  1. I had a hose on the fuel rail split open on the way home after buying. I would recommend high-pressure for everything. Get about 4 feet to be safe. Maybe a few extra hose clamps, just in case. I replaced ALL the high pressure lines eventually, after a second split open and sprayed fuel EVERYWHERE. Good thing it wasn't on the exhaust side! Right: 6 injectors, fuel rail, feed & return lines.
  2. YOu might even consider one of those rust-conversion paints. I got some from Home Depot to use insider the car in the storage wells. Another tipe I've been using is to mix just a little liquid polyester resin in with the (polyester) bondo. Needs a little extra hardener too (try it first). That way I can spread it super-thin without it curling up. i suggest you prep the panel by sanding with 60-grit paper to the good metal(be careful!), then a thin coat of the thinned filler(bondo) sanding with medium, more thinned bondo to get the shape right, fmedium & fine sanding, then paint. More bondo is better than not enough, IMO. If you go with 'glass cloth, (model airplane) hobby stores should carry thin stuff (1/2oz to 1oz. weight) Maybe some body experts can confirm this or add more tips. You should be able to find this kind of info at a local library.
  3. the early ferrari's based the model # on the displacement of each cylinder, then later on they changed to the ototal displacement of the engine. Using that method, if you wqere to make a 250 GTO Z-car, you could actually call it a 467 (470?) GTO. 2800/6 = 466.67 fwiw
  4. I noticed a totally different look to this site a few days ago. Was there an upgrade or something? My bookmarks didn't work then, but now they do. Looks like it went back to normal.
  5. I likethe dinger in my Escort. It has a slow dinger for the key-in, and a faster one for the lights-on. The only thing I don't like about it it that it beeps, instead of dinging. Is it a dinghy?
  6. Well.... You'd have to locate the wiring diagram or your car- or at least the part for the dash. Then you could (reverse engineer) thing to figure out what wire does what. At least that's what I think.
  7. Hooking it up shouldn't be hard once you know which wire from the dinger does what. The tough thing is knowing what it looks like- different cars have different ones, and in different places.
  8. Does it tell you that somebody stole your tires too? LOL ROFL
  9. Dude, please edit your signature. As far as I remember, they never made a 208Z...
  10. I use the eclipse seats... They are kinda wide and no side support, but they work fine and have a very firm seat cusion.
  11. Maybe you could go to a local car dealer, or auto parts & ask. Maybe your insurance guy? Think of people who need to get access to info like that.
  12. I hope it's a newer car. Carfax only works for cars made new since about 1980 or 1982. I tried looking up the carfax on my 78 before I got it and found out there were no records for that year.
  13. Bastaad- The least you'll weed is just a socket/wrench to turn the bolts out. Or a hex wrench. The Eclipse seats just had 4 bolts. There might be wires, but the tools at the ends of your fingers should work on that. You didn't say what the width of the seats were! Or the width between the front bolts. We need to collect those 2 pieces of info. Maybe the length of the seat or the back height too. thx.
  14. Are there any seats with a short back that will fit? Ford Escort or MG would be an example, I'm sure there are many others, but will the mounts fit too? Maybe i'll try to swap my Escort seats in Spring. Many sport cars from the 60s had short seats, so I thought I give a look. I thought they would be easier to install and look a little sportier without all the height. My car is basic on the inside and I thought some short seats would go with the decor. thx. this is what I got now: Note: Last summer, I dropped by some car dealers to look at the shift lever handles for something better than the cheapo t-handle the Z car has, and they kicked me out! for just looking! The salesman didn't want anybody in there that wasn't interested in buying a new car. Maybe it was the old jeans & sneakers, T-shirt I was wearing. Gotta wear a sport jacket next time... Yeesh... We need to get a collection of seat dimensions, like width, so we can see what's narrow or wide, to suit personal preferences. I like narrow. So if you got seats or go to the JY, take your ruler! thx.
  15. I think it was nice of him to use his own money to bring a little humor to an otherwise boring place. All the other ads are trying to hype you into bidding, this guys just wanted to have a good laugh. I think there could have been a really good effect if he had thought things out to word the ad to really sound technical to make it seem like they were actual parts that would actually work! My bro once had a lady come into his auto parts store and ask for muffler bearings. One guy just wanted to buy one "len." Another wanted some "Freezone" because his air aint cool.
  16. Posterizing is when you print a "picture" on many sheets, like you said. Posterizing a picture depends on the kind of image you have. There is a difference between gif, jpg, wmf and the other kinds. WMF is the best kind for stretching, because it's a vector image; others just pixel images. Any LARGE image should work OK, tho. Some programs work better for some kinds of images. But there is free stuff you can get to print posters, unless you have PrintShop or other similar graphics software. Try to use a laser printer or a photographic print cartridge if you can, for fine lines. Can you tell us the source or format of the image? Acrobat, gif, jpg?
  17. That animated gif is pretty good, but do you know of anything that could make a web page so you could pan around using the mouse to click on buttons (left-right, up-down)? I think that's more like what I was thinking Maybe even zoom in. thx.
  18. What aboutthose 'miracle lubes' like Slick 50? I saw a new one the other day called "Prolong" where they dump dirt onto the crank of an upside-down engine? I dunno about you, but I rarely run my engine upside-down with the oil pan off.. "Miracle oils" in an engine with 100k+ miles?
  19. MTBE is what makes your gas really"smelly." All that other stuff like xylene, toluene, etc, is in there in minute to about 1% quantities except alcohols because they're some of the chemicals that make up gasoline. I assayed gasoline via G.C. for years.
  20. You could just glue the metal patch from the back with GOOP. just as strong as the epoxy, won't get brittle, and you don't have to clean to really good or sand/grind. Just clean the area with solvent/thinner, squeeze on some GOOP and slap the metal patch on there. A fiberglass patch would be even better than metal. Guaranteed not to rust. What would you use to close up the holes in the radiator support (near the bottom)? that's where it rusts reeeal easy. I was thinking a metal patcvh with a round hole in it for a rubber plug, just ion case you wanna get in there.
  21. Better yet, get yourself a copy of a poster-making program and blow it up BIG, like 2x3 sheets of lettter-size paper.
  22. Right now I still have the original braking system on there, but I thought I would upgrade instead of rebuilding the m.c.
  23. Maybe I can get my bud at the service place to swap/upgrade it for me. He doesn't mind if I supply the parts, maybe he'll get me a ZX M.C. for my 280Z. I gotta wait for spring first.
  24. When you upgrade the master brake cylinder in your 78 280Z, which master cylinder from a 280ZX should you use? Is there a difference? thx.
