It took me all day to get signed in. My password wasn't working or something. Hey but I'm here now. I also prefer the silver background better. The black looks sharp but it just isn't as easy on your eyes after a while.

Motor mounts and grade 8 bolts
Georgia Flash replied to Sumo's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Yup the selection there isn't the greatest at our Home Depot either. I think that I will try Ace Hardware nex time I go a looking for some nuts and bolts. -
Good deal Len, I like to stumble up on good deals like that, it just hardly ever happens to me

So in your city a guy can walk into your fenced back yard and stand on your burnt deck and take all the pics he wants and then post them on a web site and make fun of you? Note to self...stay away from this city! I'm waiting on the redneck's pics, you know the ones of the nosey neighbor with no life standing on his back porch taking pics. What gets me is when the guy brags about going to the house with the police and threatening the loud party goers with police action. I can tell you this, I as with most cops do not like to be used as puppets. You call us for a problem and we, not you, try to handle it. It is the same thing when parents see a police officer and then tell their badly behaving child, "look there's a police man, I'm going to have him take you away!" WE HATE THAT! Sorry for ranting but I haven't had my afternoon Dr. Pepper yet. I know neighbors like this can be a problem. I am speaking about both neighbors not just the red neck.

James there is a guy who sells on ebay that sells complete bolt kits for parts of the Z. I lost a bidding war on a set of under hood stainless fender bolts a while back. The guy has a web site I will try to find it and post it in this thread. Here ya go: http://zcarcreations.sureshopping.com/

Motor mounts and grade 8 bolts
Georgia Flash replied to Sumo's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hey guys while we are on the subject of bolts. What size bolts did you all use with the JTR mounting system? Tomahawk Z made me a set of JTR set back plates and spacers and suggested 4 1/2" bolts on one side and 3 1/2" bolts on the other. Both are too long. What do you folks suggest? I was thinking maybe a 2 1/2 and a 3incher would work. -
Yes as I can remember the Chevy Caprice of that model was pretty damn quick. $500 or $600 should be a good deal on it just be careful and do not under any circumstances ever sit in the back seat lol. I have seen blood, vomit, urine, human crap, and all kinds of drug items in the back seats of cruisers. Sure they get washed down...but you never know. lol

Exactly! This thread has run on here before and I made the comment about how did this guy get all of these close up pics that he made without the redneck's permission? I mean some of the pics the guy took was from the redneck's deck or at least it appeared that way to me. He should mind his own business! But I agree some of the stuff the guy did is pretty bizarre!

I haven't driven a Caprice police car since about 1992. My old department and the one I work for now went to the Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I can't tell you much about what kind of engine is in the car you are looking at but I can tell you a couple of things about police cruisers. #1 Not all police cars are "police package" equiped. Sometimes departments will get regular Crown Vics in an effort to save money. This is usualy a bad idea because the cars do not last as long. #2 Police cruisers are driven sometimes for a couple of days without being shut down! For instance. You drive the car on day shift starting at 7:00am till 3:00pm, the second shift guy takes over from 3:00pm till 11:00pm, and then the third shifter gets in and takes it from there. I know some guys who have an extra key for their car and let it run the entire shift! Even while they are sitting in a restaurant eating! Be careful when buying a police car. If the car is a 1988 the odometer may have rolled over lol. We average 75 to 100 miles per shift on our cars and they get replaced every four years due to wear and tear. The car I drive right now is a 1999 Crown Vic with over 75,000 miles on the odometer.

Man that Camaro is so lame. And to think some guy actually thought that it was a good idea when he did it

The Home Depot in Rome GA has grade 8 bolts -
LOl guys you may want to look in the mirror. I remember when I bought the rusty ole Camaro and pulled the engine in the front drive beside my neighbors house. I then parked it under the tree with the hood laying across the roof. At that time my Z car, also engineless, was sitting in my garage with its engine under a tarp in the driveway. I remember my neighbor coming over with a concerned look on his face. I assured him that the hulk of a camaro was currently on ebay and that the engine was on its way to the junk yard. But you know he probably went back into his house shaking his head and mumbling "that crazy redneck"

I think that someone on zcar.com actually told me to come here after I posted some questions about V-8 Z cars. Or it could have been Pete's site. I can still remember the feeling that came over me when I saw that dark blue Z car with that awesome V-8 stuffed between the fenders! It was purely sexual baby

At the last police department I worked for we had a guy that knocked the baffles out of the exhaust on his brand new police bike! He did it with a long srewdriver. The sad thing is the department had to know about this and did nothing. There were several citizen complaints about the idiot with the loud pipes but nothing was ever done. He would do burn outs in the parking deck for christ sake! That's just one reason that I'm glad that I do not work there anymore.

what can i do f my z does not have a key ?
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Ignition and Electrical
LOL hey Tony do you know that what you did is a felony in GA? Yep if you had been caught you could have been charged with "entering an auto" which for some reason is considered a felony here. -
Yep I saw the truck. It would be cool if you could turn on the tube one saturday and see those guys dropping a V-8 into a Datsun! I would love to have a video of this process. Does anyone know of any around that I may purchase? Hey that would be a great market. Make videos of how to's on the V-8 Datsun.

I have had the same problem with my fill plug on my 75. I dropped the rear end and worked on it with an impact wrench and various other tools but the sucker would not budge. I have ordered a new cover and plugs from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. When it gets here then I can be a little more reckless with the thing and maybe just maybe get it off of there. Then I may sell the rear cover on ebay. When my new stuff arrives I will be putting a little anti seize on those suckers before they go in!

I don't have the manifold up for sale Mudge, I'm keeping that. The carb is A Performer Q-Jet (4-barrel). It has 4 days left on auction.

JTR Datsun Z V-8 Mounting Kit Question
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
72ZCar, I was in an auto parts store yesterday and took a look at the little triangle air box. It doesn't look too bad I guess. I also saw a 10" round air cleaner that I may run if a full size one will not fit. See what I mean about this question. You are the only one who has responded and still you aren't 100% sure about the full size cleaner with MSA mounting system lol. -
Guys remember the Edelbrock carburetor and manifolod that I bought for $170.00? The carb is now up to $380.00 on ebay! I think that I now have enough money to go and buy the correct carb plus the cam for the manifold, woooooohooooooo

Nah I think that I will pass on the light bar idea for now lol. The current department I work for is a small one about 28 road officers. I do not know that I would have been able to keep up with the Mustang but I would sure liked to have tried. Most often times when a chase starts the secondary officer in the chase isn't supposed to pass the initiating officer. Especially on dark curvey two lane country roads. However, had we been out on I-75 it would have been a whole different story The Police Interceptor would have walked that little V-6 Stang down and had it for lunch A side note, we chased a van the other night (Thursday) in the rain and he turned off his head lights and was passing cars on the wrong side of the road on a hill no less! We caught the guy a short time later after the on-duty supervisor called off the chase for being too dangerous. The guy still had his drugs on him when we chased him through the woods and tackled him. You would think that he would have at least lost the drugs before we caught up with him.

Yep it was a combo of curves and the will to drive the wheels off a car to escape the law, and of course like I said I was not the lead chase car You would be surprised at how well someone will drive to get away. Consider the fact he had nothing to loose and you have everything to loose and it makes sense. This kid is a meth dealer and already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest when the chase began. Not to mention his license are revoked and he knew the roads alot better than did we. The chase went into neighboring counties on his home turf. The interceptor is a fast car and I can personally say that in 12+ years of law enforcement that I have never lost a car that I started chasing. I have lost a couple when they foot bail but I aint the fastest white boy around

Yep I would never get away with swiping her seats without her killing me! I have a set of 75 Camaro seats that are huge and they fit snuggly into the little Z. However, I wanted to have an updated seat instead of the old Camaro seat that doesn't recline. If I'm not mistaken the Maxima's seats are a good bit smaller than the old Camaro seats. If I get a chance I will measure and see what gives. By the way the wife is sitting here watching this thread with a close eye
-
Engine aside, that is one sharp lookin Detroit made car. On a side note, we chased a V-6 powered Mustang the other night and the guy was hauling a$$! He lost the lead Police Interceptor and got away. I was the secondary car in the chase. We found the car a short time later but the driver had fled. That V-6 Mustang impressed me to say the least. By the way the road was a two lane with multple curves and hills and dips.

Ok since this thread is about strut bars lets try this question one more time. Does anyone out there currently running the MSA engine mount system know if it is possible to have the full size (round) air cleaner and still have the strut bar? Everytime I post this question it just dies. The reason I ask is in the MSA pic they show that cheesy little triangle air cleaner. I would like to have a set up like Pete,s but do not know if the MSA set up will allow for this. You know the traditional round air filter and strut bar. Please someone should know the answer to this question. It is a pretty straight forward question either you can or you can't.
