  1. I know, I know, everybody says don't mess with the stock AC compressor, but I couldn't see opening up a system that was working perfectly so I had to try. I have the 350 bolted up and just pulled the compressor out of the way. I want to try and fab a bracket and try to use it but I'm not sure if it will even fit under the hood. Has anybody done this? Have any picks? My engine is in the JTR position. Thanks Jeff (I live in Texas and its 95 degrees and I can't afford to have a new AC installed in my project car right now) Hickl
  2. Yeah, I noticed that too. My mistake was not the spacers, I switched the set back plates from right to left. Did ya'll also notice that in the pics in the JTR manual, the setback plates don't "set back" as much as the ones they sell? If you look real close at how the motor mounts line up, you can see the difference. I know, I should pay that much attention to my wife. What color are her eyes again?
  3. I plan to make my crossmember (JTR replica) during lunch today. I noticed that my floor pan (76 280) isn't flat like the 240 was were this thing bolts up. What did you guys do about this? Just bend the crap out of the floor?
  4. I'll never tell! I posted a quick pic taken last night in my garage to "my personal photo album". I'll get some better ones up later.
  5. JTR SUCKS! There manual is garbage! I made all the brackets just like the blueprints and the crap just won't line up! Motor is all crooked, bolts won't go in! I want my money back! Those guys must be idiots!....Oh...wait a minute.....I've got one of the brackets on wrong...let me fix that...........WOW! motor fits perfectly! JTR rocks! Best conversion ever! I love those guys. Ha Ha..No pain No gain right?
  6. Thanks, just sent him one! Jeff
  7. Yah I know, but what year F150 or are they all the same?
  8. I read an old post were someone used a F150 master and hose and it hooked right up to the Camaro slave with no mods. anybody know what year F150 stuff this works with? I looked at the auto parts today at one from an 85 I believe and it was plastic. Has anybody else tried this hookup?
  9. What about using a Camaro master with a Camaro slave? Will the Camaro master not adapt easily? Seems like the logical choice but since nobody is throwing that option out there, I assume there is a prob with it. Please advise.
  10. Thanks guys. No header wrap for me.
  11. I'm gettin really close to install! I am wondering what you guys think about header wrap. I have a set of block huggers, not sure of the brand as I got them from a guy on this site. They have pretty thick flanges and seem to be of decent quality. Anywho, I wondering if I should use header wrap. What are the pros and cons od the stuff, I have read that it voids header warranties, does it cause them to rust or what? Bottom line, should I use it or not and why. Thanks Jeff
  12. Thats what I thought, but I was begining yo doubt myseslf with all the blank looks I was getting from these people. I will try today with the part number. Thanks Jeff
  13. My harmonic balancer has a nice wear groove in it. Doesn't somebody sell a thin sleeve that you can press over the end to fix it so it don't leak? I'd swear that I have seen these, but every auto parts person I ask looks at me like I'm crazy. What am I to do? Jeff
  14. "please use splatter paint"? What are you trying to tell me FL327? Please expand on your post. RacerX, that stuff does look kinda interesting. I will read up on it when I get a chance. Thanks Jeff
  15. Too bad they don't carry "flame red"
  16. Cool, thanks, I looked at the colors listed. Do you use the plain "black", no gloss? Jeff
  17. Greimann, tell me more about this SEM trim black stuff. Is that rattle can, or what? Who carries it? Jeff
  18. Water soluable sheetrock mud? If so, then yes that does sound crazy.
  19. I know this was been discussed, but I can't find the thread. I am prepping engine bay for paint before I drop in the 350. I have removed all the unwanted brackets etc. I don't have the time or the energy to make the fender wells perfect so I am considering options. I have seen a post were a guy did a "crinkle finish" engine bay. Short of rattle can, how can this be done properly. I want to match my body color so can I put down the texture then cover with enamel or urethane or somethin to match my base clear body?
  20. Thats ok, your car is awesome, that allows you 2 mistakes per year.
  21. I know he's in Japan now, but his post said he was coming stateside tuesday and was having it shortened in Texas....Thats were I live!
  22. Wait!!! Stop!!! Hold everything!!! My driveshaft is too short....I live in Texas....maybe we can trade. I can check it tonight and let you know how long it is (the driveshaft you perverts). Let me know if interested. Jeff Hickl
  23. Mr. Greimann, I would like to get that shortened arm from you. I am very close to getting this thing on the road (even if its not "perfect"). I have no problem fab'n a bracket. I work in a machine shop, just finished all my JTR brackets. Thanks for your feedback Dan, I did read the JTR manual, just trying to cut a few budget corners to go spin some tires! I tried the search engine but didn't have a bunch of luck and figured I would abuse the good natured people on this board and just ask again! LOL actually, I was just ini a hurry! Greimann, looking forward to hearing from you. Jeff P.S. I plan to "test fit" my motor tonight!!! He Heeeee
  24. Will the stock nissan master and slave cyl operate the t5 with a stock clutch? (with custom bracket for slave of course) Also. I need a flywheel. Anybody got one that's in there way. The dude I bought the tranny from sent me the clutch and said he would send me the flywheel, but I never got it and can't seem to reach the dude for the last 2 months. Thanks for any help. Jeff
  25. Took the big step! Drove the car to work yesterday, got home and yanked the motor. The swap begins. Anyway, My JTR manual doesn't offer much help with the removal of wiring for the fuel injected 76. Can anyone advise me on what all to pull and how? Does the whole computer come out? I haven't looked at it very closely as I pulled the motor at 10:00 last night then went to bed, but there's a pretty big harness that feeds the injection system and I don't want to screw up anything I need. (I am putting in a regular old school carburated 350) Thanks for any help.
