  1. UPDATE. I called thew bmv in my area, and got the phone number for my local emissions test site. This is EXACTLY what they said...." We do NOT test 1975 and earlier vehicles, you do NOT need emissions" I am so happy, and i even asked them if it would then be legal to take my cat off and they said "you could do whatever you want". so now I will be getting in a few months my 3 inch full exhaust without the cat. can anyone say more horses.
  2. you are right they are really reliable, and a few get about 35-40 mpg on gas which is awesome.

  6. If I go with a full custom 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust system on my 280z will I still have good ground clearance......sorry for the hijack.
  7. I really couldn't find any good threads that had what i was looking fr so heres a question. does anyone know what octane is best for emission testing? 87, 91, or 97 octane. I think my 280z will pass emissions, but i want to do everything i can to make sure it will be a sure thing for it to pass. rubbinng alchohol in the gas and all of those little tricks people do like that.
  8. where did you find a new sending unit??? I am currently looking or a new one, and called all of the auto part store in my area....a last resort is the dealership, and I know where that is going to go. they always charge an arm and a leg and then some for new parts.
  9. thats a good idea, I didn't think of unplugging it, and cleaning the connecions. I also found some cheap insurance from crowel agency they quoted me $105 a month with a $114 down payment to start my insurance, so I am really happy. I am also starting a list for custom plate ideas for my car. The license branch told me I would have to wait a year until i recieve the plate. which sucks, but well worth it. for now, i will just get a regular plate.

  12. would you be able to put that turbo on a LS2? I know I already said that in this thread, but I was wondering if the LS2 could have a blower too?

I wiggled the temperature sender today, and i guess it is now fixed, after a few more days I will know, because I start it up and pull it out of my garage and into my driveway. i guess it was just some loose contacts. I was searching uesterday, and came across a thread that was saying wiggle all of your contacts, and plugs, because after a few years of just sitting, and doing nothin will end up corroding the contacts.... So for now the car runs great (knock on wood). I accidently dropped the clutch when it was in first gear after i fixed it, and left 2 tire marks in my driveway. Now all thats left is plates, insurance, and emissions, oh yeah and a job for me.
  15. I was just about to say go and do yourself a favor, and spend 10 bucks on k and n's oil filter.
  16. ok well it seems to run fine for now, I desperately need a oil change, and an oil filter. I am going to use Royal Purple Full Synthetic 10W or 5W 30 with K and N's oil filter. These are the oil products I use all of the time. I used to use Q full synthetic, but i switched.
  17. yes just lkike that. but on the downside, I will have to do all of this inside of my car, I don't think I will be able to take it out, right now I am working on how I will take it out of the car. I might just cut the base smaller, and cut the legs that angle the outer sube just a little shorter. i will asess the whole subwoofer situation either tonite if i go to my garage, or tomarrow morning.
  18. to do the fleece yuou have to first cut out an opening for the sub to sit on to, then make a tri pod for the ring the sub sits in or on, and then lay the fleece over the ring and staple it to the 3/4 inch base, and then you can start to fiberglass.thats the method I was going to do
  19. thats exactly what my car is doing, i turn the fuelk pump on and its like it gets too rick and floods out. I didn't know the guage was seperate. thank you for your help, i will update when i get a new sender.
  20. that car is awesome...I never seen a twin turbo on a z before< is that custom, or can you buy a kit? I would love to own a right side driver too. That car is beautiful.

Thank you I guess I really have come a long way from knowing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about z cars to knowing what I have learned, and it all thanks to this site for my knowledge.......but there is one thing i think i should add... the water temperature guage was working properly it was reading 190 degrees, I will still change the temp sensor and i hope that is the problem, the only other thing i could think of that may possibly cause this problem is the ecu, or maybe the thermotime, but i really don't know and understand the function of the thermotime switch?
  24. I put more gas in today about 3 gallons, and that fixed my fuel pressure issue, the car runs at 32 to 34 psi, and it is now holding the fuel pressure also. It wasn't before. Now my fuel pump is making a loud noise like it is going out, and when i start my car, and switch on the fuel pump it starts to make the car run really rich, I have black, and a little blue smoke when i rev the engine. I thought if I bypass the relay to the fuel pump, and keep the pump on, the fuel injectors, and everything else would stay normal, and make the car run right? But then why is my car running rich. I am starting to think I am WAY WAY WAY over my head with this car.
