Well, BilClinton got caught in public with another hoe again
Georgia Flash replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
If I had to come home to that face every day I would go after Monika too! Hilery -
Hey guys, well tomorrow I will be scavenging through some of the local salvage yards to try and find the 240 SX calipers to go with my new rear brake upgrade from Modern Motorsports and Ross C. I have the backing plates cut off and have the new caliper mounting brackets bolted up and the 300ZX disks in place. Of course I painted the stub axels and I have to say that it looks sweet! Pics to follow. What do I need to look for while I'm there getting the calipers? I will check this when I get up in the morning. I want to make one trip to the yard so I can spend the rest of the day working on my brakes.

Guys lets not forget about the Motorsports Auto mount system. I like them much better than the homemade JTR mounts that I purchased from a member here. Just remember there is more than one mount system out there when doing the chosing.

Yeah I just sorta finished up installing the hyper bushing kit on my 280. The steering rack bushings did not fit! Even after I hack sawed one almost in half I still couldn't get it wedged in the groove. I have my old worn out rubber ones in there right now. You are corect the kit does not come with the front sway bar bushings. Everything else was pretty easy but take notice now before you get the kit and ask. The bushings for the steering arm to crossmember will have to be pressed out unless you can get them out yourself. Only cost me $8 dollars to get the metal shell pressed out. The new bushings will not fit unless you do this.

Passed the exam!! Now I have to worry about the assessment center on the 27th. -
Yes Bullit with Steve Mcqueen was the perhaps the best damn car chase ever put on film. I mean the awesome sounds of the badass Fastback Stang and the sleek black stock looking Dodge Charger jumping the hills of San Francisco, Sweeet chase scene!

Hehe here I am at a the City Jail booking in a subject and sneaking on the departmental computer. I have to say that I am very pleased with the parts that are sitting at the house waiting for me. I have been extremely busy at work with training a new officer and studying for the Corporal exam that is to be given tomorrow. I hope I pass but I am very nervous about it. Anyway I will try and start working on the Z again when I get time to take a breath. -

That's cool Ross, Yeah I was gonna email or call once I got up and about but this morning as in evey morning when I get in from work, I was dog tired. I will be looking for the extra package and oh by the way fellas, those brackets are really well made and are a beautiful work of art! Should I paint them or clear coat them to protect the finish or will they be ok without some sort of paint? Thanks again Ross, if I have any major questions about the instal when I start I will be giving you some mail -

Uh Oh I think I may have celebrated to soon. I opened the box and found the two Brembo disks and the custom mounting brackets and bolts but I did not see the kevlar pads or the stainless hoses. Did I order these parts with my kit? I thought that I had. Let me know Ross I am going to bed and will check back when I get up around 1:00pm eastern time. -
I got a package last night while I was away at work!! Got home this morning to find a large box sitting on the kitchen table. Yeppers my rear brake conversion kit from Ross C. and Modern Motor Sports has arrived! Ross I haven't unpacked the kit yet but I have opened the box and took a peek inside. I guess I should go up and take a look at all the goodies before I go to bed this morning. It will be a few days before I can start to work on dismantling the old rear drums. I have a lot going on right now at my job that will keep me busy for a couple of more weeks. But then hopefully I will hit it hard and heavy!

MSA Motor mount and crossmember Pics!
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Dan I have already taken it back apart and the crossmember is bolted back onto the car. I have a feeling that it doesn't sit quite as low as the JTR set up but still it isn't too high either. As far as the set back I believe it will be just as good as the JTR system. -
ZX rear calipers: just say no
Georgia Flash replied to jeromio's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I have had Two Zx's and never a rear brake leakage problem. In fact I never had a single problem with the rear or front brakes period. As far as sitting goes, my old 71 Ford F-100, that I don't have anymore , sat for about 3 years and my current Z for about 5 years and no leakage on those vehicles either. Go figure, like someone else said there may be a problem with the rear calipers that you have. -
MSA Motor mount and crossmember Pics!
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
John, I do not know about those measurements as of yet because I haven't placed the engine in the car. I was was curious to see how far the engine would sit back in reference to the crossmember. As you can see from my pics, it looks like it will be almost entirely behind the crossmember similer to the JTR position. Now I do not think that it will sit as low as the JTR position but that is quite all right with me I did a lot of thinking on the two mount systems, MSA and JTR, and chose the MSA system for ease of install. By the way MSA stands for Motorsports Auto http://www.zcarparts.com. Get your hands on one of their free catelogs! They are packed with stuff for your Z car and they also have an entire page dedicated to the V-8 swap! -
MSA Motor mount and crossmember Pics!
Georgia Flash posted a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Here ya go guys, I figured that while I have my front crossmember out for a little POR 15 that I would hook up the MSA mounts to see how it will all go together. Tell me if the links do not work. The mounts work great and as you can see the engine will be set back when in the car. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid62/p160d3bb79e800a955c2c24d1d68e3fee/fc216ac6.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid62/p83b9ad372d50a3067b05ac5c63549994/fc216ac1.jpg -

I purchased the Carter Competition Series Silver pump from Jegs and it does not need a regulator. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3210&prmenbr=361 I used the original Datsun mounting bracket and housing slightly modified. It fit pretty good after a little trial and error. I couldn't get the little bracket that comes with the pump to work anywhere for me so I did not use it.

Front Control Arm Bushings Help!!
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I used a local engine shop and they pressed them out for me for only $8 bucks! Cheaper than the hack saw I purchased earlier in the day and a lot easier on me too. If I had to start all over again I would forget about the burning rubber and hack saw method and go straight for the shop. -
energy suspensions poly bushings dont fit!!!
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Update! I got my control arms back yesterday and it only cost me $8.00 total to have them both pressed out. That is a lot less that the hack saw that I purchased earlier in the day to try and cut them out. I would suggest this route to anyone who ask me how to get the suckers out. It will save you both time and money. -
I have to say one more thing here before I decide to quit on this one. Cops are not robots and most of them could give a rats ass about what the mayor and city hall wants so the argument that the (City) cops are cracking down and not the CHP is pretty lame. I happen to work for a municipality and have been doing so for about 12 years. I have seen a lot of cops come and go. It is extremely important for the public to understand that cops are people too. They each bring their own prejudices to the job with them. We have cops that would stop you and give you a ticket for forgetting to turn on your headlights as you leave McDonalds in your MINI VAN on a Monday night. On the flip side to that, we also have em that you could buzz by at 100 mph and they would just ignore you. The notion that all cops stick together is long gone. It is my opinion that the "brotherhood" that once existed between officers is now non existant. There is a lot of throat cutting amongst officers now. Just wanted to dispell the big "City cop" conspiracy theory. And by the way I don't know about your state but here in GA the state troopers are always the hard asses not the local police. Just ask the brothers that have tried to make the trip down I-75 into Atlanta for Freak nic and they will tell you about the GA State Patrol lined up to catch them and only them. I have said it on here before and so I will say it once more. Go to your local Police Department and ask them to let you do a ride along. Do it on a Friday or Saturday night and I will be willing to bet that your whole perspective on what we do will change.

Official Code of Georgia 40-6-393 Homicide By Vehicle (a) any person who, without malice aforethought, causes the death of another person through the violation of subsection (a) of code section 40-6-163 (overtaking and passing of school bus) or subsection ( of code section 40-6-270 (Leaving the scene of accident with injuries or death) or Code section 40-6-390 (Reckless Driving) or 40-6-391 (D.U.I.) or subsection (a) of Code section 40-6-395 (Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police) commits the offense of homicide by vehicle in the first degree and, upon conviction threrof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than three years nor no more than 15 years. The sentence is longer if you have been declared a habitual violator and cause the death of another while involved in an accident under the above rules. Under GA law the two racers would probably be charged under the above code section or under Code section 16-5-3 Involuntary Manslaughter which states: A person commits the offense of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of an unlawful act when he causes the death of another human being without any intention to do so by the commission of an unlawful act other than a felony. You gotta figure that there will be two charges brought against these knuckle heads for the two people that lost their lives. Street Racing is just stupid! It's funny, whenever a cop has to chase someone and a person looses a life, everyones jumps in the cops ass for chasing. But when something like this happens there are actually idiots who try and place blame on the victims in the Saturn, Sad.

The instructions say something along the lines of "the more humid the area the faster it will dry" something like that.

Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yeah I got the two little containers of that sticky stuff (grease) with the kit but they did not send a lot of it. I also gave up on cutting mine out. After sawing through the shell and into the arm itself on one of the sides the sucker still wouldn't budge. I made two cuts. I took it to an engine shop and he said that he could do both the arms for less than $9.00 total. That will save me one helluva headache! I will pick them up tomorrow on my way to work.
