  1. If they gave the average of 4300 there would not be any news, because everyone knows that (Somewhere between 3500-4500). So they have to find a way to make the news and get the attention. The dealers could actually sell the cars for their scrap value, and anything over certain amount had to be given back to the customer. It was a real mess. So the dealer where I was at appraised everything at $1 and donated all the money over that to some charity. That made it easy.
  2. It's $24,000 per car if you only count the 125,000 cars that they think were added by the program, not the 690,000 that were actually bought through the program. If you count the 690,000 it is $4,348 average per car. I never agree with articles changing numbers in that way just to create a big shock on the reader. Many readers get the wrong information like that.
  3. New car dealers usually don't care about and don't want to mess with older high mileage cars. They don't see any value on them and wholesale them all to small car lots or send them to auctions.
  4. Expensive/Exotic cars that are thrashed (machanically and cosmetically) can get to the point where fixing them is more than what it will be worth once fixed. The C4C deal guaranteed a positive $3,500/$4,500.
  5. Sorry for not answering the question, but why not just go with the RB25 trans? It's stronger, should last you longer, and gives you room for future increases in power.
  6. As far as mounts go, in my opinion there is some interest around. I hear about new RB Z projects often. Specially if they are reasonably priced, there will be interest. The only issue I can think of with your idea is that the typical buyer would be one with no welding skills. Most people who can weld pretty good and have the equipment will just make their own mounts and place the engine exactly how they want it.
  7. I would recommend Karim... and many others will. His user name is racer98. He is known for quality motors. And he knows his stuff too, nothing like your incident should happen with him.
  8. That's what I think too. But on a side note, I was comparing these to the McKinney Mounts and they are VERY close to a perfect match, perfect with a little modification. I don't have my shell home yet, but when I get it I might try them out just to see if they fit. These might turn out to be another option for putting an RB engine in the S30 chassis.
  9. On one of them I can see two sets of numbers: N5150 and 11220 8L000. They also say ">NR<" Thanks for your help.
  10. I have looked at pictures of engine mounts from RB26s and they don't look like the ones that came with mine. Somebody told me that they might be the Z31 200ZR engine mounts that Stony has said can be used to mount the RB engine in the S30 chassis. Can somebody confirm if these are 200zr engine mounts? And if not, does anybody know what they are from? Thanks.

  14. The pictures are of a RB26, but he asked about a RB25. I don't think you can use the same clues to know what model year it is.
  15. I agree. I don't think anyone who got the chance of buying a Nissan restored 240z in 98 would beat it up and throw it in the junkyard. I bet all of them are well kept, garaged, and maybe for shows only.
  16. I would had taken the Z and the GT-R at the end to the garage and done the swap many people have been waiting for
  17. Not all blocks are drilled on the rear. You can just have the hole drilled, as you said it is clear where it was supposed to be, and tap the front one. Many people do it.
  18. I did it on mine, with a cutting wheel... Just make sure you wear safety glasses, or I would recommend goggles. When you cut through it oil comes out flying everywhere, because it is under pressure. If I hadn't been wearing safety glasses I would have had to clean 30-year old oil out of my eyes.
  19. How much are you willing to pay for a stock flywheel?
  20. I say sell it. And just to help you out, I will buy it. But man, a car needing new paint and all those things can't be worth that much. So I will give you the $1,000 that it's worth. And since I'm the first one to say sell it, I got dibs on it!!!
  21. The only way I can see some of those cars being traded in for $4,500 is if they were Salvaged and COMPLETELY trashed.
  22. So it does make a little difference
  23. EBay... or any engine importer? By the way, I think that shell is well worth the $1,000. The engine is worth nothing. I wouldn't spend any money in it. Buy a VG30DETT swap off ebay or off a local importer. That will be the easiest swap and the most power/potential for the money.
  24. If you want a quality engine contact Karim (racer98). If you want the N1: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RB26DETT-R34-GTR-N1-Nur-Spec-Engine-Unit-longblock_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQhashZitem22f9b135e7QQitemZ150218028519QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories If you have the money for the N1, why not go ahead and build a new one? There's an N1 short block on ebay for $1,800 Nismoparts.com has the crankshaft for $577 From there you have room for the intake, head, and you can go forged on the rest of the bottom end. I know it will end upt costing more, but you will have a built bottom end. Or one more option, better yet than the N1 RB26DETT. If you have the money to spend, contact Rob at RIPZ. Go for the RB30DET
  25. When nobody else wants to race you anymore... That's fast enough......... ........Until somebody comes up and beats you... Then it starts again
