Rota Fast Forwards (Watanabe Replicas)
iHeartTouge replied to jacob80's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Definitely in for 16"s. If they dont make them in 16" I think I'll bite the bullet and get Watanabes. -

Rota Fast Forwards (Watanabe Replicas)
iHeartTouge replied to jacob80's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Oh damn. I like this design so much better than the RBR's I already bought. I bought a set of Fast Forwards years ago in 15". I could never find out who made them or if there were additional sizes. I think I want in on that group buy if/when it happens. -

cost for an LSx 240Z swap
iHeartTouge replied to hachikid's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I have my build priced out to about $30k so far. About $8000 for the drivetrain (excluding diff), $2400 for brakes/wheels/tires, $7000 for the body/paint/addons, $3000 for interior, and around $4000 for the suspension. Thats with lots of things like hardware, wiring, fabrication, and small stuff left out. Quality parts and services are important. Being patient and taking time to save money to afford the good stuff is also important, in my opinion. If its worth doing, its worth doing right. -
This is where I got a lot of my info for my original plan to turbo the KAE. My friend used the same forums to turbo his KAE for 500-1000ish I think. http://www.ka-t.org/forums/

My 2nd favorite car I've owned/driven (next to my 280) was my POS stock '93 240sx. The clutch master leaked onto the carpet, occasionally would throw codes preventing it from starting but was easy to bypass, door locks didnt work so I had to crawl through the hatch every time I bothered to lock it, and had been through a hail storm making it look like a giant golf ball. I loved that POS. It was probably my most fun daily driver of all time. Sliding in gravel, dirt, concrete lots and not giving a **** how it looked. Easy and cheap to work on. Ramming shopping carts in the Wal Mart parking lot. Getting a little air borne in a local construction site that never saw any progress. Easily having 9 or 10 240's + an FC (88 RX7) in front of my house most friday and saturday nights was awesome too. They're really great, fun DD's if you abuse them a little. I think it helps to be young and dumb. I had this car when I was 16-17. The track car I got rid of in January of this year. My SR20 was really finicky. If you do go the SR route, I'd recommend rebuilding it or staying away from Canadian importers, I can't remember the name but they spoke a mix of French and English and shouting if that helps anyone remember dealing with them. These cars can easily turn into an enormous money pit but it's so worth it. They can handle amazing and bringing power out of the SR or anything else commonly swapped in them is very easy. Picture from inside my POS s13 of my buddy's POS s13. After being kicked out of a local lot for sliding, we went to another and messed around. Mainly laying on the roof with the car in 1st and steering from there. Yes, there are two cars in that picture. I think it was cold, hence the terrible quality. And the track car I shouldn't have given up on.

I recently found a whole white paint kit in my garage my old roommate left behind. Primer, paint, clear, everything. I might go ahead and paint mine white since all the materials ended up being free . Love this thread, and I second the sticky suggestion.

I'll be keeping the heat in my Z. From past experience, a heater can help save the motor if it starts to overheat. Blasting my heater on my old SR20 made it drop 20 degrees. Having heat in the winter months in case my DD develops issues and isn't road worthy would be nice too.

I picked up an orange one from the Costco down the street. I was hoping they'd have black, but just yellow and orange. Its got a spot on my desk at home, but I might take it to the shop I'll be working at soon.

I dont watch much, but I do watch Full Metal Alchemist occasionally. I usually watch the movies. I've seen the Appleseed series, Tekkon Kinkreet and quite a few more I cant remember at the moment. I usually watch them inebriated one way or the other. I really want to see the Cat "poop" One series. Not sure when its coming out.

I hope an S30 is never shown in any of their movies. The only good thing that could come from having our cars featured would be more aftermarket support. But more Z's bought by little bandwagoners and destroyed. Although I doubt they'd have the dedication to work with rusted out bodies

very nice! congrats! a few of my friends have bought beemers lately and say they're very easy to work on. although they're both late 80s, early 90s models...

Stance has made coilovers for us.
iHeartTouge replied to LoneStarS30Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Looks like they have a new coilover line called GR+ 3 Way. I didnt really read into them, but they are $3600. I could never justify spending that much! I've never heard anyone say they werent satisfied with Stance's or AZC's products. I'd love to have either set up, but I know Stance's so thats what I'm going with. Any confirmation from Stance if the tubes come with camber plates? -
Paintless dent repair before and after.
iHeartTouge replied to tightywhitey185's topic in Body Kits & Paint
WOW! that sucks! i had a 240sx that went through a hail storm. it wasnt quite that bad, but everyone called it the Golf Ball. i miss that piece of crap. that dent repair you had done is very impressive! -
Stance has made coilovers for us.
iHeartTouge replied to LoneStarS30Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Stance coilovers are very good! I've used them on my 240sx and couldnt have been happier with them. I'm also using them on my Z. They're great quality and dont break the bank! Their coilovers range from about $1100 to $3600 depending on who you go to and exactly which coilovers you choose. GR+ Pro's are about $1200, and their most expensive are the GR+ 3 Way which appear to be new. I'm going with 240zdan's coilover adapter kit with the Stance's. http://stance-usa.com/sus/products/coilovers -

twisted chassis?
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
well i did recreate the gulf coast oil spill in the garage yesterday, and all the oil and coolant flowed to the right instead of just sitting in one spot. i guess it does have a low spot/slant to it. i really hope thats all it is. never thought to question the garage floor. thanks. i still cant find anything that points towards the frame/body twisting.
