Has anyone here looked into putting Maxima seats in their Z. My wife has just purchased a 99 Maxima with black power seats. Man they are nice on the bee-hind! I haven't looked at the mounting yet to see if it would be close to the Z's. I'm afraid that the wifey would think that I was about to appropriate her seats and hit me over the head with something lol

Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
LOL yep the wife doesn't know about the fiber glass hood that is slowly making its way to me Hmmmmmmm Mexico, that sounds nice and I'll bet ya that it will be warm enough there in February to do some project work. -
I have the new edition of Hot Rod mag. and it has an awesome 2005 proto type Ford Mustang Fastback on the cover! Anyone else seen this awesome ride?

Sounds pretty good to me also but I would have to wait a while before my car could be posted in a show case type setting like that.

JTR Datsun Z V-8 Mounting Kit Question
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Ouch!!! R-200 on my bird chest would crush me If you are like me and have no fabrication skills what so ever then I would say go with the over priced MSA item. Yup it is sad that things that cost so little to produce (probably I have no idea) should cost us so much. Hey 72 ZCar, I have a 75 280, does the MSA kit place the engine back as far as the JTR mount system? And can you use a full size air cleaner and still run a strut bar? -
Well I took down the rear suspension in the little Z for some r&r and figured that that "while I was at it" what the hell lets go nuts! I have a full master bushing set from Hyper-Flex just waiting to be installed sitting on my kitchen table. I have ordered a new rear differential cover for the R-200. But you know I just cant order the cover. Ohhhhhh no I have to order brand new cover bolts, filler plug, drain plug and gasket! You know while I'm at it. But before all that can be put together, I have to sand and paint all the suspension parts and diff....while I'm at it. I have even considered going ahead and charging up a pair of those cool Nissan rear disk brake conversion kits on my master card. You know because while I'm at it! Credit cards are great huh, until the freaking bill arrives And lets not even talk about the coil overs that would be killer on the Z. So I figure I will be done with the project sometime in the next 10 years or so. While I'm at it I may as well start on the front suspension too! Yeah that's the ticket

I called Edelbrock yesterday and the guy said the Q-jet would work with my manifold but I would have to get an adapter because the carb would not simply bolt up to that particular manifold. He reccomended that I use a Performer 7102 cam with the set and a stall converter of at least 2200. I have decided to put the carb on ebay and I will take the money and get the carb and cam suggested for the manifold that I have. It is already over one hundred dollars and has 8 days to go.

Yup I think that the hood looks great. I guess that I will have stock 75 hood to try and get rid of.

Long Shot: Anyone Making/Selling New 240Z Dashes?
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Didn't say the cap fooled me now did I by the way my wife loves the Z even though it doesn't even run. Anyway. You are right though, this shouldn't be a debate. Just do what you feel is right for you and your particular situation. I was only trying to help a brother out because once upon a time I too considered buying the new dash. Only to reconsider after seeing the cap at a GA Z Club show. Bottem line is this, you are the one that has to be happy here on this decision not me so I would check with MSA or even your local Nissan dealership for a new dash. Try Courtesy Nissan in Texas they always seem to have a lot of Z stuff. -
Thanks Ryan, I was worried that the hood might be one of those big honking things that had too much of a hump if you know what I mean. The hood looks great! I can't wait for it to arrive. Jwink the hood runs $459.95 + shipping charges in the jcwhitney catelog. I ordered mine online.

Long Shot: Anyone Making/Selling New 240Z Dashes?
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
LOL ok then, spend to your hearts content. Again it will fool most people if done properly. I know because I have seen people not know the difference. But hey that's why we live in America you have the freedom of choice and if ya got the cash I say go for it. Me on the other hand will use that cash for something else a little more important. Besides the wife's birthday is in a couple of days and the anniversary is next month lol -
You have mail.

Long Shot: Anyone Making/Selling New 240Z Dashes?

Dash cap is the way to go in my opinion. Spend that $700+ on suspension or engine upgrades. Besides the full dash cap will fool most folks if put on properly. -
Joe, The numbers up front on the passenger side of the block near the alternator are the engine assembly date and suffix code. I went to this site: http://www.mortec.com/locatpg2.htm and came up with the following: K= Engine Factory location (McKinnon Factory Canada) 08= Month (August) 24= Day of month (Aug. 24) FJC= Suffix Code I could not find what the suffix code on your car was but that info is out there somewhere because I was able to figure out what mine was a few months ago. You will need to get at the casting #'s to see if your block is a 305 or 350. Hope this info helps ya out.

Cool Georgia Z. I may just have to do that very thing. Let me know if it works, would save me a little cash if it did. I have started working on my suspension right now and have a plan written out to finish my project. It looks good on paper, now lets see if I can stick to it without going a stray, lol.

Does anyone know why the MSA driveshaft for the V-8 conversion will not fit the 75 Datsun diff flange?
-
I just ordered the fibre glass cowl induction hood from JC Witney's online catelog. Does anyone have any pics of this particular hood on a Z? It is supposed to bolt up to the original hood hinge.

Taking out rear suspension
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks guys, I will get back at it tomorrow on my day off. I need to fire up my little ole sand blaster and start blasting away all the rusty areas so I can lay a nice rattle can finish back on the diff and suspension parts. Mike if I get out there tomorrow and start to cuss and throw things I will be sure to give you a holler *** Did anyone have any ideas about the stubborn frozen filler plug on the back of the diff? Remember I have tried almost everything short of dynomite to try and get that damned bolt out and it just sits here and laughs at me. -

Larry, When I first read your post yesterday I was already running late for work, but I had to set down and respond. I am now back home and it is 7:14am here in GA. I, like many others who have responded, am pissed at this turn of events that has happened to you. Here's one thing that boils my blood, I can go out and catch a real criminal and the sucker never sees prison time. Over the years I have locked up 100's of drug dealers, wife abusers, and felons. They deserved what they got and then some! People in your situation do not! It amazes me that they were going to give you 145 years! For what!!!! My god what a country we live in. Sad Like I said before, I will miss you and take care of yourself Larry. Charlie B. -

There is no "other side" for the little threaded bolt to be tapped out of if that is what you were talking about tapping out. -

My god! Larry I do not know exactly what to say because I suck at these kinds of moments. You have made many friends on this site and I for one will miss you. Everytime I post a question about anything you respond, usually first. I will try and get my Z running now for sure using the jtr mounts that you fabbed for me. I will also write to you. Again you will be missed by your friends here at Hybrid. You will come back though and we will welcome you with open arms. Take care of yourself. Sincerely, Charlie B. -
Taking out rear suspension
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yes Rick that is the same thing I was looking at while I attempted to just pull mine out like the diagram shows. I was wondering, that little nut on the bottom of the spendle housing I think they refer to it as the lock bolt. Well the nut just came off without a problem. Does the threaded bolt come out too? I was wondering if this is sticking into the slot in the pivot pin. Kinda makes sence to me that it probably is. -
Hi GA Z, I looked all through my Haynes Manual and couldn't find what the amps were either. However, Motorsports Auto has them in their catelog for $5.44 for the black and $5.19 for the green one. They also have the cover there if yours is all screwed up like mine was. Call them and get a catelog if you haven't already. 1-800-633-6331

Taking out rear suspension
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yes count me in too. And while you are at it hows about whipping up somthing that will make the filler plug on the differential budge! I tried an impact gun, a monkey wrench, adjustable wrench, open and boxed end wrenches with no success As for the spindle removal I was kinda thinking that I was trying to remove the wrong thing because it looks like they have some type of rubber seal around them. I was afraid that I may break something for nothing. Is it just one long piece of metal? If so I will beat the he77 out of it the next time I go at it. Oh and um can I get new ones at the good ole auto zone when I trash these? As always thanks again Larry.
