I agree w/the history part.It was interesting. The rest was an absolute joke. They both put a new cam, springs, header, and holly 4bbl setup on the cars.I did'nt notice them to be automatics though...just me i guess...I remember one guy stalling badly off the line in one race.I guess thats why I thought they were stick cars. The most piss poor driving I have ever seen.hell, they had john morton there, they should have just let him make a couple of passes.pretty decent cars overall though.Wonder where they got em?

OK,I can top that.I was at a crowded bar a couple of years ago(ok 15 years). The crowd was very heavy.I turned around from the group I'm talking to to light up a smoke and behind me is a girl with long bushy blond hair and a real fuzzy sweater with her back to me.Evidently she has poured on the hairspray cause when I flicked my bic,a small blue flame crawled up her sweater and into her hair.I FREAKED OUT and quickly patted her on the back to put out the flame, she spun around and asked what I was doing? I said I thought she was someone else but the smell of burning hair was everywhere. She never figured out what happened but man could that have gone COMPLETELY wrong!! I was a wreck after that, talk about a buzzkill.

I too have a vh45 sitting in the floor. I am am interested in getting it bolted into a 240z that I have also.I tend to try and get everything together before I jump into a project like this so please keep me informed if you make some adapter plates.I have yet to decide on NA with nitrous or boosting but I do think the factory intake is BUTT ugly, however well it works and am leaning toward a custom fabbed intake or possibly twm throttle bodys or something similar.Obviously gonna need exhaust manifolds/headers also so I am interested in ANY parts availability. Please let me know of your progress,I will be watching closely.

Did everyone forget Brodys car at the last Hybrid shootout?I have plenty of pics if you need to see 'em.Matter of fact,I think he still has the supercharger setup for sale as we speak, going to a single turbo now...It can obviously be done, however he did put a little hump in the hood.I posted a pic in the hybrid z section in the albums. Can never seem to get a pic in a post

Edelbrock Pro Flow anybody running it?
quicker240 replied to dsommer's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I have it on my 408.Hav'nt had any problems.Pretty easy to setup and instructions are clear and easy to read. The kit has everything you need for an older style SBC w/HEI,but I'm not sure how it would hook in to an LT1 distributor if its the cam driven setup, but I'm sure they have it covered in the book somewhere. My only complaint is that the tuning map is pretty small. Also no provision for a wideband O2 sensor .I had to fabricate a nitrous plate as the intake opening is not a standard size.28 lb injectors are good to 500 hp or so.And I have tapped the fuel log directly for nitrous/fuel enrichment, kinda handy for a simple system.Been thinking of maybe going to a Megasquirt down the road for the better map capability and also nitrous control. For the money, the proflo is hard to beat. The ecu has three memory sets so you can store profiles for economy and performance. Also has closed loop available, just turn it on and it pretty much runs itself. -
OK ,I think its changed to public viewing now,see if you can get 'em up...

The price of O scopes has dropped considerably over the last few years.Might Check your Local Mac Tool guy if you're in the market. We have the ET2010 scope on clearance for under 300 bucks.Vantage is a good piece, just way overpriced.

I got some new software for coverting analog tape video to digital format.Video is from import shootout in Montgomery a few weeks ago. Was'nt sure how to attach it to this post but I did manage to get it uploaded to the picture/video gallery. Not much of a kill, but it was fun anyway....

May be jumping to conclusions a little bit as the symptom you described could be attributed to any number of things. But a quick inspection of the float chamber on both carbs is quick and easy.check that your floats hav'nt sank and the shut off valve is properly adjusted (about 14mm as I recall).Change the damper oil and check for smooth movement of the big pistons by pushing them up with your finger and releasing it.if all is well, you might have another problem(points,a bad plug wire, worn dist cap or rotor, etc, etc).these carbs are pretty sturdy and temp changes dont usually cause the kind of problems you are seeing.Good luck with it!

Not to disagree with everyone, but it is sooo easy to spend WAY more than this amount of money on a car with these kinds of parts.Hell,a good chevy road race motor with all the goodies can cost more than that.tube chassis,wilwoods,16 custom wheels, paint ,flares, tires, gauges, fuel cell, pumps, metal fab, race seat, etc, etc, etc. Not that I want to buy it personally, but these are not as crazy numbers as some are making them out to be....

any tool truck(I run a Mac tool truck),Can get you an individual tap or die for this.Takes about a week to get it.There are also on the car press tools available that would work without removing the whole assembly. That being said,I did mine with a 12 lb. slide hammer without any problems, but the bearings have come apart doing them with a slidehammer in the past.Pressing them out is the best method, either on the car using a bearing press(commonly called a "hub shark")or off the car with a shop press.Good luck! -
I am interested in drifting also.I already have the arizona setup on my car and even with 250lb springs it is pretty stiff.I too have many years of autocrossing experience and I can very much see how the setups would be similar. If you have no experience drifting(which I dont),I would recommend some autocrossing to you.Get a feel for having the car crossed up a bit in a controlled environment, then make some spring and suspension choices based on what you learn there.I dont think you'll get flamed here for having an interest in this new venue. It looks like damn big fun to me,if not a bit expensive for tires that I'm guessing wont last very long.I from experience would think 300-350 lb spring rates would be more than adequate,as well as an adjustable rear sway bar setup. How much slip the rear tires give will also be a determining factor.Dont get hung up on the numbers just because someone else is using them. You will find that your taste is your own.

I live by some advise I got from a friend once upon a time,"Theres no such thing as the perfect woman, you just have to find one with an amount of crazy you can live with".Best advise I ever got! Nobody is perfect, you or her.Just try to make the best choice you can based on the info at hand.If you really love her then no effort is too great or expense too high, but if you are unsure in ANY way, suck it up and move on.Free advice is worth what you paid for it.Best of luck, you're gonna need it!

ah yes,and lets not forget the Mitsu 4G63.I have one in a galant vr4 but they are a dime a dozen in lasers, eagle talons, plymouths etc.make about 200 hp stock and have huge aftermarket support.I think it would make for quite a nasty Z car if pushed with bigger cams and huffer.
