  1. Hey maybe your next mod should be a CD player! LOL It's the 2000's not the 80's! Just kidding! Yeah those switches look Saaweeeett! Looks like race car stuff! Guy
  2. Ok heres the updated list... New... *Crane Hydraulic Rolller Lifters *LT4 Cam Kit(springs, cam, retainers, 1.6 RR) *Gasket set for top end(valve cover, intake heads, timing chain cover, vaper line gaskets, and a couple others) *Bosch 36lb injectors *Holley 58mm TB *Heads are being P&P'ed by Jeff Odno of Ondo Performance and he is also doing the valve job and new valves *Center Force Dual Fricion clutch and throw out bearing *Comp Cams chromolly push rods *Cloyes Double Roller Timing set(Thanks for teh help on this one Mudge! ) *CSI Electric Water Pump *162 Bolt Set from MS Fastners on Flatlander Racings website(basically a complete engine bolt set) *Updated Optispark to 95+ with updated timing cover Here's what I'm reusing... *Flywheel resurfaced if possible Here's what I think/know I need *New pistons & rings(Hypers but what brand??? I think I'm going to go with about 10.5:1 - 11:1, some where in there) *New main, rod, cam bearings Some gaskets that I know I dont have yet *Fluid dampner *Freeze Plugs *Thermostat... Should I get the 160degree one or a stock one??? Now here's my questions... What connecting rods do I have in there right now as a stock engine? Are they the "pink" rods or the "PM" rods? I thought they started to use the PM rods in the Corvettes in like 94' or 95'? So that's why I think I still have the "pink" rods? Does anybody know??? I am going to reuse them if they are the PM's but if not then I am going to get some new PM rods from Pace Performance for $242.00. Here's my other question...Is the LT1 oil pump the same as any other late model oil pump? Or is it specail too! Just cause it says LT1 on it they seem to think they can charge twice as much! Bastards! LOL I should have expected it though Anyways can someone direct me to a good oil pump? Also do you have to buy the pick up screen, tube and drive gears all seperate or do they come with the pump? Sorry for such a long post but this is my first rebuild! Thanks again, Guy
  3. Well I would think with an automatic it wouldn't be as hard on the rear end as a manual tranny because you aren't dumping the clutch! I am using the same set up for my car(3.55/3000lbs/400HP) and using a T56 manual tranny and I think it should hold up just fine. By the way you should really post this in the drivetrain section. Guy
  4. I was just going to ask this question! So since I am only driving my car in the summer months I should go with the 80W-90? Also should I use syntheic or normal oil? Guy
  5. Ok but no one has explained how I can use a regular SBC double roller timing chain on a LT1? What about that pin sticking out of the cam? What is that for? Thanks, Guy
  6. Well should I run something like 10.8:1 then or even 10.5:1? Also if I just bought the crane cam would it be too big for the rest of the LT4 Cam kit? Another words would I have springs binding with the LT4 Springs and the Crane Cam? Thanks, Guy
  7. Ok what the hell is going on here? $99,999,999.00! Yeah right! This must be a joke! Guy
  8. Ok, I thought that the LT1 engines with the new cams had that pin that goes into the cam gear though that's why I am asking about the gears. Do regular SBC have that hole? As for driving a LT4 hotcam'ed car no I haven't driven one. I have driven a LS1 powered Camaro and Firebird though. I am deffinetly buying a LS1 Camaro SS in the future! Love the sound of those reving up! Both of those cars were donated to my school(Fox Valley Technical College of Appleton Wisconsin) Though I havent driven at high speeds with either of them I can deffinetly tell that they have some NUTS! We took the exhaust off the Camaro last week and ran in off the exhaust manifolds and what a sweet sound that was!! Gotta love open exhaust like that! Thanks, Guy
  9. Ok I answered my own question about the LT4 knock module...No I can't update that with the 93 computer. Ok, Now Mudge you said I can go with a double roller timing chain for a regular small block right? So would I just use the double roller chain and then reuse original gears? I was looking through the Summit catalog and I found one... Cloyes CLO-9-3100 $67.95 <----Is this what you are reffering to? As for the water pump. I was thinking of using either the CSI electric pump(30 GPM) or the Meziere electric water pump. The Meziere(35 GPM) says that there is no modififcaton needed to put this in the LT1 water pump housing. Is this the same for the CSI? I want to do anything I can to free up HP that is already there but being robbed by something, in this case the water pump! Thanks, Guy
  10. I think Geirmann is running those on his 280ZX! Maybe he will chime in here and give an opinion on them. From what I have heard they are a very nice tire. I was thinking of getting them for my 17x7's! Guy
  11. Well most guys are saying that the 11:1 compression that I want to run is too high for what I have as a set up!? So what should I run? Here's what I have for a set up... *93 LT1 .030 over 355cid *LT4 "HOTCAM" kit(and yes I know that the hotcam is not a big cam!) *58mm Holley TB *Updated Optispark to 95+ vented style *58cc Stock Heads that are being Ported & Polish by Jeff Ondo of Ondo Performance(http://www.ondoperformance.com/) and the intake runners are also being enlarged. I don't have any flow numbers though. *Bosch 36lbs injectors *Computer Tuning will be done by Street & Performance unless anyone can recommend someone better! I am running a Speed Density system not MAF I am looking to get about 400HP at the crank with this set up. Can it be done? What should I run for compression to get me to 400HP? Also can someone run this on Desktop Dyno for me? Thanks, Guy
  12. Never mind I found them at Fleet Farm! Grade 5 nut in 9/16 but I can remember what the thread pitch was. It wasn't there normal hardware though it was off in some organized nut box type thing!? I am officially done with my R200/CV swap! What a PITA! But I think it's going to be worth it in the end! Anyways thanks for all the help the past 2 weeks! Guy
  13. Ok does anybody know what size the nuts are on the differental cover that bolt to the mount? They are deffinetly not as small as the R180 nuts! Thanks Guy
  14. Hey I guess I'm the guy your looking for?! LOL I am using the MSA motor mounts but not the tranny mount because I am using a T56 manual transmission. The 700R mount that comes with the kit wont work for me but if you go with the 700R I think that the mount they supply is very nice. As for the motor mounts...if you have any fabrication skills I would recommend making these. All you would need is some square tubing and some flat stock and you could make them. I wish I had! I think I could have found something else to spend the $225! However if you dont have access to a welder and some kind of metal cutting tools then buy the kit. It is very nice just over priced in my opinion! Click on my link below for my website and give it a look. Right now I am finishing up my R200/CV swap! Can't wait till this is over. Tonight I dropped the R200 on my chest! Yeah that kinda hurt! Don't worry though it only fell from the mounting position to my chest(like 10") but it still hurt! Anyways hope you have fun with your conversion I know I am! Guy
  15. Can I update to the LT4 knock module on a 93 computer? I thought it had to be 96+? Maybe not? The LT4 runs 10.8:1 if I recal correctly so I would like to think that 11:1 is ok with the proper tuning?! I am going to have Street & Performance burn me a new chip to put in it. From what I have heard they seem to know the most about the LT1/LT4 set ups. Guy
  16. Any chance these would fit on a 280zx with a 350? I have about a 2" clearance between the center ports on the head and the gear box on the drivers side! I really want some headers but nothing fits and I really dont want to pay the $400 per side to get custom! Thanks, Guy
  17. Ok enough said oil pump for sure! I don't know what I was thinking? Well the reason I don't know which piston to use is because I heard from some guys that if I have any detonation problems it could crack or break the piston if it is a hyper and not a forged??? As for the timing chain set...I haven't bought it yet so that option is still open. Pace Performance sells the kit for $242. How much compression should I run with my set up? My HP Goal is between 400-450 at the crank. Thanks, Guy
  18. Yeah I forgot about putting down the freeze plugs and thermostat! I was going to put those down though. Well I can reuse the water pump and oil pump can't I or should I really replace the oil pump for sure? I might go to an electric water pump later so I don't want waste any money on a new OE water pump! And yes me and the credit card companies have an understanding...they give me money now and I pay them interst now and later! LOL What can I say I really want a nice car that I built my self! Guy
  19. Not a big fan of the import trucks but that sounds like a pretty nice package! Guy
  20. I going to be rebuilding my engine(93 LT1) in about 2 1/2 weeks and I was wondering if I am forgeting any thing? Heres what I have so far... New...Hydraulic Rolller Lifters, LT4 Cam Kit(springs, cam, retainers, 1.6 RR), Extreme Duty timing chain kit(gears and chain), Gasket set for top end(valve cover, intake heads, timing chain cover, vaper line gaskets, and a couple others), Bosch 36lb injectors,Holley 58mm TB, Heads are being P&P'ed by Jeff Odno of Ondo Performance and he is also doing the valve job and new valves, Center Force Dual Fricion clutch and throw out bearing, chromolly push rods Here's what I'm reusing... PM rods with new nuts, flywheel resurfaced if possible Here's what I think/know I need... New pistons & rings(need help in this department cause I want to go about 11:1 or maybe a little higher compression ratio, but I dont know if I should use forged or hypers???), new main, rod, cam bearings, and some gaskets that I know I dont have yet, new fluid dampner Am I missing anything here? Please I am open to opinion on my set up here! Thanks, Guy
  21. Well I would have been done by now but I have a couple of questions! Ok here's the deal... I have all the gauges in and the lights and ground wires hooked up. Just need for trim pieces to get here so I can put dash back in! My question is where should I hook up my +12V Ignition voltage to? I need to put about 4 or 5 wires to this? How can I tell what wires are +12V ignition wires? I would image hook up a volt meter and turn the ignition off and on and if it reads on and not off then I can hook it up there!? I do not want to overload any wires in the process though so is there some place in the engine bay that I can run these to? Also for my electronic speedometer I have to hook it up to my vss. Now for my LT1 I have a VSS signal wire and a VSS ground wire. Should I ground the VSS ground wire and just run the VSS Sig wire to the speedo or something else. Here's the pic of the directions... The pic was here but it was just too big so I took it down! Sorry the pic is so big! Thanks, Guy
  22. Well you gotta figure for $55 you aren't going to get the best headers. I ordered some headers that were chromed for $85 and when I got them they were not exactly as nice as the picture showed! They were kinda rusty and the welds were very poor. However if you are just looking for a cheap set then I say go for it! Guy
  23. "CV" or "constant velocity"(sp?) joints serve the same purpose as the u-joint half shafts. Half shafts are the things that stick out the sides of the differental that turn the wheels. If you plan on running a high power Z then you got the right differental. However you will need to get stub axles, compangion flages, and the actual CV joints to complete the conversion. This conversion has been outlined many times in the drivetrain section. I dont know what rear end set up you have now but the half shafts probably will not work if they are not CV's, because the CV half shafts just "snap" into the R200 you have. Guy
  24. I don't know much about turbos but I know that I was thinking of getting a aluminum flywheel for my LT1 and T56 set up and I was told that the lightend flywheel wasn't good for drag racing because they dont hold up as well as a steel one for that kind of application. I don't know what you plan to use your turbo set up for though? Guy
