  1. You also need the necessary permit(s) or license to sell stuff (cars?) You should be able to get the required info at your local or county commerce office, probably city hall can tell you where to get it.
  2. Make sure it's not your battery thatr goes dead overnight. Sounds like you figured that part out already ( disconnecting every night).
  3. Converting to a 14 V battery probably means just adjusting the voltage regulator. All the other stuff in your car should work fine. optima makes a 14-volt battery.
  4. The voltages involved with HID and incandescent bulbs are waaaaay different. There no way you could swap the bulbs. Kiknda like using a flourescent bulb in a 120V socket- it just won't work.
  5. Anybody tried using a 14 volt battery in their car? It's supposed to have many benefits. thx
  6. You should be able to do it with the car on the ground! Just remove the bold for the clamps & takethe tops off, then swap the bushings, reassemble and torque. I suppose you might need some leverage to get at the bushings or maybe even disconnect the tie-rod ends, but it shouldn't be too hard. Jusyt time-consuming. I did the sway bar on the ground no prob. Plenty of ground clearance.
  7. I do nelieve that we as a people need to clean up ourt language. Before, you couldn't evben say "butt" but now they say "ass" and just about any other body part (Spike TV channel) then you got South Park with it's (*profanity). If these shows were on really late at night, likethey used to be, so kiddies wouldn't see it, I might not have much to say against, but these shows are on when the kids are watching, and I don't likethat. What kind of technologically advanced people ARE we?? We're so advance and sophiticated, that we degrade into using profanity to voice thoughts. Looks like we should have kids take "Profanity 101" in high school instead of English class.
  8. Can all those custom & retro-rods get away with having NO bumpers because they didn't use them on all models in the early years? I think that Safety officials would want to see bumpers on cars even if they didn't have them way back then.
  9. Tell us if you used relays, and can you get a measure of the current requirements? thx
  10. Yeah, tell us the part # and any special mods you did. thx
  11. They would have to really prove you were not using your head, which isn't easy, especially if you are a "careful" driver. You have to have been doing some really questionably stuff at the time, like driving fast in a crowded road, with a truck heavy with furniture... Oops... j/k, but you get the point...
  12. I was just thinking about you, Teo... I thought you'd turn up when the snowbirds left! Reading my notes on this project. My gf's dad lives in Apollo Beach..., I was there a month ago yesterday, kayaking in the canals. So you will have about 250- hrs total on yours (mine is a GTO, not a VR, you know) I'm having a body shop do mine, and at $50 per hr, it's about $14,000 total. Sound right? I could do some paint prep myself, as well as the electrical & inside. thx.
  13. I'm about ready to start putting the GTO body on my car, so I want to put the pushbutton doorhandles on first. I spent a day cutting up metal, but it didn't really look like what's in the picture. Got no welder, either. So.... is there someplace I could order a set from, or could I contract with somebody to get a set with all the newest adjustments? Talked to John Washingtom so far. thx
  14. If you can hold a ped liable for a car collision, then the ped should have "Ped Insurance" meaning that you gotta have insurance if you want to cross the street (jaywalk), and be wearing a special nametag with your 'proof of Insurance,' otherwise get a citation for about $300. Or fine his employer. You could offer a commission to collect the citations for this, then there would be LOADS of volunteers to do that duty! LOL Cut down on jaywalkers, too. Or just shoot them with paintballs that STAIN. LOL Just yell at them the next time you see one!
  15. I think that CA has some comprehensive motor vehicle laws, so Tim's statement seems a little confusing, compared to a more common sense law, requiring to to be in a crosswalk to have the right-of-way.
  16. I'm just about ready to put my GTO body on the 280Z. I I just need to know how many hours it should take, so I can figure out the total bill, in case I need to get some more $$$ together. How long the body prep for paint takes woyld be nice to know- I might have enough to paint it this sunmer too. thx
  17. So the HID light sounds like a sophisticated flourescent bulb for your car (referring to the "ballast"). Except for the extra parts you have for the ballast, etc., it might be a good idea for the Zed if you had a place to put the ballast, where it would be safe and stay dry. I bet if you could wait for about a year, they'll have HIDs that are all one unit, 50% ofthe size and work better!

    Elusive Euro sound

I happened to find the only place in the U.S. to buy real ANSA mufflers, exhaust & stuff: http://www.fiatparts.com/muffler.htm

When you talk "ANSA", are you talking about the whole exhaust, the muffler, or the tailpipe? thx.
  20. Where does the ballast thing go? what (shape) is it? Do you know the current requirements? thx
  21. For you guys with the GTO kits... Whay are you doing to protect the back of the headlamps & the wiring & plugs? You can't just leave it exposed there unprotected. thx.
  22. I think that would be a good time for each of us to find out what the precedent would be in the area where you live. Does the Ped have the right of way, even when NOT crossing at the crosswalk? Another idea: How about a "Dummies Book of Practical motor Vehicle Law" ? It will tell you in plain language, the motor vehicle laws, so you can be a better driver. Maybe even some safe driving tips? What other surprises are there for us?? thx.
  23. This happened to me once. One side clicked- other not. Hazards worked OK. The problem was the corrosion in the connectors made a bad connection. find the right connector and clean the connection, then it should work. The hazard lights are on a different circuit than the T.S. Hope this helps... The flasher units are aluminum cand located under the dash, but above the steering column ( on 280Z)
  24. that's why I like to drive casually with a little extra room for safety. Butthen you get the other kind of people, who are in a hurry to create an accident, to cut in front of you.
  25. It's not just getting sucked under (which is impossible, BTW) there is a real danger of getting 'blown off' the by the pressure wave in front of a vehicle. I can tell you from my days of bicycle racing, when I spent hundreds of miles on the rural roads of sounthern Ohio. There you have the big tri-axles filled with coal going 50or 60 when they pass you (going 20) and you just feel like you;'re going to fall off to the side. The other danger is like in FL, where they have bike lanes on some major roads. People are occasionally getting KILLED because car drivers stray into the bike lane, or use ot for passing, or what else? At least around my area, there is a definite square curb between the bike lane and the street.
