  2. If you're still Looking to buy a set pm me
  3. Do you mean the beta motorsport sti stub axles? To fit the STi R180? If so I have a pair for sale
  4. awesome! thanks for the ideas. I have a love/hate feeling about both the Miata and the S2K. I love their performance but I'm not a fan of soft tops.... Has anyone been around an RX8? I've found a bunch under $10K. I just don't know as much about the Renis engine as i do about the Wankle.
  5. Yo guys. I'm looking for some opinions about a daily driver like Mikelly was before he bought his Stang. I pretty much have the same limitations too (MT, RWD [but will consider AWD], fun to drive,....etc). only difference (big difference) is I have a $15k limit. Need to keep payments down around $300 a month. So far I've been looking at 02ish M3's and FD3S's. Now my plan is to use this car to daily drive my 45 mile round trip commute as well as take it out and start learning to autocross and maybe even a track day (if i get confident enough). Let me know what you guys think! (side note: didnt know if i should have started a new thread or hijack this one, sorry). Daniel
  6. We should hang out though my Z is a looooooonnnnngggg ways from running. (having a hard time finding an engine). any idea what wheels you are going to put on?
  7. Awesome! glad you were able to keep it and get it going. can't wait to see it rolling around in town
  8. Not to sound like a complete arse here but about 7 posts below this one is a post call VQ35 swap needs list or something of that nature. might want to take a look.......
  9. I'm planning on running a surge tank rather than swap/mod the stock tank or put in a fuel cell. just another way to handle it
  10. Yeah I'm pretty sure whoever finishes first will be the first S30 powered HR but I'm guessing my build will take at least a year, which puts you and mark welllllll ahead of me. Hell I'll be happy to be one of the first "few" with an HR S30 haha. Marks car is CRAZY! cant wait to see what that thing will do. But for my budget, your car is what I'll be modeling my Z after. (more of a daily driver set up) I've been focusing on how I plan on doing my motor mounts. Mostly due to the fact I can't make up my mind haha (i work for a steel building manufacturer so i can make up some mounts pretty cheap just need to decide what i want.) Can't wait to see what else you've got going. Daniel
  11. I will be going with the HR and i will post my swap once i get under way. right now im in my final stages of getting my finances squared away.(damn HR's are expensive) so im hoping to get on ordering parts shortly! In the mean time I'll be watching your posts like a hawk haha Daniel
  12. I think you guys are confused a bit. power sliding is simply a type of or method of drifting. its really how people start to learn to drift. Want to learn what makes up drifting, look up the Drift Bible.
  13. get some pics of your exhaust! ill be starting in on the same swap in the next month or so and your build has been extreamly helpful
  14. As far as the VQ i think you are thinking of the DE engine. as far as i know the HR doesn't have the same oil consumption as the DE
  15. I'm guessing you mean a change of the hot side plus 8 to 10 psi of boost to make the added 100hp?
  16. Awesome drawing. Helps a ton. Pictures say a 1000 words. Thanks for the help
  17. I'm about to start a similar build with an rb25det but my goal is a bit less in the 350-400hp range later down the road. I know that i'll need a surge tank due to the carb set-up. with that said i was wondering if this set up would work for my 72Z? also what size lines do you guys think i should run? thanks
  18. like jtl260z said, pull your plugs and inspect them. if the car was running grossly rich the 3 rear plugs could be foul and wont fire regardless of what adjustments you make to the carb. so check your booster for a leak, inspect your plugs and replace if needed. there are a number of things you should check/adjust before you start messing with or tearing down your carbs
  19. id say that its the brake booster as well because you only need a small leak in the vac lines to have a problem. my 96 gmc truck just had the same problem. i had a leak in my booster and it caused the truck to run kind of crapy but not horribly. without the cpu to compensate it probably would have run much worse. you'd be best to replace the booster asap. one because it is likely causing some or most of your problems and 2 it could go out and trust me its not fun trying to stop a vehicle which out a working booster. (my trucks booster went out and good god that sucked)
  20. im no expert on su's but first is the car running way rich? if the piston is up then im pretty sure the rear half of the motor is going to be running extreamly rich in comparison to the front half. make sure the piston falls all the way to the bottom and isn't being hung up. good luck
  21. i second the valve adjustment statement. my stock 240z is having similar issues but i know for a fact that its running way rich and after playing with the carbs off and on for the last 2 months i pulled the plugs to find that cylinders 3 and 4 were black as hell and the rest were fine. my best educated guess is mal adjusted valves so i suggest you check your valves before you do anymore tampering with the carbs. also check your timing. good luck
  22. off topic but the drive from the bay to stockton is by far not the most boring....driving south on I-5 after 580 is the most boring drive in cali......every time i make that drive i want to shoot myself hahaha oh and good luck with that chasm you have
  23. Well Im 21 and I got my 240z about 8 months ago. Both of my parents had 280zx's at some point in time and i loved riding around in them when i was younger. So naturally I wanted a Z of my own for my first car. so when i was 16 my mom bought me this 88 Z31 that i had plenty of fun with i came to find out that the previous owner must have jumped a curb or two in it because the frame rails were dented and bent like hell along with the rear suspension. then the damn thing started overheating on me....(i didnt know nearly as much about cars as i do now and i dont know much now and thinking back i probably could have saved it haha) after the 300ZX i picked up a crappy 88 4 door hatch integra (a real piece though i found out that a honda can still run "ok" with basically no rings). durring that time i got into drifting so after the integra i picked up an 88 RX-7. cool motor but it lacked torque (non-turbo). that and while attempting to drift i hit a sharp curb fallowed by a brick wall haha. with the 7 rebuilt with pick-n-pull parts i went on search for a S30 for a few reasons -ive always liked Z's -the s30's have more to bring to the table in both performance and style than all the previous cars ive owned put together -no smog so i can swap what i want -i did some research and found this web site and along with it pics the users cars! after that i went on to search for almost a year untill i found my Z but its all good cuz shes all mine now
  24. will the 240sx rear up grade fit under 14" wheels? if no one knows could someone with the set up measure from the center of the hub to the out most part of the caliper.
  25. thanks for the extreamly informative post! Now Ive just got to find a store that sells 20wt oil
