  1. Ok so it does run...but not really. Ok I have an 83 280ZX turbo w/ N/A electronics. I was having problems before with my car sputtering while I was driving but ok at idle. Well I came back two days later and started it up and it was missing very badly. Well since then i've cleaned just about every connection, got new injector wiring plugs, and bigger injectors (not sure what size they are but they came from an 84 50th 300zxt.) Anyways I'm stumped on what my problem could be. Has anyone had this happen before?? Please let me know. P.S. If you're using N/A electronics and bigger injectors do you have to adjust the AFM?
  2. Many questions pop into my head, first how many pounds of boost are you planning on running? What are your HP expectations? Do you want onr with an internal wastegate? And I could go on.......
  3. Yeah I've thought about the connections at the AFM but I didn't think about the injectors. The weird thing is, is that it started to do that earlier the same day then stopped but now it won't go away. Could it also maybe be a bad fuel pump?? I wish I had an FSM but I don't. I'm still trying to get my hands on one.
  4. Ok i was afraid my description was vague. Its like you said Tony on and off the gas pedal. Basically feels like the car cuts out. It sounds like also the intake might be backfiring because there is popping coming from up front. What gets me is that its fine at idle so, I'm no expect, but doesn't that pretty much exclude the AFM from the picture? Also it only really happens if and when its under boost. Hope this time I made it more clear. I'm just frustrated cause I just got the car on the road and now this.
  5. OK so I just got done building my 83 280ZX n/a. I pulled the engine out and rebuilt it and put a stock turbo on it, 650 front mount intercooler, still running n/a electronics, only at 6 psi boost, got an ebay knockoff bov. I don't know what else, but here's the deal. It ran awesome for about a week no problems whatsoever. but now when i'm getting up it sputters, surges, cuts out...whatever you want to call it. Also when its at idle it revs fine all day long. but the minute I take it for a drive it starts to sputter again. What could it be. I was thinking that it might be a fuel pump but I don't want to buy one and replace it and find thats not the problem at all. Has this happened to anyone??

  7. Ok so I have an 83 280ZX N/A (well it was N/A but now its turbo) and I just rebuilt the engine but I forgot where the wires go on the alternator. If someone could draw me up a picture, or just take a picture of theirs and post it that would help me out alot. Thanks.
  8. I've had this problem a couple of times. Mine have all turned out to be just dead cells in the battery. So I bought a new battery and problem solved. You might check the water in the battery too.

Yeah olderthanme I have a p90a head sittin around i'm not using. -3 L28 flywheels -a whole 260Z UP FOR SALE!!!! -280ZX rear hatch -280ZX front bumper and brackets -260Z hood -N/A L28 intake and exhaust manifold -L28et intake manifold -P90a head -L28et stock fuel rail -L28e fuel rail -clutch slave cylinder -5 speed tranny I'm sure there's more. LOL

  11. Well at least I know I can stack them. Yeah I only plan to run about ten pounds with 440cc injectors and megasquirt and hopefully it will be fine. I am trying to track down some dished pistons because i would rather be safe than sorry.
  12. Ok i'm so ive sat here for the past hour lokking for answers but I cant find it. I'm converting my N/A l28e to turbo and staying with the flat top pistons and p79 head. I know compression will be too high so can I stack head gaskets to achieve lower compression. Or, correct me if i'm wrong, but can you use L24 rods?
  13. It would if you had removed them. I swapped manifolds on my car and forgot to groung to of the groung wires and it wouldn't start. I'm not really sure what it would do to the voltage meter. Have you checked all fusible links?
  14. Hmmm They have a cut off switch when the build enough pressure when the car isn't running yet. Is there a leak in any of the lines relasing all the fuel pressure as its trying to build? As for the injectors start with the easy stuff, make sure everything on the harness is grounded. Try the connection at the ecu where the harness plugs into because I had to pull my harness off and clean it once and it solved alot of my issues why my car wasn't running.

  17. Yeah thats what I was thinking possibly the Vacum advance on the distributor. Actually its in arizona. My friend is from Maine thats where that one came from. The funny thing is is I don't even have that 300 anymore. Yeah this is stressing me out cause I can't figure it out. I'll try the advance though.

Ok I have an 82 280ZX N/A and just swapped the stock intake manifold and throttle body to the N42 non egr manifold and the 240SX throttle body, but when I turn the car on it won't idle and below 2000 RPM's it makes a popping noise in what sounds like the 5th and 6th cylinders. Once I get it up to 3000 it seems to run fine but the RPm's slowly go from 3000 to 4000 without me doing anything. I'm not sure if it has to do with the vaacum advance on the distributor or any other vacum problems just because that had to all be bypassed with the install of that manifold. Please help me i'm totaly stuck.

  20. What I did was got a turbo AFM that was gutted and has the N/A wiring hookup so that you dont have to fumble with wiring and you great the much larger airflow.
  21. What is the best megasquirt option because I went to order one and there was alot of different options that I had no idea what to get.
  22. What intercooler piping kit is that on the first picture. I've been looking for a piping set (preferably 3") but I don't want to buy some universal one off Ebay and have it not fit. Anyone know what it is or one that I can pick up for a good price?
  23. I'm turboing my N/A motor. Well i'm staying with the N/A ecu and harness for now cause I only plan to run 8 to 9 pounds of boost. I'll most likely go back and run a megasquirt set up in the future. So unless you plan to run more than 10 pounds I wouldn't worry about the ecu. What I did instead was bought the 300ZXT injectors, high pressure ful pump, and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator.
