  1. That was the shocking thing about this car, there was a little bit of filler on the roof and I popped that dent with a torch. The rest of is clear. There is plenty of rust but no filler!
  2. It's really not bad at all, I was expecting more. I think the flat paint will hide some of it. What filler do you pros like?
  3. I ended up grinding about 3/16" off the passengers side stub axle to clear the cv but yeah they have worked out for sure. Rear valance looks pretty good, I have a few little lumps im going to try a shrinking disc on but a little hammer work and filler will take care of it if the disc doesn't. I'm going to start looking on CL for a two post lift. I definitely feel it the next morning after scooting around on the floor for 6the hrs!
  4. Been busy but havent updated for quite a while. Getting close to at least a neighborhood cruse, hopefully this week. The magnaflows are quieter than I expected. I will have to rev higher! Crappy cell pic below but Ill shoot some more tomorrow.
  5. I have an Autometer universal sending unit but its in a fabricated fuel cell... The one I have has a 5 bolt flange instead of the lock ring. I did notice that the Dat sender in my factory tank looked pretty much the same size as the one in my old Chevy, I bet you could find a cheap domestic sender that could be made to work. Check the ohms to make sure it matches the Dat gauge and modify the sender as needed. When I had my factory tank for sale on CL a couple guys called about the sender alone. I know you would be a hero to some if you figured out a cheap sender option.
  6. Matt doesn't mention that he works at a hot rod shop so he's got a little advantage over us regular guys!
  7. Namor, in my car I'm using aluminized carbon steel tube and bends. I just wanted the magnaflow sound. My car will be a sunny day driver so it shouldn't matter too much but the mufflers should outlast the pipes.
  8. Wheel show? I'm in! The big brown truck brought me some presents too.
  9. The 309 wire and solar flux is probably the best way to do it but if your exhaust system and muffler is well supported you would be fine with carbon wire. I work for an industrial contractor and we weld carbon to stainless with carbon filler metal in low pressure / non structural applications. We use 309 for more stressed joints. I'm welding in my magnaflows with carbon wire tomorrow, I'll let you know how it turns out.
  10. ^ what he said ^ Good write up Keith! I think I went with a 30" and it was a bit too short so I ended up making a 90* bend at the master with tubing before hitting the braided line. If I do it again I would probably use a shorter braided hose for the flex and run hard tube closer to the slave because my fuel line and brake plumbing make that area pretty crowded. I think there may be something wrong with me because I kinda like running tubing.
  11. Tony, I snagged some swedgelok benders from work and they are the best. Next car I tube will be stainless tubing with swedgelok fittings. Did he flare any of the tubing for A/N fittings?
  12. I think I got it. I was planning to change the Dat gauges to autometers but some things have come up that may force me to pull off the build a little and be a little more economical where I can.
  13. Sorry, I'm asking questions without looking for myself but I'm away from my car right now.
  14. Looking good! Any thoughts on the exhaust system?
  15. Yeah I have that one hooked up, where are you putting that sensor?
  16. Dom, is this to hook up to the factory gauge? Do you still run the LS sensor to the ecu to control your fans?
  17. It seems to me that you have invested a fair amount of money into your diff lately, why would you want to risk damaging it unless you absolutely had too? The only place I would drive it was back to the shop that didn't put the circlips back in. It is kind of a pain to get them in but they really need to be there.
  18. Yeah I have a similar story from NOPI. Im a month or so from finishing my build so its looking like KYBs for the short term. I think I've read Koni has an adjustable option but can't confirm that.
  19. I was thinking about using one and then adding a set of small mufflers or resonators if it were too loud.
