  1. wow!! Fantastic find...keep it stock and just drive it. Very nice...
  2. Cool project! Was looking at how the car is up in the air...I hope those are not just cinderblocks...they can FAIL....I work in the emergency services field and have been to a fatal accident with a similar setup... just want to make sure you enjoy the results of your project...in one piece!
  3. Fantastic news....praying for a speedy recovery!!
  4. Ottawa,Ontario,Canada....frozen to the core:mad:
  5. How did the rear wing help out with keeping traction...the video of the car getting snaky from previous vids was wild!
  6. I run an AEM Water Methanol kit in my RB26 powered Z...It is a progressive kit and I use 50/50 mix myself. It is a great kit, easy to install and has made a noticeable difference in intake temps allowing for more boost/timing in my case. As far as threat to components downstream I have done quite a bit of research and the consensus appears to be that there is no threat. Take a look on Turbobuick.com. Lots of great threads about meth injection.
  7. Not sure about your State laws but here in Ontario Canada The Highway Traffic Act states that no person shall remove/alter any part of the seat belt assembly (oem) except for repair. I would venture that this may be addressed by your Deparment of Transport. If you are going to install a harness regardless you should also be very careful as to how it is mounted and also have some form of rollover protection as the harness will not allow your body to twist or move downward away from the roof which would cause serious injury or death if the roof crushes in. Also the problem I have seen on some installs is that the bar itself can come into contact with your melon in the event of a crash which of course would be a very bad thing. Some harnesses are also poorly anchored to the chassis of the vehicle or shoulder harnesses mounted incorrectly which would cause compression of the spine if involved in an accident. Most harnesses are designed to be used with a rollover bar or full cage with the use of helmet for track use...Maybe some others have more info about the rules in various states?
  8. 73 Toyota Celica at 16yrs ...would love to get another..wish I would have kept it! Then on to a 1973 stock 240z...and then several other 240's until todays toy...I dont think Ill ever not have a Z...its in my blood.
  9. As you noticed when you read through the threads there is a variance in what individuals find is acceptable for street use with occasional track time...I went through this as well.. I ran 300 front and 350 rear for a SHORT time and it was far too stiff for street from my personal experience Also is said oo stiff for the shocks to be efficient. I then changed out to 225 front and 250 rear and this is far better They arestill a little rough on our crack riddled bumpy streets here but I am happy with the setup...its not supposed to ride like a cadillac:) Its very much personal preference and what you are comfortable with especially if using on the street quite often. I am running these above mentioned spring rates (8 inch) with shortened struts with illumina adjustables and stiff swaybars front and rear.
  10. Very nice indeed! Nice clean engine compartment..looks very at home in there...congrats!
  11. That gap should not be there. If I were you I would replace the stock rubber bushings with a new set of poly bushings and tighten it up...will make a big difference. Check your differential mount while you are at it and replace if cracked/broken/worn...The poly mustache bushings are available from various companies...here is a set on Ebay..there are other suppliers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-Mustache-Bar-Bushings-14-1602-BL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQitemZ360021913084QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  12. Ktown Z, Just enter "HKS actuators" in the search function then tab down to ebay stores.
  13. This is where I am going to purchase my adjustable actuators. On the dyno the stock actuators on my upgraded turbos would not hold any more than 16-17psi. http://cgi.ebay.ca/HKS-Upgrade-Actuator-R32-R33-R34-RB26-RB26DETT-Skyline_W0QQitemZ200228723653QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
  14. Also...good luck finding one. Here is a reply from Motorsport Auto to my enquiry. "We are currently out of stock on the Nissan Competition roller pilot bearing. The roller pilot bearings currently on national backorder from Nissan Competition. We could be receiving the Nissan Competition roller pilot bearing tomorrow, 6 months from now or Nissan Competition could decide never to offer the roller pilot bearing again. There is no way for us to receive an accurate estimated time of arrival from Nissan Competition. The Nissan Competition roller pilot bearing may not even be what you are looking for. It is intended to be a race only part because every so often you will need to remove the transmission and re grease the roller pilot bearing":
  15. tks for suggestions fellas...was working through them...then broke my collarbone dirtbikin...grrr..thats gonna slow the process slightly
  16. Went to take out the car today and had the following problem. The car will start and idle with the wideband showing 12 or so at idle. As soon as there is any attempt to add throttle the car nearly dies, pops and misfires..will not rev at all. While I am trying to add throttle the wideband is showing numbers shooting up to max of 22?!?!. Any ideas on what to look for. The car was running quite well before being parked the day before.
  17. I have been having issues with the RB wiring harness in my swap...so many old brittle wires and faulty connector pins etc. I have a friend who is an aircraft wiring engineer and will help with rewiring. I have done the EZ wiring harness for the accessories but the wiring for the ECU and injectors etc is brutal. Does anyone know where the clips/connectors and pins for the harness could be purchased? If they can be then we will rewire with good quality wire and new pins etc. If this does not work is there anyone who has a nice harness available for purchase? Thanks in advance, Andrew
  18. Stony...I had a misfire at higher revs...changed the plug gap to a tighter .028 and it got rid of the misfire/stutter. Of course it could be something entirely different but you may want to give it a look.
  19. Hi guys. I am in the process of getting ready to install an OS GIKEN twin plate clutch into my RB26 240z. I understand that I will require new flywheel bolts and bearing and collar. I have seen that the bearing and collar are Nissan part numbers (I believe?). Does anyone know where to find/order the bolts?. I assume it is because they are a different length?? ANy help would be much appreciated. tks again, Andrew
