Has anybody ever seen something like this?
Georgia Flash replied to Mike kZ's topic in Non Tech Board
I once had a large piece of gravel get stuck between the treads on one of my front tires. I heard thump thump thump thump and stopped to see it wedge between the tread. Pulled it out and presto! All the air in the tire came out with it! -
Even if the pin is frozen you can still change the strut, right? So I say do not worry about trying to get that sucker out. I beat and banged on mine a little without it even budging so I decided to leave them alone for now. Haven't tackled the struts or springs yet but shortly in the near future I will because I would like to have stiffer springs on the Z.

"Really officer I wasn't following too closely!"

Yeah it was a fuel injected Z that is before I took out the six It will be a carbed 350 Z when it is running again. What can I use to "plug up" the lines that I do not need anymore? And, how do I know which ones to keep and which ones to do away with? I know I will need the original fuel line that goes out to the pump (electric) from the tank. I can use all the old rubber vent hoses if I have too except for the big braided one that went from the back side of the fuel tank to the little vent tank, it is not usable anymore. Which ones do I need to keep? Anybody, anybody,...Bueller, Bueller...

Yep I checked VB too. I haven't checked with Nissan yet but I imagine they will cost an arm and a leg if they can get them. I may take my old hoses to Auto Zone or Advance and see if I can match up anything close to what I have.

I am in the midst of changing out all the old crumbly rubber hoses that go to my fuel tank and vent tank. The problem is I have a 75 Z and MSA only sells replacement hoses for 1970-74 tanks. Anyone know where to get more of these?

Ok here I sit all alone with it raining outside at 1:10am! That second one will keep me up for a little while longer till I forget about it so I can go to sleep. Jeesh I need a beer and some clean shorts

I saw the show with "The Run" featuring the 350z. It was nice to see the 350Z ripping through the city streets. I missed the other thing with Corolla though.

What it feels like to drive
Georgia Flash replied to majik16106's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I had the misfortune of driving my first V-8 Z a couple of weeks ago. I say misfortune because it was a real let down. I went to look at a car that was on ebay and was advertised as having a 327 in it. When I got there I realized that the Z had a 307 between the fenders. I drove the car hoping to get that "head pushed back through the seat feeling" that my vette used to give me. It sadly wasn't to be though This car sucked to put it in layman's terms! A stock Z with the in liner still between the sheet metal would have been more fun to drive. Everything from the rough slow running engine to the non existant brakes to the shimmy in the steering wheel that almost jared you to death when trying to stop just was a terrible let down. I guess where I'm heading with this is not all V-8 Z cars are created equal. I came back from that trip re energized to get my project up and running again. Do the conversion right and I personally think the Z will literally fly when heading down the highway. On the other hand, do it wrong and well you get what I had the displeasure of driving. -
What a jerk! I say send the bum to Iraq and place him as a human shield!!

Ryan I have been wondering the same thing. My 75 has the same type of tranny mount as does yours. I think that I read on this site once that you can leave the support area and everything will fit just fine. By the way I like how you illustrated this question! It makes it crystal clear as to what you are talking about. How did you cut off the mounts? I have tried an air chisel on mine and ruined it. It actually beat the poor chisel to death. And yes the mounts are still there...laughing at me

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I may order it today. Edit: Just ordered the Carter silver pump from Jegs web site Now I need to get my lazy a$$ outside and get to work on its new home.
-
Can I buy this pump at my local parts store or do I have to order from Jegs?
-
Yeah he does have lots of issues. Some of the things that show does is just plain stupid anyway. I tried to watch it a couple of times but some how a bunch of thugs making dumb things just doesn't appeal to me. He should stick to making motor cycles and leave the freak show alone. Just my oppinion, I'm sure a lot of folks grab a bag of pop corn and settle in for a night of American Idol, Joe Millionare and puke, Monster Garage What ever happened to good TV?

Hello, I am almost done with the rear end R&R and while I'm back there I want to go ahead and get my fuel pump bought and mounted so I can go ahead and put my fuel tank back on the car. What fuel pump do you guys reccomend I buy? I will be running a Chevy 350, mostly stock, with the original fuel lines on my 75. I will not be racing the car on a track or strip. It will be driven on the street. I will probably go with an Edelbrock 1407 Carb not sure yet though. Let me know what to spend the benjammins on guys. Going to bed now.

Thanks guys, I spent most of the day laying under the rear of my Z scraping and cleaning still preparing it for when I can put it all back together back there. I used four jack stands on the rear of the car while I was under there. I gave it the old shake test too, funny thing though, I have always done that. I guess out of instincts or something. I should get the last parts that I need for the rear end from UPS tomorrow if their web tracking is correct, however, I will have to go back into work and it will be about four days before I try to lift the suspension back up to its place and bolt it in. Then I may move to the front suspension. Sparky I have seen a lot over the years and it's kinda funny how after a while you sorta get used to it if you know what I mean. I guess what I am trying to say is you learn to cope with it. However, some things make you just stop and think for a moment. Pete you are right, this kid probably would'nt have made it even if someone was right there with him when it fell. I think that I will start throwing the wheels under the car when I'm under there.

Yawn.....Just woke up from my morning sleep. Fixing to head off to the local parts store to pick up a few items before I go to work on the Z. I was thinking that I may get some more sturdy jack stands while I'm there. I have the small ones from Walmart. I have never liked crawling under a car even when it was supported by jack stands or on a set of ramps. When I took some classes at my local vo-tech school, I wasn't too keen on standing under a car even when it was supported on a hydralic lift. Yep I'm quite sure that he had done this sort of thing 100's of times, especially at the race track when a last second repair had to be made. Man I have seen lots of horrible stuff in my career, but this kinda hits me where I live, if you know what I mean. I guess what makes it worse is the fact that he had to go so young with a promising career ahead of him.

Good morning folks, Well last night at about 12:30am, I had the misfortune of answering a call where a car had fallin on someone while he was working on it. I ran lights and siren to the call because I prayed and hoped that I may be able to get the car off of him when I got there. The dispatcher didn't say whether or not the guy was still alive so I hoped for the best. My response time was about one minute at the most. I was the first to arrive on the scene, even before EMS. I ran to the garage in the back yard of the house and was met by the guy's grandmother coming out of the garage. She said, "he's in here!" I ran to her and asked, "is he ok?". The elderly lady said in a quivering voice, "I think he's dead..." I entered the garage and saw a terrible sight. A young man in his teens was laying under the passenger side of a Chevrolet race truck with the frame rail across his neck and chest area. He was dead and had been for some time. He had came to work on his truck around 6:30pm and had plans to change the bell housing and front brake disks. He had removed the passenger side front tire and jacked up the car with a floor jack. He did not use any of the four heavy duty jack stands that were sitting in the garage behind the race truck. Apparently he crawled under the truck beside the floor jack and somehow the jack slipped pinning him under the truck. Guys as the night wore on I thought of my plans that I had for my off day today. I am still working on the rear suspension of my Z and it is sitting on jack stands. I will feel a little squemish when I crawl under there today. The sad part of this story is this guy was a kid. He was just 18 years old! According to his family he started racing last year and won Rookie of the Year. I feel bad for his family that they had to lose their son, grandson, and brother at such a young age. God Bless Them. Guys lets be careful out there.

Support our Troops, but more importantly Support our President and the Cause! We should let these actors and peace protestors go to Iraq to live. I served a little over four years in the Army from 86-91 ((called back to duty after I got out, for Desert Storm)) I am proud of our military and our will to fight. This country that we live in has a lot of spoiled brats running around talking about our president. Why aren't they talking about Saddam and how terrible he has treated his people over the years? You guys heard about the "rape chamber"? Supposedly Sadaam will use this when he wants information from someone. He will subject a man's wife to brutal rapes and if the man still refuses to give information his children will be forced to have sex with Sadaam's goons until the man finally talks! Yes we live in a very bad place I guess. -
Thanks Tim, I was beginning to start pulling my hair out over here! I tried everything to get those suckers to work. I could see them but no one else could apparently. Thanks again
