  1. The fit was ok but not as good as the factory steel hood it replaced. It is very light however which makes it great to handle especially if you are a small man like myself. The hood will look great once the car is painted. I just found my receipts the hood cost $459.00 then I had to pay the truck driver $74.00 upon delivery. It is not cheap!!!
  2. J.C. Whitney does list them in the catalog that is where I found mine. You can see the pic below
  3. Call Courtesy Nissan you may be surprised. I live in GA and I NEVER use my local Nissan dealer for parts or anything. I call Courtesy instead.
  4. That is good advice if you know what you are doing with all those micrometers and such. But some of us would not know what to do once on the inside of a block and so therefore WE must place our trust in the so called professionals out there good or bad. What is nice though is we have a site like this that folks can use to report bad shops and so forth so somebody else doesn't get ripped.
  5. I have to laugh at the thought of actually buying an engine from motorsports. I will never buy anything from those guys again after they lied to me for months while I was waiting for my Panasports to arrive at my door. It's a lonnng story so I will not bother you guys with it. I would think that you would be waiting on an MSA engine to arrive at your door step when you turn 80. No joke when they have to ship you something on back order or something as big and heavy as an engine the wait must be very long. Trust me on this one.
  6. Thanks for the input guys, fl327 I do not have the ZX tranny as of yet but I may be heading in that direction soon. BTW there isn't really anything wrong with the 4-speed that is in the car now it just seems like the engine revs a little high in fourth like it wants a fifth gear to go to but can't. Is there a certain model of ZX that I should look for or do all of them have pretty much the same 5-speed tranny?
  7. Yeah I kinda thought that those folks were full of BS when they insisted it wouldn't work. Thanks.
  8. Has anyone changed the oil pan gasket on their in-line 6 with the engine still mounted? It looks like it will clear fine without lifting the engine I just wondered if there was maybe something on the inside that would prohibit it from coming down.
  9. Good morning guys, I'm sure this topic has come up here a couple of times but I couldn't find anything using the search function so here goes. I have a 76 280 with the manual 4-speed and I was wondering if a 5-speed from a ZX woud be a direct exchange into the 76. I was told a while back when I first bought my 75 Z that the ZX tranny had different bolt holes so it would not bolt up in the Z. However, I think that was told to me by someone at a salvage yard and not a Z/ZX knowledgeable person so I figured that I would ask here.
  10. I have Yokohama 225/60/ZR16's Yep Motorsport probably lost my business for good on this one. Not only did they lie about when the wheels would be in, 7 times in all!!
  11. Ouch Parked for five years!!!! Run like hell from this car! I have to agree with Davy Z, I too tried the "buy a cheap non running Z and replace everything approach" and it did not work out. Like I said earlier a 100 dollar car now sits in my yard after sitting in my garage for a number of years. It was always in the way, parts strew everywhere even in my spare bedroom! It is now what it should have been all along, a parts vehicle for my nice RUNNING 76 280. Find you a good Z to start with, you will not be disappointed.
  12. I would be glad to except I, as in most of us on this board, have my 350 on an engine stand I still dream of having the thing all together and running but that dream is fading fast.
  13. Well I was the high bidder on this until...until maybe someone on here posted the link! That's ok I was sorta starting to dread spending five bucks on it anyway
  14. Man that Mad Max Falcon is sharp! Makes you wonder why that car wasn't offered to the American public back then. It would have been a hit here in the states.
  15. Judging by your posts only being "35" it seems to me that you do not know about Racer X. He is an automotive paint wizard! No, check that I would say a god! Listen to him for he knows what he is talking about when it comes to painting an automobile You will probably have to use a primer called DP90 Epoxy primer which uses a catalyst for the reducer to give the low gloss black primer finish you desire with corrosion protection. Racer X help me out here, am I steering him in the right direction?
  16. Bought a Z about 4 years ago looking just like that one for a $100 bucks! The car still doesn't run so it is sitting outside of my garage and I have bought another Z for $2,500 bucks that is running and came with a boat load of parts. The hundred dollar Z now gets used as a parts car, something it should have been all along. You need to check the spare tire well because if that window has been missing for sometime you will find tons of rust under the spare, trust me I learned the hard way
  17. The MSA kit is not considered to be a "SCARAB" type kit. I have the kit and like the way it mounts better than the JTR kit.
  18. RPMS love the documentaion that you have put up on your Z related site
  19. I would be careful with this set up. I have never tried one of these on the Z or ZX, however, I bought a used 1987 Corvette a couple of years ago and the guy who had it before me had the factory air filter box cut open and a K&N filter installed. water would enter this thing even when you washed the vette! Now for anyone familier with the 87 vette the filter box is behind the slopping nose of the car. Still water would enter and collect in the filter box. Not saying the same would happen on the Z or ZX but be careful and mindfull that such a thing may be possible. Especially since the Z has an open nose as opposed to the Vette's closed nose.
  20. Man I ordered the suckers in June and it took MSA this long to get them to me I have to say that they are awesome though, 16x7, they look a lot better on the Z than I thought they would. I will have to get some pics up of the wheels on the car.
  21. Sold my donor Camaro for $300 bucks and the guy came down from NC and towed it home. The didn't have an engine and there wasn't a spot on it that wasn't rusted or dented. Yes I love ebay.
