  1. aight my bad... sorry i haven't used the search feature on here in a couple weeks i didn't know. My apologies -Ed
  2. You need to do a search. I myself have posted in GREAT detail how to swap to a 95 maxima on this site TWICE. look in misc tech. and 6cyl forum. -Ed
  3. you mean i'm representing the whole hybridZ population in Lubbock?!? -Ed
  4. calling all Z owners in lubbock TX, I have seen a few at school. Wondering if anybody is on this forum and if there are meetings. -Ed
  5. OK... so i'm testing this out... got a new battery, started the car today... the volt gague reads about 15.8 running, couldn't test at the battery as i was keeping it alive... anyway... i took off the hot lead after i turned it off (lead off the altn. that is) so we shall se what happens. -Ed
  6. Since everything else is custom i figured it's time to do the interior. Seeing as i have done little in my interior I was hoping somebody on here might be an expert in this area. I'm looking to add more gagues say two above the center three right there.. but i want a nice clean factory look. of course it's not factory but i want everything to match like it was. Also i'm gonna re-do my counsel again, this time lots of nice curves, arm rest, cupholders, etc. Need ideas on molding this... maybe foam, cut and shape then fiberglass? or maybe chicken wire and fiberglass? also.. I want to create new door panels to put some speakers in, maybe a pocket, etc. and add some interior lights that actually serve a purpose. any tips, tricks, techinques, gladly apreciated. -Ed
  7. I've thought about this while re-wiring my car... you could use some square aluminium tubing and polish it.. or some steel and weld it to the side and paint it to match, even electrical conduit and paint it up. Lots of things, be creative. -Ed
  8. aight, luckily in this small town they replaced my battery for free without a receipt (left that in houston 600 miles back) bought a voltmeter, stuck the battery in the car, ran it for a little. then killed it. The volt gauge reads just under 16volts while running. I disconected the hot leads on the Altenator, so we'll se what happens. -Ed
  9. after you do your vavles, check compression. They sould be around 165 with a 280z. If it isn't that high, just make sure they are all within 5lbs of each other.
  10. Any body located in Lubbock that owns a Z? anybody at all? -Ed
  11. So if i were to go to radio shack to buy diodes for my car. I would be looking for what exactly? something handling 16 volts min. Would it work inline, or does it have to connect the output wire to the ground wire? btw.. my gauges read aroudn 16 volts maybe a tid bit more when running gonna put a meter on it tomorrow. -Ed
  12. Well to put my .02 in now... I've had both. EFI and Triple Webers. The webers look awesome, reliable, simple, but still expensive. The EFI, hard to understand, but very rewarding when you do, looks messy, not too reliable atleast not OEM 25 year old ones. All and all it really depends on what you want. I personally love the way the carbs sound and that in itself is enough to make me keep them. However, if i was going turbo or higher performance i would go back to EFI and use aftermarket ECU's -Ed
  13. Alright so correct me if i'm wrong but from what i just looked up.. a diode is basically used to steady the current from the altenator turning negative pulses into half positive waves. something like that? -Ed
  14. xander... i'm curious about this... i need to go look it up... but what exactly is the definition of a diode? is it a kind of relay or a kind of voltage regulator?
  15. my bad... i was thinking like 1990 early. we have a 90 and a 94, and i hate them both... Best of luck. -Ed
  16. can i ask one question... Why?
  17. very true, i was refering more to the K-jetronic system very similar to the Z even uses many of the same pieces even an AFM. But with the money the Z is worth i'll only be able to buy a triple weber carbed 2.4L 73 or older 911. Although owning the 3.0 or 3.2 L 911SC sure would be nice.
  18. Where the hell where you when i had my EFI! what an ingenious idea. too bad i have triple webers now. I ended up putn' a 90 psi fuel pump in and running about 50psi for performance gains... runs really really smooth at that psi too. I'll print this for future use eventually i plan on owning a 911 could come in useful.
  19. I installed the seal myself.. nothing wrong there... and the drivesfast is smooth taken it out 2 or three times. -Ed i do run synthetic gear oil... maybe that it?
  20. no, the external screw you are talking about is for idle sets how much air bypasses the flap at idle. -Ed
  21. I disagree... the AFM is the heart of the 280z EFI fine tweaking can give considerate performance gains, as i speak from experience. is what you want to do it is pop off the black over... and inside there are two screws... if i remember right.. you want to loosen the one that holds a geared wheel on a spring. I believe you loosen the spring to enrichen. BE VERY CAREFUL TO NOT LET THE SPRING UNWIND!!!! OTHERWISE IT IS A B**** TO GET BACK TO NORMAL. when you are done seal it up with some silicon or gasket maker to keep water out. -Ed
  22. i don't think anything body wise is interchangeable with a 260 besides fenders and hood
  23. ok so i'm guessing your talking about the images under the folder... Zcars i like? let me know..
  24. well i'm glad that worked for you guys but the upgraded 4 row i had in there with electric fans didn't cut the mustard, got too hot in traffic. But hey if it works for you guys that's great. Fact remains, I bought it, It looks absolutely gorgeous, cools like an ice queen with a cold heart. I'm happy and nobody can bring me down
