  1. My take on mail order tunes is that a respected experienced tuner should have a large database on commonly used upgrade combinations. With that being said if you have an f body or vette you can probably fill out the form, send it in and be pretty close. Our cars on the other hand usually have custom/homemade fuel systems, cais and exhausts so I can't help but think we would be leaving some power and drivability on the table with a mail order tune. I'm as cheap as the day is long but I plan on having a dyno tune after I do my heads and cam. There is a dyno tuner in town that charges $450. I think that extra $250 will be money well spent.
  2. If you don't get an answer here someone on LS1tech can probably give you some guidance.
  3. Hate to say it but it looks like Matt is right. A bunch of magazine tests show mid 12s with no mods.
  4. I saw this joker on my way to work this morning, looked and sounded stock. I wish I had my car on the road!
  5. Been building but not posting to this thread that much. Got my headers finished and engine back in, hopefully the last time for a little bit. Mounted my radiator and built a fan shroud. I have a little cleanup to do and it will be ready to mount.
  6. Looks good slow, thats what I had in mind. Can you get to them? I think I have to edit my previous. I think it should be alt, starter, battery and then fuses to the blocks. Does that sound a little better?
  7. That was sincere bro. I WAS going to wait to go CV until started breaking stock axles, you just sped things up and saved me some brake lines!
  8. I had an essentially free 4l60 that came with my LS but I just couldn't bring myself to put it in. I'm sure I made the right choice.
  9. Patience is definitely a virtue when looking for parts. I was about to drop $1400 on a pullout of questionable quality when the one I got came up. 2500mi rebuild with B&M shifter, LS7 clutch and fly new in the box, f body crossmember and AL driveshaft (still for sale) and hydraulics (sold) all for that pimp roll pictured above. I keep looking to see if I could have done better and nothing has come up yet. I'm at the 'death by a thousand cuts' phase of mine, it seems like everytime I turn around it's 100 here 300 there (thanks Matt!). Just got to remember that we're going to end up with cars we built that will perform well against 60k + cars and look good doing it.
  10. I was going to say that a three pound hammer took care of any fitting issues I had. There wasn't much conflict but I think I have my engine set back a little farther than the JCI guys.
  11. Decent looking 76 280 project on craigslist in Columbus OH $2000 or best I would have been interested in it a year ago I don't know the guy and haven't seen the car in person I couldn't figure out how to post a link to the ad
  12. If I was local I would have been there already, with cash stashed somewhere else!
  13. Are the ignition and door locks keyed the same? I never tried them
  14. I have a good gas tank and excellent vapor tank. The gas tank MAY be spoken for should know next week. PM me if interested
  15. If az didn't work out, pm me. In Indiana, shipping would be less
  16. I have a decent set from a 75 you can have them for the cost of shipping
  17. I have some 280 emblems, I can send you some pics this weekend
  18. Sunny I have door locks I'm going to shave if you want them. I'll probably hold onto the hatch unless I can figure out how to shave it too.
  19. I have one for the taking. I'll be in South Bend, IN this weekend if you want to come get it.
  20. = I was just going through some old pictures and thought this was funny. What is not so funny is those were not all $20s!
  21. It has an o-ring seal so its not an interferance fit. And it should have plenty of oil on it! It seems like a pretty tough polycarbonite.
  22. Good buy! Looks like you did your homework better than me!
  23. Oh nice let me fight through mine and then someone makes them for under a grand! Just kidding it wasn't that bad. Why don't you guys load your cars on a trailer, bring them up to Indiana and I'll help you build some. By help I mean I'll sit on a lawn chair and drink beer and tell you what your doing wrong! Cheechq that oil level plug is only about 1/2" tall, that frees up a little space and its aluminum so it shouldn't melt.
