    you could try doing that yes but make sure to put some starting fluid in the plug holes or wd-40 something to lube the cylinder walls to keep from scoring them

    I'm over here looking at my parts car and turns out the mirror has a crack in it not sure if that matters

    check all vacuum hoses behind your AFM easy way to do this is get some starting fluid and a fire extinguisher just in case and spray all major vacuum lines behind the AFM including the rubber boot directly behind it. If your rpms go up briefly then you found your leak you could also try adjusting your TPS and your AFM. The AFM in my 77' was bad so i bought a new one and it came out of the box calibrated to lean.

    so i'm a new member to this but i picked up a 77 280z 2+2 early model with the large spare it was sitting in a guys field for 9 years and i got it for 50$ i could pull the tank tomorrow and let you know if it is good or not if your still interested?
