  1. Good call on the second set of bungs. Add that to the list of things not done.
  2. Helping a buddy with his turd gen f body right now, will shoot some pics later. Man that engine compartment is big
  3. I ended up putting them about 6" back from the end of the primary. I didn't have much choice but to put them horizontal inboard toward the trans
  4. Its cool though I can get each motor mount unbolted in like an hour flat! Lol
  5. Yeah dom I have to pull the engine to remove the headers and have to unbolt the headers to fit the starter in. Good times
  6. I got real scientific with it and put them where the collectors merge, mostly because that's as far forward as my drill and hole saw would fit
  7. I knew I should have taken physics in high school! They probably had a whole section on mixing variables of hot expanding gasses. Lol
  8. Do you think that would give an average reading of all 4 cylinders per side?
  9. Does anyone have any thoughts on O2 sensor placement for longtube headers? I've heard 4 times the primary diameter is a good rule of thumb.
  10. Between the 40 year old seam sealer, paint, rust and tin can like metal thickness learning to weld on a car is probably not the best place to start . I imagine the engineers that designed these chassis would probably faint if they saw what some of you guys are putting their babies through! I used 1.5x2.5x11ga tube to replace the 'frame rails' from the t/c buckets to the rear sub and clad the rockers with 16ga and I was worried about excessive flex and I only plan on putting around town, probably with a test and tune night at IRP here or there. Its comforting to hear that you have put your car through a fair amount abuse and are just starting to have problems. I'm surprised Matt hasen't suggested going turbo so you could launch easier and catch 'em on the big end!
  11. It sounds like its time to buy a welder and take some classes!
  12. I can say that because I'm not a native. Load your Z in that thing and bring it up. We'll build your headers by day and run over stuff at night.
  13. I was just kidding, that sucks. I'm always missing something. There needs to be a store that has everything I need in stock open 24/7
  14. Getting there Matt, why are you online when your engine is out? Yeah Dom it was kinda like squeezing my first boob
  15. It fired! I still need to finish my fuel lines but have power to the pump. I shot a little gas in the TB and gave it a crank and it took off. Hell yeah!
  16. Nothing to it just to do it! With a lot of coffee and a little luck I may make some noise tomorrow. I hope my neighbors like the open headers!
  17. Got my LS harness stripped yesterday morning and started to install it. I mounted the ECM by hanging the factory holder from the inside of the cowl with some 16ga strips that I tacked in. I had to take the white plastic Dat connector bracket off to give me enough room I may mod it some and reuse it if I can If not I'll just secure the factory harness with wire ties. It took about 45 minutes to hook up my starter and crank position connector. My Bussmann micro fuse/relay came in and I started assembling it. I got the bussed model and it made wiring a little easier. I would highly recommend the bussmann and will be using it again. I finished assembling the fuses and relays and got the mains and starter control wired in. I carefully hooked up the battery and tried the starter, I could hear the relays pulling but nothing happened. I haden't hooked up the relay ground buss! I did that and tried again and the motor turned over, that felt pretty good. I'm gonna fire up the coffee pot and get the ecm wired to the dat fuses for the on/run power and the coil feed. I have to ire the fuel pump and finish a little fuel piping and I may be ready to make some noise tomorrow. Oh I may have to clean up the wiring a little ( see pic below)/ 2013-08-03_16-59-50_455.pdf
  18. I have one that has some surface rust but no holes/soft spots. Out of a 75. I will be in Jacksonville at the end of the month.
  19. Thanks dom. Threw on my acc drive and a couple other little bits and then started wiring. I should get it to crank tomorrow, hopefully nothing catches on fire!
