows a very sexy Detomaso Mangusta with similar wheels, the Hayashi Street's from Japan are actually knock-offs of these Italian wheels!
  19. I am not running them, but I am thinking about it. I think 15x9 zero offset would be too narrow for a Z with ZG flares. They do have the -10 offset which would be better (especially in the rear). I could see the 15x9 zero offset working up front with the ZG Flares. Another issue would be tire size, or lack of wide tires for 15 inch wheels. A 225/50/15 is a size with good options and would not be very stretched on a 9 inch wheel. My situation is that I have slight flaring in the rear of my Z but it is totally stock up front. I am thinking 15x8 zero offset in the front with a 205/55/15 and a 15x9 positive 10 offset in the rear with 225/50/15 would work for my car but I am too cheap to try it out!
  20. Not sure if Rota is only going by market demand, but 17" wheels are too big on an s30 imho. These may come in 16", you never know with Rota.
  21. I am trying to like these wheels due to their fitment, but the more I look at the new XXR 527's the more they remind me of fish scales (silver ones in particular). I can see myself tiring of this wheel after a few months on my car, the spokes are too thin and they have no lip, this is just my opinion as everyone has their own taste.
  22. Turbeau what are you waiting for? Buy a set so we can see pics! By the way, I am willing to bet that a 15x9 +10 offset in the rear with a 225/50/15 and a 15x8 +4 in the front with a 205/55/15 tire would fit nicely on a stock s30 and at the same time give a nice staggered look.
  23. Another 8 spoke copy, how original (add sarcasm here).
  24. Okay, thanks for the reply, I am thinking they are at least -25 offset but this is just a guess. If you ever have one of the wheels off the car it is easy to check with the many wheel calculators online.
