  1. so the question is ... if you can put a Z front end on a 240.... what's stoping us from puting a 240sx front end on a Z?
  2. NO, you can not simply "un-plug" the fusible links, however you can upgrade them to fuses which is much nicer looking and trouble free. The links connect lights and altenator, if you "un-plug" them you won't have either one. -Ed
  3. I don't believe so... these are the cheap read foam filters with chrome looking covers that say "RAMFLOW" on them.... i decided not to use oil on them as i decided it would make a bigger mess and reduce the airflow too much.
  4. I actually made a custon counsel for my radio, so where the ash tray is i put in a switch manel in the one i made... about 8 switches, one fog lights, one electric fan, one was for a gauge light... anyway the last one was the fuel pump. I actually like it better there... if somebody stole the car... they wouldn't think to fip switches in an ashtray to start the vehicle! Kind of a safety device. -Ed
  5. Good price on them 2! Did you notice how cheap the cross drilled rotors are? might have to get a set next paycheck. Thanx for the site. -Ed
  6. I know the 78 has different relay locations than the 76, but this happened to me... my fuel pump would cut in and out.. finally hardwired the fuel pump to a switch in the counsel.. .never had another problem. Things to check for you.... Make sure the FUEL PUMP RELAY is working... not the injection relay. BTW the ECU has nothing to do with the pump... it's controled off ignition power and a relay.. thas it. Also... if it's a 2+2 pull out the back seat... there is a red and green wire... these wires go through a gromet under the seat to the fuel pump... they have connectrs in plastic covers... make sure those are clean and tightly connected. Obviously your power wire is not hot... verify this with a volt meter. Also make sure when you turn the key.. that the red seat belt light comes on.. this is an easy sign the ignition system is working properly. If this doesn't help let me know... i had many nightmares with my 78 280z 2+2 -Ed
  7. My kit came with these ramflows... they should be decent enough for the time being till i make a box and my own system... but anyways.. This filter element is dry... i have a K&N recharge kit in my garage.. i was wondering could i spray the foam filter with the oil to filter out dirt better? or am i wasting my time in the difference of dirt it will catch...? since it's in the engine bay.
  8. My father purchased a set of magnecores for his 911 porsche not too long ago... very nice installation and nice quality, i liked them alot, but couldn't find anybody that distributed them for the Z!!! where'd you buy yours!? I'd love to have a set! -Ed
  9. you might also be talking about gelcoat.... gelcoat is used for making reproduction fiberglass pieces... it captures the details much better than fiberglass.... like a liquid fiberglass putty if you will. dryies as hard as epoxy... and usually white or black... great stuff used on boats all the time. -Ed Also... I'd like to add when sanding fiberglass ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!!!! My best friends dad almost lost an eye because a splinter went into his eye, luckily they were able to remove it, but it did worsen his vision in that eye. And don't wear the cheap dust mask... wear either a paint resperator or the heavy duty dust mask. Can you really put a price on your life?
  10. but is the vette motor any faster? that's the whole idea here...
  11. Best Ignition wires? Taylor good? or all hype?
  12. ok... I want to bring this topic up again as i never got an answer. My car caught fire over the summer and torched the OEM motor.. now it is a necesity i find a new one... i don't want an OEM from 78 that costs a fortuen and barely sheeds water... would a honda assembly work? any ideas are welcome!!! need quick ideas 2!!! -Ed
  13. so amps is equal to watts divided by current? if this is so... how do i figure out the amount of watts for a 12v cooling fan so that i can figure out the proper amperage for it? I can't remember my formulas.. that was 3 years ago for me. -Ed
  14. wait... now that i think about it.... air that we breathe is O2 and the ozone is O3... i remember that much.... so are you trying to tel me NO2 is air... because NO2 is nitrousdioxide correct?
  15. well now that i feel stupid i'm going to the library and checking out a book. -Ed
  16. yes... they do have things in fine text to cover their ass, however you do not get that until after you have purchased the kit.. no where on their website does it say anything like that, or do they tell you on the phone. As for the shipping cost... he agrred on the phone that if any parts where damamged or incorrect he would re-imburse shipping, conviently they forogt about this verbal contract. Anyway... All is said and done... the parts arrived Yesterday Friday afternoon, even though they were supposed to be here Tuesday at the latest. They ground a little off the manifold and fixed the throttle rod, they also provided a new intake gasket which is for a 240 (square ports)so i still have to adapt it, and shorter 10mm screws for the intake so the carbs can be properly bolted on. All in all i'm happy i put up the fight for what is right, the company has been reported for mail fraud, and to the better business bureau, as well as Weber for selling their carbs in an unprofesional manner. I am still very disapointed in the kit, it was porely designed and should have never been sold. There are still issues that i have to fix regarding clearances, and linkages. Honestly i will never buy another product from their company. The customer is to be treated with respect, however i was taken advantage of, lied to, and stepped on. I hope this post serves as a warning to any person buying their products who does not live within driving distance from them. On the happy note... All i'm missing is a radiator and some wiring and i have my car back finally
  17. suspension and bushings first... then exhaust and intake then brakes then add the engine. (gotta have the right stance first) then the sound
  18. Called again today after wondering where my parts where since they were supposed to arrive yesterday. Said they shiped them monday standard UPS when it was supposed to be sent last week express!!! GRRR! when i asked why they shipped out monday they evidently had no prior knowledge to any other shipment method. Also they refuse to refund my shiping claiming they saw no problem that woudlnt allow me to bolt the kit together. I hope i never meet this guy. -Ed
  19. man o man... is there a more depressing topic to discuss? I spent about 5k the first go around... no i'm spending another 6k and i still have another 2 or 3k worht of mods to do after that if i keep it. -Ed
  20. Disconnect your cold start valve.. sounds like it's stuck open flooding the intake. See if that helps. If not... make sure you AFM is propery connected... and check your timing... the ECU does not control timing on a 280z, Also check the TP switch that could be part of your "chugging" problem as well. -Ed
  21. unfortunatly as i was about to purchase my 911 my car caught fire. So currently all the money used to buy the Porsche is now being used to fix the Z and transfer to a diff colg. But one day....
  22. Negative that is incorrect! I called MSA when they first came out with the kit. It DOES require the use of spacers, and that is why they are so expensive, However they do provide everything you need to bolt it up. But if you have to get spacers anyways.. y not look at other wheels... just a thought. -Ed
  23. Does anybody kknow how many amps the headlights use ? i think it was 30 but i can't remember... i have to buy new connectors and need to know which one to buy based on how many amps it can handle. -Ed btw... I'm talking about Halogen headlights.
