  1. I saw those this morning. Was just dreamin' no one else would notice.Oh well,he wont ship 'em anyway.Let the bidding begin!!
  2. I have factory shop manuals for all the early Z's.I could scan them for you.
  3. just use or borrow a coolant pressure tester.put some pressure on it and spot the leak. There are a couple of small coolant hoses up there for the thermal air bypass valve on the injected cars as I recall.Kind of a pain to get to because of the fuel lines and probably old and dryrotted. My guess is its your leak.good luck.
  4. Dont you think if it was that good of a deal, someone in NY would already have snatched it up?1/2 price?and its still there? This deal has SCAM plastered all over it.Send him a picture of you with the cash in your hand.Tell him to deliver the car and pick up the cash.Simple.You'll never hear from him again.
  5. Might want to get in touch with the Georgia Z club. Its a big group.Try to find a factory shop manual or borrow one. They have been going for 50 to 75 bucks on Ebay.Best money you can spend.Stay with the basics to start with as they are usually the culprit.Look at all the basic adjustments and obvious problems.vacuum leaks, stuck levers, rotten hoses, bad gas, fouled plugs, stuck injectors, stopped up filters, the usual junk. The datsun injection system is pretty basic and the engine is easy to work on so dont give up at the 1st problem. Its a 30 year old car thats been sitting so a bit of work is gonna be involved getting it back in order. And dont believe anything a previous owner tells you till you check it yourself.Good luck!
  6. Thinking of going megasquirt soon.Getting that wiring and programming in the ballpark will be a great asset.Keep up the great info
  7. You guys in Texas have the biggest Z club in the country.Surely someone there has the Arizona setup on their car.Line up a test fit.Its the only SURE way to answer your question....By the way,I have the AZ setup on my car,and am in the middle of test fitting some 15in wheels for slicks(I have 17"street tires) , I'll let you know how it comes out.
  8. This project is quite interesting.Just a thought here.Maybe connecting the passages is not the answer.Diesel engine cyl. heads are sectioned just like this head(s) is.Provided oil comes up through the passageways in the block AND exits out the other side BACK into the block, the same applies to the water passages. The answer may be to plug up selected passages while providing a circulation route for oil and coolant. The sections could be aligned with dowel pins to facilitate camshaft alignment. This part would be the tricky one but a solution more easily found than welding nonaccessable passageways between the sections. In other words, each section recieves oil and coolant from the block. Some mapping of oil and coolant flow will be necessary but I doubt difficult.Thoughts here anyone?
  9. its on my watch list, what do you think the going rate is lately?
  10. I think your issue may stem from another source.Theres a pedal in the footwell that if you push way far down on a regular basis, will cause a multitude of problems.Rapid tire wear, poor gas mileage, elevated repair costs, all of which tend to cause lightening of the wallet. The GNZ or the L28ET,as well as the 355sbc w/700r4 all will give similar problems.I reccomend a stiff diet of boring driving habits.By far the cheapest way to arrive at your mileage goals.
  11. Yes ,you leave the original cylinder in there and attach the power lock actuator to the push/pull rod inside the door. Its very easy to install power door locks on a Z,and its nice as hell to walk up to your car, push the remote button and just get in.practically every alarm on the market has power door lock feature available. If anyone needs details or pictures, let me know and I'll yank the panels and get you a couple of shots.
  12. The world sure is complicated.Amazing to me how many truly stupid individuals are in places of power, and how for granted we take the opportunity and priviledge of putting them there.I for one believe in an even more basic rhetoric than has been posted here so far.A good thing I am not in a position of authority because I believe in the "swordfish" mentality(from the movie)."You kill one of mine,We kill a thousand of yours. It would immediately be unconscionable(sp?) to attack the United States".The simple fact is that we ARE the most powerful country in the world and the rest of the world is damn lucky we have the amount of restriant we do.Our military is completely capable of DISECTING the middle east in short order ,if we were to untie their hands. When the bleeding heart liberals figure out that no matter how nice they are to these people, their only goal in life is to cut their throats, then things will change. The simple truth is that we need the oil and they have it.Until that statement is untrue, our ultimate occupation and ownership of it is enevitable, and to believe that with technology and communication of information where it is now, that we can keep nuclear technology to ourselves is just burying our heads in the sand.Inevitable is the fact that some psycho with a computer and internet access is gonna build a device at some point and detonate it here.We as HUMANS need to figure out pretty soon one of two things.Cohabitation,or obliteration. We either get along,or the baddest cat in the jungle will be the only one left, and natural history says it most likely will be the baddest cat.....
  13. Sounds like the temp sending unit wire is grounded.Try unplugging it from the sending unit(single wire sensor on the front side of the thermostat housing) and see what happens. If it goes all the way back down, you probably need a new sending unit.Make sure everything is clean when you reassemble it.Spec for testing the sending unit in a pot of water is in the shop manual.Pretty easy if you have a DVOM.Good luck!
  14. That is a seriously nice car.Somebody ought to get serious about buying it.Cost at least 4 times the current price to build. It will be interesting to see where the price goes.I have no doubt it will bring some good money.
  15. I am happy to see all the progress so many have made on the diff upgrades.I am also anxious to see how the q45 r200 holds up as compared to the r230 on hard launches some of your cars are capable of.Personally I hope the VLSD r200 makes the grade as I have one in the floor and a line on a 2nd one as a spare. Also curious about the Quaife but I think the weak point on it would be broken teeth on the ring gear or pinion gear before carrier had a problem.Good news that Ross's axles fit either app. .I'd love to see the Independent rear Nissan pieces perform reliably and comparibly to the vette and straight axle versions some have had success with, without the astronomical expense. Not that I'm a cheap a**,but I've bought whole cars, nice whole cars, for the same amount of money this upgrade is gonna cost.Time to get into the piggy bank again I guess, boy,my wife is just gonna LOVE this one...
  16. better not let my wife see that...looks like a real handful pal.great vids and great car.
  17. I plan on buying some stuff if you have it there also,so bring plenty of stock!
  18. Kickin' somebodys a** in a bar is likely to get you shot an hour later as you walk to your car nowadays. While I appreciate the dicipline and respect the skills very much,a smith and wesson beats 4 aces every time. The days of settleing differences with the fists are long gone.Nobody ever wins a fight, its only who loses the most....
  19. I agree w/Mike on this one.As an old autocrosser,I got served up a big slice of humble pie on more than a couple of occasions, and I was pretty well experienced.I usually won my class against some pretty hot cars as the Z is classed with some fancy hardware in the SCCA.Occasionally a pro driver would quietly show up at a local event.A guy showed up one time and spanked my pretty heavily modded 280z with a STOCK S-10 pickup truck with good tires. And I dont mean just a little bit either,he spanked my best time hard.So dont get too cocky out there guys or somebody will hand you a "slice of pie".
  20. best 60' w/nitto drag radials around 1.7 sec. . I have not run a full 1/4 since upping the nitrous to 100hp shot but did some 7.40 1/8 passes a while back.Traction on launch is sporatic for me with the open diff. Track conditions make all the difference.I currently have the spray on a 3k rpm window switch to keep from spinning so bad on take off but it tends to get squirrely when it hits 2nd gear.I'd like Scotty or another experienced drag racer to make a couple of passes and get a 2nd opinion on the best setup, shift points, launch RPM etc, etc,as I have little experience. But I learn fast and listen well.I picked up 3/10ths from 75 to 100 shot.11.8 to 11.50,any guesses at a 150hp shot from the experts? Would love to see 10.999 on one leg!
  21. I love the part about"never been run"....except when I blew it up.That "13 hour knifeedged balanced steel crank" with no knifeedges ,and a casting mark, and a huge balancer. What a hoot. The block however,is a 4 bolt and judging by the pics, has been clearanced for a long stroke.Repaired it correctly would net a nice base for an extremely streetable and quite a nasty little engine combo.Big cubes mean power and torque without severe strain on components.I did not see the lifters in any of the pics,so was it truly a full roller setup? Just the components you got, even with the damage, are worth more than you paid by far.Roller rockers, roller cam, roller lifters, good heads with large valves, intake, carb etc, etc.Any refund just sweetens the deal but I would definately keep the stuff.Just my .02 cents worth
  22. I just finished doing my whole car with Dynamat extreme.I did inside the doors, firewall, floor, hatch, inside rear fenders.Did the firewall when the dash was out last time.Finished the rest last week since I had it all out for a BIG stereo, amp, speaker upgrade.I have to say it made a HUGE difference. The doors shut with a nice "chup" now instead of the usual rocks in a beer can sound, and road noise and resonance is way,WAY down.I spent a little over 300 bucks but feel it was money well spent.Stuff is pretty heavy but, what the hell, car sure is more civilized.
  23. I'd sell my children for a 87-89 posi. right now.I cant seem to find one anywhere, and I'm pretty good at finding stuff like that...
  24. Glad your kids fared well.Anybody have crash data on Z's? I love my car but have always felt like if I'm in a moderate wreck,I'm dead meat!
