  1. Hey guys, I am gathering parts for my RB25DET build and missing only a few (that I know of, ha). My next bit of confusion is over what fuel cell to get. I was planning on ordering through jegs, and as of now looking at a 15 gallon they have for sale. The specs are: 15-Gallon Fuel Cell 0-90 Ohm Fuel Level Sender Included -08AN Male Outlets Natural Aluminum That guy runs $249. I guess I am wondering what other RB guys are using, so if you have any advice or suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance...
  2. I've got the 16x8s with a +10 offset on my lowered 73 running 225/50/16s. There is a great thread here that goes over the two offsets, but basically +10 you will have to run spacers in the front (like 5mm) to clear the front perch, +4 you will have to roll your fenders. Personally, I had to do both. I have a 7mm spacer on the front and rear, just to flush them out to the edge of the wheel well, I rolled the rear fenders but I still rub a lot. I'll fix it at some point since it is only really a problem if someone else is in the car with me. I can post up some video of the car a little later if you are interested. Edit: Oh, and you may need longer wheel studs like I did as well, not sure on the 280s, but I got some from a 95 nissan quest I believe, rear studs...I can dig up the part number if you need it. Great wheels, pretty inexpensive aggressive eight spoke if you ask me...
  3. I sent you a PM, I am interested in the mounts very much so...
  4. Consider it sold. I am about to buy the motor in the next week or so, just let me know when you want the money. Thanks a lot for the help, this has reduced a lot of the stress from this project...
  5. That all sounds good, I don't have the motor yet, still doing some research and planning. You said you could make motor mounts too? How much would you charge for those? Mckinney charges 475 I think, but if you can do it cheaper I might go with them.
  6. That would be very helpful, how much would you charge? Also, how long do you think the pan will take to complete? So with this pan, will I need anything else to convert it to rear sump? I am absolutley interested, this is the hardest part of the swap so far, granted I haven't even really started haha.
  7. I have a '73 240Z with an L24 that is getting harder to use daily. I have always wanted to swap to RB power and I am now seriously considering it but of course have some reservations. I guess I am in need of some advice from the guys on this board that have done this and know more than I ever will. I want an RB25DET and it looks like I can get the motor, trans, ecu and harness for about $1800. I know I will need motor/trans mounts and a custom driveshaft, which I will get from Mckinney or maybe fabricate. For now I will also have an intake manifold made as the Greddy one is a little rich for my blood. The guy who'll be helping me with this build is very technically able, he was a audi/vw/porshce mechanic and out of the stuff I have run by him, he seems excited to tackle this swap. I have been reading threads on this page like mad, and I am a little unclear on just a few things and want some clarification. You guessed it, the oil pan. I know I need a rear sump. I know that the 200ZR pans are no longer available. What I do not understand is exactly what I need to get and what I need to make. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-RB20DET-RB25DET-RB26DETT-Oil-Pan-New-OEM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c049fbb6cQQitemZ120336661356QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_485wt_1183 Is that the pan I need, and then I need a rear sump? I'm sorry, I know I am asking something that has been asked a thousand times, but if I had found the answer, I wouldn't ask. I have more questions, but this is the one that bugs me every time I think about the swap. I appreciate any help you guys can give me, thanks in advance.
  8. Anyone familiar with this kit? It seems better than the average eBay trash out there, but you never know... I'm looking for a good set of lights for my Z, and anxious to see the classic design headlight in the group buy section, but these none the less caught my eye. Just wondering if either anyone has the kit or just an opinion? It looks decent to my untrained eyes, ha... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-True-HID-Headlight-conversion-240Z-260z-510-280z-JDM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3ca817e1faQQitemZ260518175226QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2504wt_960
  9. Thanks for the info, it took me a while to even find one forum for the cars...and it was practically dead. Aux, how much you want for that beast? Heh...I'll see what kind of convincing I can do...
  10. Hey guys, I have a friend looking seriously at Mazda RX3s, and since this board never ceases to amaze me I was wondering if any of you guys have some good resources for those cars. Good parts suppliers, just general info. Thanks a lot, looking forward to getting him into classic Japanese metal, haha.
  11. I am doing an R200 3.9 swap into my 240z and would love to put a 5 speed in the car at the same time. Any chance any of you guys have a spare one hanging around?
  12. Yea, I did a test fit by removing the passenger seat in the car now and put one of these seats in. I didn't have any rails so it was a little too low, but whatever rails I use will have to be pretty small (probably custom) because if you raise the seats very much at all, they won't fit. I'm gonna talk to a welder and see what we can come up with, at least I want the seats to sit lower than the stock ones do...
  13. Yea, the bolsters on the side aren't as extreme as some of the others, especially the non-recliners, but the wings are the main selling point for me. If I had 3k, I'd get Recaro A8s or something, but alas...
  14. So after some measuring and rough fit tests, I bought the seats. The price was just too appealing. They are comfy, plus the bolsters and wings are totally ridiculous. The logo sucks, but I'd like to get them recovered in red leather one day. Not sure when I will get around to fitting these things in, probably going to run into issues (it's always that way), but I will post some photos as soon anything happens.
  15. From what I can tell, the R32 and R34 seats are pretty close in terms of size, though the R34s are probably a little wider. Do the R32s have a little bit of room left, and how do they sit (too low/high)?
  16. I might be able to pick up a pair of East Bear Sigma seats (same seats that are in an R34 Skyline GTR) for about $500, which is not bad considering two would normally be over $1k. Question is, anyone know of any cars (probably japanese market) with these seats? I know of one, Yuki Komiya's wild VH45DE V8 Z, link here: http://forums.subdriven.com/zerothread?id=2115791 They are in the car there, though I wouldn't be surprised if some wizardry was needed. Plus the photos aren't great... The seller says they are 19" from wing to wing, which I have trouble believing until I see them. Am I right in thinking though, that if that is the case, they should fit (width wise)? I have a '73, forgot to mention that earlier...
  17. Damn Challenger, those wheels look nice on your car. Really like the color combo too...
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions, I have always heard that 3" is too big for NA motors too, but I wanted to confirm it. LowcarbZ: How do you find the performance of your car? I have heard estimates that these modifications should put the car around 170hp, which is not bad number (to me). Is the power more top end, or does it have decent low level response. Thanks again for the info, getting excited about these carbs...
  19. I have not found any specific info here on this, so I figured I would ask. I have a 73', currently stock l24 that I am about to add triple webers to (40s). I will also be putting in a cam (from Z specialities) and headers + exhaust. I am a simpleton when it comes to this sort of stuff, which is embarrassing (especially here, haha) so I apologize for my ignorance. What would you guys recommend for an exhaust on this setup? I want it to sound loud and aggressive but I would prefer more power to presence. Should the exhaust be 2.5" or 3"? Basically, my car is a daily driver and I just want a little more power than stock. I picked up a set of triple webers for a decent price and I have wanted to run them for a while now. Any advice or threads you can point me to would be much appreciated, thanks.
  20. I have a '73 Z that seems to have a loose passenger door because any bump I go over the door squeaks and rattles pretty bad. It has been getting progressively worse the last few months and I do not see anything blatantly wrong with the door. Does anyone have any ideas for this? Would the group buy dovetails do anything? I did search around but I didn't find anything that mentions this issue. I can pull the passenger door from the drivers seat and feel that it has a bit of play. Given that Baltimore has #$&* for roads, I am getting a little worried about this issue. Would be fun though if the door suddenly fell off...already happened once with my steering wheel...
  21. Nice, thanks for that. I will probably take you up on those. I am going to do a little hunting around for some tomorrow, but otherwise (and most likely) I will take those. Where are you located? I need these things by like, wednesday, so let me know what shipping options are available...thanks again
  22. Awesome, got all the studs no problem and they mount up well. Hopefully this is the last question I have to ask you guys, ha. What sort of spacer are you running Challenger and where did you get them? I know you said 7mm, but any recommendations on where to go? I am looking at JEGS' site and they have some baer spacers that are .250" thick, little less than 7mm. Not sure if they fit the bill, and also if i should get some for the rears so they are flush with the fronts...
  23. Sorry to ask so many questions, ha, but I have another. I am guessing the stock lug nuts won't quite fit, so a set of tuner lug nuts will be needed? I noticed that MSA sells a set of them that are 12mm x 1.25, just wanting to double check that they would fit before I buy them. Thanks again, if i get these beasts mounted I will post photos immediately.`
  24. Challenger, You are my hero. Seriously. I just bought a set of these damn wheels and I was at a loss getting them mounted. Seems I didn't do my research correctly, haha. What spacers are you running with these? I have a 73 240z that has been lowered, and it seems like its gonna rub no matter what i do. Do you have any photos of the wheels on your car? I know your setup is gonna be different from mine, but these studs alone made my day. Thanks again.
