Sounds like you may be ahead of the game if you yank the sound system and sell the car. Find a non auto Turbo that needs paint and interior. Get the car mechanically up to your wants/needs and then concentrate on aesthetics and entertainment. You are going to get beat up leaving a sound system that is worth more than the car. Non auto Turbo's can be found cheap, here is one example in Atlanta http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/968078129.html

There are several of us on this site who own JDM Z's. I have not seen many S30's anywhere for sale right now. There is one @ http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/8/1987012 .There is a S130 on e-Bay, they have been trying to sell for a while. The price has fluctuated a couple of grand in the last 3 months.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-280ZX-1979-Nissan-Datsun-280zx-RHD-JDM-Fairlady-240z-rare_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ002QQitemZ120350901959QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW There is a "Riced out" Z31 on CL in Vegas http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/965754153.html Good luck

I doubt it will sell, did he actually divulge his reserve or Buy price? "I easily have $50k invested in capital, not to mention the labor hours"

ArnZ replied to Bansheeboy11's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Clive I forgot that you are a 501© Non Profit Organization. I want something for free and free shipping! Jokes aside, If there is a Z to be had in your price range, Clive either has it, or knows where it is at! -
Anybody seen this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=350140572675&ih=022&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=

Watch out Clive's finders fees are HIGH! -
I have really never really cared for the Z31, I have owned my 75 Fairlady Z since 83 and been stuck in the S30 mode. But I am really appreciating this car more each day. I really wish Hybrid had a more active Z31 section, I just can't deal with the idiots bashing, trash talking and general immaturity that exists in the other forums out there. I plan fixing the clutch issue and gutting the interior for steam/pressure washing this weekend.

"> I got the car home yesterday. I put some gas in it, fresh battery and it started right up. Has a little valve tick but I have not checked the oil. It's going to need a radiator, exhaust and tires. I could not drive it because the clutch pedal falls to the floor, so I will need to address that. Everything works, lights, windows, locks, turn signals, heater/fan, radio, antenna, power mirrors. Interior is filthy but is all original even floor mats.

PM sent, I am in your neighborhood, Cumming/Dawsonville

">">I am now officially in the Z31 club. I just bought a 84 Turbo with 160K that runs for $800. The car has four rust spots on the body (surface), and no rust anywhere else. It needs a radiator, master or slave cylinder for the clutch. AC doesn't work. All original never been wrecked, original radio, seats are good, dash is cracked, needs a headliner. I think I did good, it's a Z to drive until my Fairlady is finished. I will tow it home tomorrow and get some pictures posted. I only have what the owner took. Arnie

Time to move!

I have a chance to pick up #439. 190K miles, no compression on one cylinder not sure about drivetrain. Hood, hatch and cowl shot, passenger floorboard next to the rocker has issues, rockers have some issues, rails are good. Interior pretty rough but complete, bad dash, seats redone (non-leather). Battery tray is good, looks unmolested with original paint but car has been neglected for some time. I can get this car for about $600.00. I really don't need another project, but thing is like a stray dog that needs a good home. I guess I need someone to talk me into saving it. I will look at it again tomorrow and get some better pics.

does anyone have some flattop l28 pistons?
ArnZ replied to 240z!!!'s topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I have 5 that I pulled from a turbo, I think they are good I will need to find them out and check. I believe the rods are still attatched. You can have them if you need them just pay shipping from Atlanta. I will find them and get some pics if interested. -
So it is open, I do not know why I thought it wasn't.

I have read that any 300 zx built prior to 4/87 will be VLSD. Is this 100% true? I found a parts car with the diff and axles that I am planning to pull tomorrow. I guess I will need to pull the cover off to verify?

kiwi303, come off of those perfect RHD dashes and retire early As far as a S 30 RHD conversion... it just isn't feasible. Lets say you have a dash ( I have two cracked ones for sale) try to find a interior blower motor and squirel cage! Supposedly the stock LHD rack and pinion can be "flipped" and utilized ?If not $$$ You will need a battery tray,(unless relocating the battery elsewhere) cowl, windshield wiper assembly (to truly have a RHD clone) not cheap to obtain. There are other issues beyond these to contend with. You may want to condsider another platform, 240SX, Z32, ect. These "JDM" clips are abundant and are relatively "inexpesive" . RHD S 30s(Fairlady Z) show up on E-Bay either as basket cases or very expensive.

I just noticed this ad in H town car is completly stripped, looks like some decent parts. http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/858657473.html

I think the mystery component is a motion sensor for a old school alarm.

You might want to check that the "dimmer" wire for the factory radio is not grounded. Some dimmers will act as a ground until the lights are turned on.
