  1. cases are different between wc and non wc. Not sure about the ford stuff.
  2. Hey Don, I don't think I have any real options. The general consensus is that nobody sells any improved gears for a non-w/c gm t5. I will probably just rebuild it again and drive nicely till I can afford a real tranny.
  3. No problem Braap, thanks for the attempt. I'll probably call them again, may have just got the wrong guy on the phone. Jeff
  4. The guy that built my T5 originally who is a performance mustang expert thus very well versed in the T5 tranny told me to use royal purple's "Synchromax" (I think that is what it was called) I drove it (hammered on it) for at least 2 years and when it pulled it out for the broken gear, everything else looked great. Just my 1 cents.
  5. Hey Braaap! I stumbled upon the D&D website while browsing the web. I promptly called the number and the guy whe answered the phone told me that they do not deal with GM T5's at all, only fords and that he recommends to anyone that has a non WC T5 to throw it away. I replied with a sarcastic "thanks for all your help" and that was it. Confused...
  6. Mine is a non WC t5, I tore into it last night and it just simply broke the teeth off of 3rg gear and of course the opposing gear on the cluster. Does any sell stronger gears for this thing? I went to G-force's web site and they don't do it anymore. Hey Bill, as far as my engine setup, 350, dart sportsman II heads, comp cams xe274h-10, torker II intake, holley 600 carb. Est hp to be around 350, hopefully 375 or more but just got it running good enough to test with this engine setup and the first time I hammered on it this happened.
  7. I had recently put a larger cam and misc other performance stuff on my motor, finally got it tuned and first time I hammered on it 3rd gear broke! How much hp have you guys been able to put thru a T5 without this happening? Jeff
  8. if it's a cowl hood for a 76, I am interested. Jeff
  9. can't make it tonight. My sister is in labor having her first child. I guess that's more important.... Next time I do have a new, nastier cam and set of roller rockers to put in soon. Anybody want to drink some beer and get greasy? Jeff
  10. What's the deal guys? Is this gonna be another failed attempt to rub paint and talk a little crap? I could do something this weekend or maybe during the week next week, but from next friday on thru Christmas, I'm afraid I'll probably be out. Jeff
  11. Being a dad of 2 young children, I would be cast to the depths of hell if I spent Christmas eve with a bunch of car guys. 12/24 won't work for me but if that's all that works for the rest of you guys, I will just catch the next one. Hickl
  12. My December weekends are already getting booked up by family and what not. Let's try to get a day picked so I can lobby for position. I have a company christmas party on 12-9 that I can't miss. Vann, when do you get out for Christmas break? Hickl
  13. Christmas it is then. Vann, your at the college formerly known as SWT right? If so are the stallions still in the quad? The stopry was, when a Virgin grauduates from there, they will fly away. God I miss that place. Hickl
  14. I'm always ready for a gathering (except for thanksgiving weekend, ha ha). I've been to get one together ever since I built my car. Me and Chris (Turbo) used to hang out and I've met ON3GO over there but that's about it. Hickl
  15. That's cool Ken, I actually work in Humble, right off Beltway 8. Only about a 20 minute drive from Laporte. I drive the Z to work quite a bit, I could meet you in this area if you wanted. Vann, I would love to check out your ride also but I am out of town over Thanksgiving. Maybe next time. MJM, your not too far from me, ever hit any of the woodlands cruz spots? Jeff Hickl
  16. Hey Kraymond, I have a V8 Z but as ON3GO stated, it's an old school carburated V8. I live in Conroe and work in Humble so if you want to take a look at it just let me know. Later Jeff
  17. I am trying to figure out how much my motor should lean back without causing any problems (not concerned with drivetrain yet). If I set a level on the top edge of my valve cover, I have about 3 degrees of tilt from front to back. What is the perfect setup, does it really matter within reason, will a 700 r4 be adversly effected if tilted too much? Thanks Jeff
  18. I'm sure it is "choking it" a little. With my single 3" (no cat), I can shave almost .2 in the 1/4 by removing my exhaust. Mine has a flange right about under my feet and I can remove the entire back section from there. I agree that duals would be sweeter, but $$ was an issue and mine was cheap!
  19. I have a 3" single with a flowmaster and am very pleased with it. Not sure of my HP but ir runs high 12's with the pipe on. Jeff
  20. Why can't you just run the normal Chevy A/C bracket and compressor and hook it up to the datsun evaporator with custom hoses? You can, I did. Am not totally pleased with the output but I kinda half a$$ed it also. My cooling system is not pulling enough air thru the rad so I wasn't getting the max potential but it does work and I expect with some greater knowledge than mine, could be made to work just fine. It's hot in Houston also. Jeff
  21. Good God Mike, Just when you think you know a guy he goes and does something like this. I just sat in my office and drank 7 beers just to try and fiind a mindset in which that thing would look cool and I just can't do it! I know you'll want to get this thing in the 10's or 11's like your other cars, how will you do it? I know you can't talk Chris into turbo charging that thing for you. I know he totally hooked you up on Blue, but if he touches this one, I'll slap him. I vote that ON3GO be formally banned from Hybrid Z for posting such vulgar and offensive pictures. Peace Hickl
  22. Hey Guys, Jegs sells a MSD kit for a stock Hei (pn 121-8501, $152.99). It includes a MSD coil, module, cap, rotor and dust cover. Is this worth doing? I have a stock HEI setup right now and am wondering if I will gain anything with this setup or if there is a better route to take. I would like to stay with the HEI. thanks Jeff
  23. "Hickl, Jeff, you're a pal! thanks for your help, and needling as to the status of my car! wanna race??? (gimme a car length?)" No Problem on the machined parts. Yah I'll race ya, first one to 60' right? And no, on the car length.
  24. If those mounts are in tact, your problem is probably internal. There is a roll pin that breaks and allows a larger pin to float back and forth and thus tear up the other gears in the diff. I have went thru 2 with my V8 Z already. I hope it's your rubber mounts. Jeff
  25. "Shim the mount down using some washers untill you get it correct, measure and make some solid spacers. Jon" Jon, please explain, are you referring to the tranny or diff mount. If the diff mount, isn't it below the nose thus shimming would raise the nose more? I'm not following you. I'm stupid. Thanks, Jeff
