Taking out rear suspension
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Anyone have a clue as to how in the #$!! you are supposed to be able to separate the rear strut assembly from the rear control arm? The book say just pull out the pivot bolt. Yeah right maybe you and king kong! It looks like it is pressed in somehow. I stopped before I killed something -
You know the thought of taking it to an auto parts store has crossed my mind The box has been opened and the shrink wrap has also been opened. The guy had an early to mid 80's model C-10 Blazer 4x4 that needed the carb and intake. His dad bought him the carb new at Christmas and he got the manifold second hand. He says that the guy only fired up his Chevelle once with the manifold on it. He then turned around and traded his Blazer in on one that was fuel injected. Go figure. Mike if you think that it would be fine to run I will just keep it. But I gotta tell ya when I found out how much the darn thing is worth I started seeing dollar signs, lol I very rarely if almost never come out on top in any deal I do when money is concerned.

Thanks Mike, I forgot to say what the numbers on top were, I went back and added them.

I took apart all of my rear suspension today and was wondering if somebody could tell just by looking at some pics that I took if I have an R-200 or R180? Go to this image station link and click through the pics that I have there. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290746627 The markings on the top of the differential are as follows: A 38311 N3100 B I know this should go into the suspension categorie but I knew more folks come in here so I figure I will get more responses. Man what a job this was all by my self with a cheapo little jack to let the diff down to the floor. Thanks in advance guys

Taking out rear suspension

Thanks guys for the quick response. Now back to work I go! -
Lunch Break, I have been working all morning taking down the rear suspension and have a long way to go yet. Question: Where can I get some urethane (prob mispelled) to replace my worn out old rubber bushings? Red would look cool I think. If anybody knows or has a very important safety tip before I go back and crawl under the car just holler at me, I will be eating my lunch for the next few min.

When I was a teenie we would have laughed these guys off the streets with their little fart blossums. I mean what the hell happened to our youth! Back in the day no one would ever dare to fix up a 4-door of anything and don't even try to pass off your 4cyl car as something cool or fast. The noise these fart cans put out is very annoying to hear....uh could it might just be that I am getting too old, lol?

As most have already said, it is totally up to you. I on the other hand will be getting the 700R4 when the time comes. I like the idea of a sports car having the stick and all too but as I have gotten older (37) I hate shifting gears. Auto all the way baby! Besides, the wife can't drive a stick Hey wait maybe a stick wouldn't be so bad after all, lol

Lets not forget about the poor little Pinto. That was one of my first cars while still in high school. I remember one night after the prom making out in the back seat. Boy was that a tight fit. LOl you know the tiny little back seat and all.

Ahhhhh yes Korean women I spent a year in Korea in 1986-87 in the Army at a place called Camp Pelham near the DMZ. I will always remember the Korean gals with a fondness in my heart.

Autometer gauges for my 280ZX SBC project...
Georgia Flash replied to 80LS1T's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Man oh man Vettetek, I envy guys like you who can do so much with a car. I would be terrified to try the things you guys did! That custom frame is soooooo sweet! I spent about an hour drooling over that frame and its fat tires on your site. When you guys are done it will be one of, if not the badest Hybrids on the block! -
So far I have purchased the front, side, and rear body pieces from MSA for my 75. Oh and of course the BRE rear spoiler. I would have gone back with the original bumpers if the 75 280's were not so damned big and ugly! In my opinion one item that was mentioned early on in this topic is definately old school, and that is the louvers!

I do not know about that company but do not under any circumstances get anything from autobodypartsonline, these guys are crooks. -
Guys guys guys, even if you fool the radar a good police officer can and will get you for speeding. Part of the radar tracking process involves a "visual estimation" of speed by the officer. So if you go out and spend an arm and a leg to fool the radar and just happen to cruise through my town at 75 to 100 miles per hour in a 55 zone, you can bet that you will still be caught. Even if the radar goes haywire! Then when the officer finds the illegal jamming device that you spent all of your marbles on, when he does the search incident to arrest (that's right if the speed is great enough you will be arrested) for reckless driving, then guess what. Look, I do not want to pee on anybody's parade and I know that ALL of US speed from time to time, but it just seems like some people go out of their way to go 100 miles an hour on the public streets and I just think that is insane, sorry. An 18 year old girl was killed last month in our city by a speeding driver. How did we know he was speeding? The cop up the road from the accident "clocked" him on RADAR at 83 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone just before the collision. Like Fast Frog said "not speeding is an ooption."

I am at the point of getting a new harness myself. I asked a question on here a while back about where and how to hook up the Chevy 350 to the original 75 Datsun wiring and was very surprised NOT to get a good straight answer from anyone on this board. That is about the time my project ground to a halt and I haven't touched it since. I have the 350 still sitting on the stand, no tranny or drive shaft and do not know what to do next because of the freaking wiring dilema! So this is why I also need to know what kit everyone reccomends or does anybody have to patience to come by my place or let me call them so they can tell me how to correctly wire up the old Datsun wiring. I have a new email address, charlieb211@yahoo.com, feel free to contact me if you wish. Good luck on your projects guys

With all the crap that is going on in the world and we are sitting around bickering about a lousy bump! Cmon guys, people bump all the time in other forums it should be expected. Although I will second the motion to put it in the right place. Oh yeah, how ya doing Tee Zee? I have not posted in a while and my project is standing still at the moment.

Mine cost me about $700.00 from Motorsports Auto and took a life time to get it shipped to my house!

Who owns the V-8 Z in the Acworth, GA area?
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Non Tech Board
Man Scottie that is one sweeeeet Z!!! -
Hello everyone it has been a while since I posted here. I took a new job in Acworth, GA and saw a early V-8Z sitting at a traffic light rumbling. It was at New McEver Rd and Old hwy 41 and the paint looked to be some type of red or orange if I remember right. Does anyone from the Ga area know who this guy may be? I would love to get together with him to share some notes and ideas. Thanks, CB

Just got off the phone with the mastercard folks and they are sending me a dispute form. She said that it was good that I waited the month in between calls and that it takes more than "2 days" to get a credit. The main point of my message here is that I have had pretty crappy service with these jerks so I wanted to for warn any of you guys before buying from these fly by night thieves!

Yep I'm on the phone to my credit card company now

Hi all I am posting this in the Chevy V-8 section because I know that most of you will see it and hopefully benifit from it. Back in April I was interested in buying a new replacement fender for my Z. Someone on here reccomended that I use the on line site http://www.autobodypartsonline.com to buy my fender from, so I did. BIG MISTAKE! Not only did my fender never come in, I wound up cancelling the order after about a month of waiting. I ordered one from Victoria British and got it in 6 days. Now here is where it gets nasty. I received my credit card bill in June and saw that there was no credit on my card for the cancelled order. I called the company and was told that it would be credited the next day to my card. WRONG! I got my card bill today (July 15 for those keeping score) and still no credit for the fender. I called the company and asked to speak to a supervisor, and was put on hold for 15min! (long distance)I finally hung up and called again. This time I demanded to speak with a supervisor and that I did not want to be put on hold for 15min! So they put me on hold for about 10min and the same women came back on line. Her name is Imelda a sales rep. Imelda said that my card would be credited the next day, (sound familiar). She also went on to say that the supervisor was there but he was currently too busy to talk to me She said that I could call my credit card company and my lawyer if I wanted to! Guys I am so pi$$ed at this company right now that I would personally come and bitch slap anyone who orders from them on this site
