  1. I thought primer was supposed to be applied with a roller brush?
  2. I wouldn't even bother with the build if I weren't going to drive it. Everything I have is functional. Besides, I already have a static 250 GTO- on the shelf. With the sorry state of the U.S. legal system, I would probably bet that if you were in any kind of collision, there would be problems for you if you didn't have any bumpers. There are already some holes in the front; two for air to the brakes and two for the driving lights. Those could probably be used for some brackets. there are three holes to the radiator, but I think I would rather not use those. the idea I had was to hide bumper BEHIND the face. You still get damage, but maybe that way it's only to the bodywork and doesn't go to the chassis. What's the technical term for "bumpers"? I forget.
  3. I remember a movie (twilight Zone?) where the pizza guy was grinding up the kids to put on the pizzas. Kids went nuts for it! LOL
  4. Just to poke a little fun at the Topic, did you know that the original line by Shakespeare was, " To be or not? To BE, THAT is the question!" not what most laypeople think- "to be or not to be..." It just shows what happens when you don't pay attention to the teacher.
  5. I was just wondering if there's enough froom to put some kind of bumpers infer the GTO front or rear clips? Or even put some removeable nerf bars or something on there while you drive around? ?The purpose would be to give some kind pf protection to the body, so you don't have a $20,000 repair bill necause some idiot tapped the back or the front. If you get damage, I assume it's easier to cut off the body part, grind off what's left and glue on a new part? YOu just can't pull it out like a steel fender. thx
  6. Higuys, I'm getting closer to putting my kit on the car, so I was looking this stuff up. What does he mean by the bracket that gfoes from the hood to the front bumper? there should be a brace for the bottom lip, and that's all I know. Is there supposed to be a brace to prop the hood open, like the Z had? The hood should use the corvette hinges (Alpha/Rhino hood). thx
  7. You couldn't choose Mr. K?
  8. I considered adding a belly pan, but then realized how difficult it would be to make. The bottom on a Z isn't that flat, with all the fuel & hydraulic lines, the suspension& driceline, and other frame pieces sticking out, would make fabrication difficult and the resulting bellypan would not be as 'smooth' as it should be. The next best thing would be to add a few deflectors underneath.
  9. the switch and the button are supposed to be on different circuits; the switch to enable the ignition, and the starter button to engage the solenoid ONLY.
  10. I found something interesting that's related to your project: https://secure.visav.co.uk/avshop/products.asp It's called "Grayston Starter Panel" 25 quid.
  11. The knock-offs are actually like really big wing-nuts to hold the wheels onto a threaded shaft that sticks out out the axles. What you are trying to do is to make a 'decoration' that looks like a knock-off. The bore on the ZX wheels is about 75 mm.
  12. Dot-- What did you search for(keywords)? It is possible to make those spinners.. I'm using some 280ZX wheels, and I took the clip-thing that holds the center cap and make a plate that screws on, then apply some decals. You could do the same, then bolt a spinner to that. Maybe spin-balance to make sure it won't fly off. Don't you want 5 of those any way?
  13. Hang onto the old fuel filter and cut it open, then dry it out to see what as in there!
  14. Tp clean the injectors, you really have to take them out, hook up to an electric gizmo to open the valve, and backflush. Otherwise, you are just pushing more junk into the tip to clog it.
  15. I was concerned some, but more about being able to control the car to come to a smooth or safe stop. If the thing breaks on the highway, you should be able to keep control to the next exit or wherever you can get , like home, or just onto a street so you can drive carefully around corners and avoid deep holes or bumps.
  16. Would it be a good idea to have a spare set of T/C rods on hand? I mean, if I spot a set on eBay or new somewhere, should I snap them up? whould there be an advantageto have atight-fitting over tube on the rod, maybe strengthening the rod?
  17. The regular fuse panels only had about a dozen fuses, so you could eliminate certain circuits that need to be always on. Only about 3 or 4 circuits should be on switches like lights, accessories, headlights, engine. Small airplanes have a switch & circuit breaker for each circuit for safety. It's not a lot of switches (instrument panel doesn't look crowded). It sounds like you would want a battery disconnect switch inside the car, which is not uncommon. Also, there are certain switches that contain integral fuses. Cool. 8)
  18. I would put each 20 amp circuit on its own switch, with no relay, unless your switching more than 20 amps. Check the specs on the switch . They're probably for different functions any way. the starter button should be fine by itself; it's only function is to turn on the solenoid that connects the battery direct to the starter motor. Until now, your ignition switch did that fine on it's own, and has less than 20 amps current capability.
  19. As long as the ignition switch works well enough to turn on the power for the ignition, I think you are just fine. You could easily use a separate starter button to turn the engine over. Another button or switch for accessory items. I was considering doing the latter two things to increase the "cool" factor of my 280Z. I just like to have a key-operated switch for the mains power for security.
  20. Have you seen the shifter on the LS? I hear it's got an H-gate to it. thx
  21. If you go with a push-button starter, ewhat security features will you have? Are you planning on using the ign. switch to control the power? thx
  22. That what I mean! When the gauge points to Empty, it's supposed to be empty! 4 gallons is about 1/4 full.
  23. I think I will send him a letter and some pics. Maybe the warmer weather will be nicer for him.
