I used the Precision door seals on mine in the past year and they fit perfectly. It took a couple days in the heat for them to compress enough for the doors to close easily, however. My only complaint was the price - which was quite a bit more than the generic rubber seals from Pep Boys et al. Dennis

If you sell the G-nose, which appears to be bonded to the front flares, budget for the replacement front end pieces such as bumper & mounts, valance, new hood hinges, headlight buckets, and grille. It will likely be a wash unless your uncle stashed them away 30 years ago. Nice looking Z as is, by the way. Dennis

I consider those fees to all be part of the cost of doing business and they should be absorbed by the seller. They can be passed along to the buyer in a much more covert manner and everyone can still be happy. Dennis

With a little Photoshop magic, it's easy to superimpose a "see thru" Tiburon on the Z and see that the windows & roof line are a very close match. You'd have to check actual dimensions as there was probably a little distortion in the picture process - see below. Dennis

I just got my '71 back from the shop yesterday after having a new AC system installed to replace the ARA installed in '72. The new compressor fits nicely on the driver's side and is actually quite compact compared to the previous York that hogged the right front of the engine and blocked easy access to the mechanical fuel pump. A nice clean improvement to the engine compartment. When I picked the car up at the shop yesterday it was 112 degrees outside. The interior was just starting to get cool by the time I got it home. Probably not the best day to do a test run ) Dennis

If adding non-functional flares to a Z gives someone a warm fuzzy feeling, they should do it. Life is short. I agree with adding them for the "cosmetic" appeal and not cutting the fenders. Just place them a little lower on the fender than in the thread referenced above - enough to cover the lip of the existing wheel well opening . You will, however still have to drill 24 holes in your fenders for the fasteners needed to attach the flares. Nutserts work great on the rear fenders. Use nutserts or nuts & bolts on the front fenders. That's easier to patch than a radiused wheel well opening. Just take your time so you get the 24 holes right the first time. It's your Z, have fun with it. Dennis

In spite of the economy, it's still fun to pour money into my Z - probably a sure sign of addiction. The new AC gets installed shortly, followed by paint & interior. Then, I'm sure there will be more. It never ends. I've owned it for 37 years, it owes me nothing, it rewards me greatly. How can you put a price on that? Dennis

I find at least one Z in the Pick-A-Part every time I go. The inventory is constantly changing. I've seen all of the parts you mentioned during various visits in the last six months. Just go with the frame of mind that you probably won't find everything you need - or anything you need - on any given day. Dennis

Clean it up the best you can and add the flares. I have similar bondo over fiberglass on the wheel arches and will be doing flares. I live in a dry climate and it will be 20 years before rust pops through again - I probably won't care as much when I'm in my 80s. Dennis

I tend to agree with woldson. It's an emotional decision. Get advice from people who have done it - not from people who have thought about doing it. There are adoptive parent support groups in most communities. Ask around. Just remember, kids don't come with guarantees....and adopted kids often come with "baggage" and no prenatal care. Dennis

Anyone have a current source for a quartz clock movement to replace the stock internals? I've seen suggestions for a kit from Michael"s craft store and another from Walmart. I'm looking for something that fits easily in the "can" and doesn't require too much work to make the stock hands fit. Currently available suggestions appreciated. Dennis
