  1. i'm assuming this is EFI where have you checked for fuel? just seeing if your pump is on? clogged fuel filter possibly, injectors not pulsing, not enough air to the engine, etc.
  2. yes there lies the problem... finding someone that knows what DOES work with triple webers... hopefully my phone call this weekend willl help get me back on the right track -Ed
  3. Yeah well USAA isn't exactly the great company it's cracked up to be either. When my car caught fire over a year ago I suposedly had "full coverage" yet they refused to pay anything. Then when my father's Porsche was backed into at the gas station in Lousiana, USAA refused to fix it claiming it wasn't enough damage. I guess they haven't looked at how much a headlight costs on a 911 recently. The only way we got it fixed was to threaten the guy that backed into us with a lawsuit, suddenly Allstate coughed up the money. Bastards. So honestly in my opinion I see no point in even having insurance except that i can't drive my car unless i do. Yeah I was lookn' at hagerty since they dont' have milege restrictions, but you have to have your car stored in a locked garage, my garage is ugh... a very full workshop. Mike said his insurance company was Hardford... but i'm thinking he might have meant Hartford. -Ed
  4. if you have a stock cam the Z's give out about 5500. Alos, less advance will give you mor power you advance too much you cut your redline down. You have a 240 so i can't tell ya much to correct that other than a biger cam and upgraded springs to prevent valve float. My EFI 280 i bumped up the psi that gave me damn good top end. -Ed
  5. Ok I've about had it with Z cars, or atleast triple webers. Determined to stop the backfire i spent the last 3hrs tuning. Only to find it backfires more. So I went through my 280 book trying to find the reluctor gap for the pickups said between .2mm and .4mm so i set it aroun .27 about half for both (have a dual pickup right now) Then i noticed a silver plate on the dizzy was WAY off to the right, figure that can't be right.. checked the book. It's the Phase adjuster plate, So I set that to where the book showed, then i started the car, umplugged the vacuum hose to the dizzy and set timing about 12btdc The car sounded healthier and more responsive, but at the same time... I lost my vacuum, it goes in and out. And it's not reading as high as it was before I started all this. So does the phase difference basically adjust the vacuum usage of the dizzy or? I don't know.. i'm confused. About ready to just put the pos efi motor back in and end all these nightmares. -Ed Triple Weber Hell
  6. I was talkn' with my bro Mike the other night and he was telling me he only pays 47bucks for full coverage on this 280. I about hit the floor with my jaw at the low price.. I pay 182 a month for only liability on my 280 with USAA. Mike and I are both in Houston,TX and around the same age. My question is.. am I getting screwed or did Mike find a crazy deal? What do you guys pay for insurance, what type of coverage, and what company do you insure your prized ride with? -Ed
  7. well... 300 fwhp is impossible in a Z they are rearwheel. Welcome to Z world.
  8. Mike... cause your running synthetic, the oil particles are much smaller to help lubricate, also causes leaks. i wouldnl't be concerned about it unless your loosing like a quart a day or something drastic like that. As long as your oil is still clean and doesn't look like mayonaise (signs of water in the oil) then your all good bro. Plus Z's are just pain in the *** like that and never work right!
  9. i'm takn' c++ now so maybe i an answer your question in a couple months lol
  10. I have an MSA front spoiler and Side skirts, custom fiberglass flares in the rear. The flares and side skirts are molded onto the body. This was done using AL rivets followed by fiberglass on both the side skirts and the flares. I've had no problems with cracks or rust etc from these pieces. The front spoiler, Is a piece of SH*T you just can't get quality body parts for these cars I think. I've glassed the front spoiler so many times, even had the damn thing crack on me. Yes i have gaps on the side by the lower fender, but I addes some glass to make the gap about a steady 1/8". The front spoiler is often removed on my car so re-inforcing it with additional glass has proven beneficial. I don't have a pic of the edges mounted up on the car, as i'm in the process of a paint job. -Ed Fire and cars don't mix well.
  11. I'd save the money for the next thing that breaks on it lol. you know how our Z's are. haha -Ed
  12. Here ya go... quality product, save you a couple hours reading wiring diagramns... -Ed http://www.rallylights.com/hella/intermittent_wiper_control_switches.asp
  13. I saw some for sale for all the 4 bangers but haven't found a 6 yet. -Ed
  14. Here's a cheap performance mod... gut the interior of that overbloated beast. Then I'd do the intake and exhaust, ditch the cat if you can. Get a fuel pressure reg that'll give you a lil more go on top end. As for the plug comment I completely disagree, I run bosch plat's in my car and had spitfires before that. Never had any probs, but i had two NGK plugs the insulator cracked. Manf flaw maybe? who knows. Welcome Newbie!
  15. you said your timing is off a bit... that could be the over heating problem. If not... I just ordered some Redline Water Wetter, I'll let ya know how it works. -Ed
  16. Well... get a normal gauge not the one in your car and hook it up... see how the needle acts bro, then call me and I'll tell ya what it means. lol More important, get that thing leaned out a bit and the BOV workn'. Anybody got a BOV to loan mike till he gets some cash?
  17. Hey i was thumbing through some porsche catalogs, when they go back over to webers, they use a 3psi fuel pump and recomend a bosch 009 distributor (going back to mechanical advance and points) thought it was kinda interesting. What psi is everybody running? -Ed
  18. congrats mike. Now you can get that b*tch off jack stands... ya beat me damnit. LoL peace, Ed
  19. so that's the seat eh mike? Bastard. on the note of DAD seats. I almost bought a set till i contacted the manufacturer. If anybody here cares about their life i'd go with a true racing seat or stick with the OEM both of which have been crash tested. Just a lil FYI DAD's have not been. I would rate them lower than an OEM seat in safety but hey, your life. -Ed Mike... we need a Z meet in the spring/woods area sometime soon.
  20. Defintaly like the curves on the hood, I mean girl, wait... I mean....
  21. I'm quite happy with my lifetime warranted maxima alternator -Ed
  22. yeah it's an intermitten relay pretty much, plugs in after the wiper motor. I could honestly careless if intermitten works or not on my car, i'm just glad to have wipers.
  23. haha sorry Mike just want it to look good for ya! 8) -Ed
  24. I don't know.. I have a triple weber setup and can't keep my motor mounts from ripping... really anoying. -Ed
