  1. I need help. If you have ever taken the door lock assembly apart before should the "remote rod" as it is called in the Haynes manual be bent like this???
  2. Should I change the valve springs while I'm in there? I noticed the PO hasn't done **** to the engine. Pardon my french, but the block was still using factory injectors and fuel hose lines when I received it. I guess what would be good things to do while I'm rooting around in there?
  3. Thank you for the pro tips guys! I am going to search, attempt to fix and report back with results! You guys are the best!
  4. Hey Peej could I get your number? I bought the entire front end suspension & power steering assembly off a 1997 BMW E36 M3 for wicked cheap. I could definitely use your expertise as I install it. I'm sure I can do like 90% of the work but it would be cool to just be able to call or text somebody instead of having to wait several hours for the hybridz response. Thanks brother! YOUR CAR IS ******* AMAZING!
  5. McGuckins Home Depot or any home depot wanna be competitor in your area. I bought a little kit that has every kind of connector I will ever need for electrical stuff for like 5 bucks.
  6. If you read my engine rebuild thread, I may have been taking this problem a bit too far. The problem I am having is that there is burning oil smell in my exhaust, or maybe there is just burning oil coming from the engine... The thing is I replaced the front crank case seal and that stopped the only real "leak" my engine had. I can leave my car in the parking lot for days and there is no embarrassing stains from her time of the month. My car only smells like burnt oil under load. The general consensus seems to be check the valves. It seems like a very simple job that I would be happy to do, but are there any other causes? Also I bought a fel pro head gasket off of ebay which arrived bent ever so slightly pictured here, Should I be concerned? Also I have a couple problems and if you have an opinion on fix order I would appreciate it. I have floor pans that are in pppreeeetttyyy bad condition. The PO included brand new baddog frame rails in the purchase, but I still need to fabricate floor pans and I do not own a welder... YET the u-joint is also going. The rumbly sound I get in 5th gear isn't my transmission going bad but something in my driveshaft from what I can figure. Sooo considering I am going to be 20 years old in about a month, and am balls deep in college I'm not really looking at making money. I am trying to build my reputation as a web developer and I didn't get into the google summer of code so I have to look for other means of scholarship money. Until then I get the occasional help from the family because they don't want me driving a death trap. What should I do?
  7. I read about a member on Classic Z car forums who sourced every part from specialty places and ended up saving himself a couple hundred dollars compared to a complete rebuild kit. It took him a long time to source all the parts, but since he has already done all the hard work of find the locations I have opted to contact him. I am starting this thread because I want to know whether the price difference in sourcing individual parts of the kit is worth the effort over buying a complete kit. I also want to know if there are any complete kits available, the quality of the kits and any caveats I should be aware of. I have done some preliminary searching but the information is scattered between topics that specialize in either the Engine or the Transmission. I hope by you veteran users chiming in we can create a comprehensive up-to-date source of information.

  9. http://i.imgur.com/RA5Xlh.jpg Has anybody done a modification like this? I searched around google for a while but I got nothing but spammy results for Quarter Window Weather Stripping etc.. etc...
  10. My last got was a sloshbox, and reeked of exhaust. My mechanic half assed a couple of the job on the car so the v-belts would screech at high speed (top speed was like 70 mph LOL.) When I started dating my girlfriend I couldn't bear picking her up in that thing so I did what I could to sell it. Got rid of it for a decent price. 1500, and used that money towards a not too bad 280z. I got lucky that it was the best of the bunch (out of the 240s, 260s and 280s IMHO) but unlucky in year. Its a 1976 so I don't look forward to moving to California and having it smogged. I began my search for a new vehicle with a 280z because of the Russ Chimes music videos.
  11. Just a few things to say here. I'm using my birthday money and my budget it likely to be in the ~600 dollar range. I want to start on TIG because of the hassle of trying to sell my MIG welder — if I get a mig welder. I dabble in re-sale all day, and its a pain in the ass, and I hate it. Such is the life of a kid whose trying to get out of community college/living with single mom. So I figure I am going to have to do a lot of fabrication. I want to do it right the first time. What are my options. Please help.
  12. Thanks for the heads up brother!! Tools involved?

  14. hahahah thats so brutal dude. :thumbs up:
  15. My girlfriend says she loves the smell of gasoline. I like it too, but not when its coming from my car. I've fixed all the leaks but my 28oz is running a bit rich. She still loves the smell. I don't know what she's going to say after I fix that. I love her for putting up with my death trap project. <3 Shes a trooper.
  16. Raspberry Pi? 25 dollars and easily more powerful that any onboard computer included in any car today. If you were great programmer you could just put a central touch screen ala the new McLaren hidden under the center console arm-rest. Use the freed up space for cup holders and other necessary features.

  18. Is very interested... What type of wedge socket is stock if I may ask?
  19. Those look like ghetto rigged fusible links. And if the connectors are bad, they could be preventing the car from starting.
