  1. Un fair lady z are these zero offset wheels, if not would you know? Thanks
  2. Interesting, I may even be able to slip some 15x9's with some 225/50/15's on the back of my Zed since it is slightly flared. I would like to see these with solid silver centers, they would look very similar to the iconic Dematosa Mangusta wheels produced by Campagnolo.
  3. I find it difficult to believe you have seen the 'real' ones here in North America because of their cost. Did you mean in Japan? I can see more Z's having them there because the wheel is made there.
  4. Hey Dailydrifter, the wheels look much better in 16 inch, your car has a nice stance, do you know what the height is in the front and rear from the ground to the center of each fender. Thanks!
  5. If anything I would try to go bigger than a 225, you are going to get major stretching, the smaller the width you go. Some like that look, I personally hate it, I think it looks bad and it can be dangerous. The 225 would be minimum I would go, I know Toyo makes a 235/50/15 but it is a fairly expensive tire.
  6. Not sure why people are liking these wheels, I find them repulsive. They would look like crap on an S30 based on fitment alone. I actually saw 17's on an s30 for the first time the other day, they look too big on an S30.
  7. I actually ran the same wheel and tires with a +10 offset and it still did not hit my stock suspension, that is 7mm closer than the +3 offset wheel. The tires I used are also very wide BF Goodrich TA's about 250mm. He may get different results with his car but I am just passing along observations and 'real world' results I have noticed with my 280z. Note to the original poster, the above only worked on the rear of my Z, for the front you may want to wait for the 15x8 Shakotan which I have been reading should be released soon. It would be interesting to see these wheels staggered on an S30.
  8. Are you sure that a 4.5 inch backspace is maximum on a stock suspension? I ran 245/60/14's on 14x7 +3 wheels with a stock suspension, according to the wheel calculator you mention, I can run a 235/50/15 on a 15x9 inch zero offset wheel and still not hit my stock suspension.
  9. Thanks John, only 5 full turns, wow I thought you needed at least 9 turns. I should be okay then, if I remember right I am getting close to 7 turns. Need to check again. My whole issue stems from inheriting a Z whose wheels came with +3 offset on 3 wheels and +10 on the fourth wheel. My thinking in using a 5mm spacer is to turn the +10 offset wheel into a +5 so it is more even with the others.
  10. Anyone using a slip-on spacer(s) on their stock 280z and not having any issues? If so, what size are you using? Would 5mm be the thickest I could go on stock wheel studs without having to change to longer ones? Thanks
  11. A 205/50/16 will not look too stretched on an 8" wheel, it also depends on the tire manufacture, some 205's are wider than others. A good compromise would be to find a manufacture that makes a fairly wider 205 so that the stretched look is minimized. Good luck and let us know which tire you use.
  12. In an attempt to lower the rear of my 280 I changed the rear upper strut rubber mounts to front 240z mounts which did lower the car close to an inch. However, I still need it lowered in the rear by another inch or so. I currently have stock springs in the back and was wondering if changing the coil springs to lowering springs such as the ones sold by Motor Sports (Eibach) would still lower my car another inch even though I am using the 240z upper mounts? By the way if anyone has rear lowering springs they do not need I am buying, thanks.
  13. Looking for some rear lowering springs for my 76 280z, would like a 1.5 inch drop if possible. ATS Classic wheels, send me pm with what size you have. Thanks
  14. I am looking for some hub centric wheel adapters spacers for my 280, does anyone know a good place online who does not over inflate their shipping rates like those found on E-bay.
  15. I think you should be fine with a 15x8, 50 series tire will leave more room for movement when cornering. By the way, those look like the 15x8 (-9 offset) Performance Challenger wheels on that red Zed, does anyone know where you can purchase these or know anyone who might be selling?
  16. Thank you for your reply. However, I am not seeking advice about the group buy. I was hoping to get more specific questions answered regarding my own vehicle.
  17. Hi everyone, I was thinking about getting another set of wheels for my 280 (red in color, no ZG flares I prefer the car without them) and was looking at the Rota RB-R. I am hoping to get some good advice on choosing a proper color and fitment for my car. Keep in mind it has some flaring at the back. Which color wheel would best suit a red zed: Royal Silver, Royal Hyper Black and/or Royal Gun Metal? (personally I am leaning more towards the Royal Hyper Black). In terms of fitment, I would like a wider rim in the back. I was thinking of the following combination: Rota Rb-r 17x8.5 +4 (for the front) and Rota Rb-r 17x9 -13 (for the rear). Tire combination 'could' be 235/45/17 up front and 245/45/17 in the back. My biggest concern is that the 8.5 and 9 inch combination would not look correct? However, if they are both Rb-r's wouldn't they in fact look correct? Finally, would anyone know if Kim Bong (kimcosmic@juno.com) is able to get me this set-up or would I be wasting my time asking him? Many thanks to all those who reply!
  18. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had any success working on their rear suspension on a 280z without having to remove the spindle pins (we all know what a pain this to do). In other words is it possible to remove the three strut bolts ,emergency brake cable and compress the springs while they are still on the car and lower the strut assembly enough to work on it. What I am trying to do is lower my rear which is currently sitting higher than the front. I may just change the upper insulator mount to a set from a 240z and hope I get about a one inch drop for my efforts. Any help, suggestions and/or direction would be much appreciated.
  19. Thank you everyone for all the help with this, from this angle it seems like the front 17x9's -13 would clear the rear stock fenders, put it could be deceiving.
  20. Although it looks "bulgy" I have a 245 on a 7 inch rim! Will change in the future, so yes 225 will fit easily on a 7 inch rim.
  21. Project BBZ, did you use 245/50/16's all around or only in the rear? Difficult to tell from the picture but it looks like you did. Thanks
  22. How did they get a 195 to fit on a 9.5 inch rim? Talk abot stretching! LOL
  23. I have seen 205/60/14 and 215/60/14, both looked good the latter looked more beefy, 225/60/14 is most likely to wide for a 6 inch.
  24. They have the Ventura for $125 each in 15's which is in your price range, that is why I mentioned Centerline's. Okay I just checked it is actually $159 / wheel, still cheap for a wheel you can customize.
