  1. I am installing an AEM progressive methanol/water injection system. I have no room under the hood for the tank (dont want to use the windshield washer tank location. . I would like to mount a small JAZZ fuel cell in the hatch area. Is there any issue with this placement as long as the intake side of the pump itself is mounted lower than the tank??
  2. Ill throw out one thing to check.. My misfire on my RB26 was cured checking the plug gap...could be many more things though
  3. My RB has been on the road only about one month since completed. I noticed that it would run quite hot when sitting in traffic. I was operating with one 12 inch pusher fan between the I/C and the rad (big aluminum rad) I have changed to dual fans with a shroud and this seems to have fixed the problem.
  4. Hey Jerry...Im trying my best to have my RB 240z ready for the show. The car is set to go on the dyno today and then I have to install the door glass and align a few panels. Hope to see you there. Andrew
  5. Thanks fellas...much appreciated. I dont think there is any damage but will be doing a compression check tonight.
  6. Thanks fellas...So if this is an interference motor my question is this. If the timing was set incorrectly would it be possible to damage valves etc during cranking of the motor. The motor has not run but has been cranked. It sounded like the timing was out however I did not hear any serious noise (metal on metal).
  7. Hi guys...forgive my ignorance but is the RB26 motor an "interference motor"?
  8. Thanks Grumpy. Great advice on buying good quality products when it comes to floor jacks and stands. I have attended two jack related fatalities as a police officer. One was a guy using a scissor jack at the front of his vehicle to check his front CV. He was found crushed to death under the car by his wife the day after Christmas. The jack was found to have fallen over sideways while he was under the vehicle. The second guy was using a cheap floor jack at the rear of his vehicle. This jack was found to be faulty and appears to have been a hydraulic problem; failing and crushing him under the vehicle. He was found by a neighbour. Both were preventable deaths. A good quality floor jack and ALWAYS using jack stands when going under the car is the only way to go.
  9. Try one of your automotive product stores and look for a polishing compound for plastic. The one that I have used I believe is called PlastiX or something similar. Mothers and Meguires sells this type of compound I believe. Hope that points you in the right direction.
  10. Hey Rick...I picked up the car from the paint shop a few days ago...they did a fantastic job. I am putting humpty back together again and then it is off to the tuner. Pics within the next week...that is a promise!! Sixteen months of work have gone into this project so far but thanks a bunch for doing all the nice CNC work and attention to detail on the swap...has been a fun project to revive. Talk to you soon.
  11. Try PM'ing Rick Wong. Not sure if he is still checking this board but he was using the signature SKYLINE240Z
  12. Thanks V8Datsun...and TeamNissan....if you have nothing of value to add shut the f up
  13. Along the same topic. Is is possible to do the following: Base coat the car silver Add Kandy Koncentrate to the clear (urethane) and then spray a couple of coats over the silver.
  14. Hey Rusty...very nice ride. That car would fetch good money here in Ottawa , Canada. There are so few that are not full of rot and guys are snapping up whatever comes up. I have a friend of mine with a bone stock 87 that is in decent shape and he has offers on it all the time. You did some really nice work on that ride...very impressive indeed.
  15. I used the EZ-wiring harness and it is very nice; same basic idea as painless with coded wires. It is a time consuming job however so be prepared for putting in the hours to do it correctly and neatly.
  16. OMG...that is insane. Very nice fab work indeed!!!
  17. Hey Alex. I had my car shipped from California. I used Autotransport.com They were great...They picked up the car from the sellers house and then I met the driver across the border at Watertown, NY,and then loaded the car on a car hauler behind a friends pickup truck for the ride back to Ottawa. I was in contact with the truck driver by cell phone to arrange the meet. You have to provide the US customs people with the title and bill of sale 72hours in advance of crossing over the border. I had these documents couriered from the seller to my home then sent them to the border. You have to send the docs to the crossing where you are planning on coming back into Canada. It was relatively easy. Send me a PM and I can give you some more info. Take care, Andrew
  18. Wheelman has the proper suggestion. For your application use the feed as your return then plumb in a new feed line in 3/8" and you will have more than enough fuel for your application.
  19. I run 3/8" aluminum fuel line to the engine compartment for feed and return. I then use braided line from the firewall to the rail/regulator etc. with Russell fittings. Aluminum line is easy to work with and I have never had a problem with it..just be carefull as it kinks easily.
  20. Detective with the Ottawa Police Service. Currently assigned to the Organized Auto theft unit.
  21. I am with Nismopick on this one. It is not a good idea to reuse them. It is designed to crush and seal once. The mating surfaces must be completely flat, even and clean when using these gaskets...I know from experience of having not paid attention to this. There are those who have re-used them and added some copper spray but not recommended.
  22. Gijonas...First I would like to apologize for jumping the gun with regards to your first post about design and fabrication of your parts for this swap. I guess I have been skeptical as a result of reading posts over the years by those who who have made empty promises and talking out their a**. My skepticism is likely due to reading too many BS posts on other Z sites, which I shall not name....any guesses?? I can appreciate the thought and time that have gone into your project so far and I commend you. I look forward to following these posts and am interested in the outcome as a friend of mine is contemplating the swap. Wish you well with this project and am impressed with what you have accomplished thus far. Andrew
  23. Hmmm...I am wondering why you have a pic of Mark Rolston's car as your Avatar...how about some pics of your ride.
  24. I have installed autopower bars in all of my Z's. The metal in the wheel arches where the bar attaches is thick/strong enough to take a good beating. Make sure you put in some good bracing on the underside (i.e strips of heavy guage metal or very thick large washers.) I have personally seen the after effects of a high speed crash and rollover with one of these bars installed on a 240z and if it was not for the bar I doubt the driver would have survived. Of course a full cage etc. would be better but for a street driven car it is perfect. My 2 cents
