I finally landed a job in California, a place I have wanted to move for the past 4 years. I'll be in the San Jose area, a little south of San Francisco. I have visited the area a bunch of times, found some really awesome roads near a town called Ben Lomend and went to the Z car garage, but I would love any suggestions you locals can recommend in terms of nice roads and meet ups. On a side note, anyone have a recommended car transport company? I am driving my Cooper S out, but want my Z as soon as financially possible. I hear there is a cars and coffee meet Saturday mornings at Santana Row, just curious if any Z guys drive out there ever. I am looking forward to the change in scenery immensely, I'm sure I'll see some fellow HybridZers around. Here is a recent photo of my Z:

It does help, I just have a hard time reading schematics.

I installed a new fuse box today, but in the course of doing so uncovered some new electrical gremlins. My park lights no longer work, nor do my console lights. However, when the brake pedal is pushed, the console light comes on very faintly. I have a set of JDM tails that I wanted to install, seems like now is the time since I'm digging through the wiring. The first problem is the connections on the tails do not match the harness at all. I have photos below that show the issue: This is the connection on the main harness: This is the connection on the tails: If I get a connector for the main harness to match the tails, I should be in business. But my confusion really lies in the brake pedal turning on the console lights (faintly). Also, does anyone know the wire color codes for brakes and for turn signals? Thanks

Modified my post a little bit, does anyone have an F54 and P90 combo laying around?

I did read that thread, a lot of good info. For now I'd like to keep things low tech I think, no ECUs yet, like you said that NA sound is enticing. I'll keep my eyes out for a turbo motor though...

I can't remember the exact code, I think the color was alpine white or something like that.

I'm trying to make up my mind as to what to concentrate on next for my Z. The body is pretty solid now, still have some suspension mods that need doing, but power might be the logical next step. I'm really looking for an F54 Block and P90 head setup, I think I'll build the motor slowly, but that is where I want to start. My end goal is to have somewhere in the 200whp range. I'd go turbo, but it'll probably end up costing me more than I want to spend right now. I realize there will be work needed to get to 200whp so I'm not expecting to just buy a motor making that kind of power. I'm located in Baltimore, MD...I'm sure all the good stuff is in Cali, just my luck... Thanks

Thanks for the compliments guys. My fenders are rolled, though they might have to be rolled a tad more. I will be putting in camber plates as well when I install the coilovers. I'm really hoping Rota releases these in 15x9 one day. -

It was for about two years actually, the car never left me on the side of the road either. I can't daily it anymore, east coast roads are a joke, the weather sucks and I'm not a baller. -

Tokico springs and struts package, but it's not low enough for me anymore. I really want to finish gathering the last few parts for my coilover swap, then it'll look better. -

Alright, took a few shots at the big VW show in Ocean City MD this past weekend, I'm hoping to get some better shots when it isn't raining. I really want to drop the car another inch or so, then it would look perfect. -

Looking forward to selling them because I'm broke as a joke haha. -

I put my Vs on, I have to say overall I'm very happy with them. I do have extended studs and at first I wasn't sure the lugs would seat, but they do. Definitely don't need them for these though. The wheel gap is a little too much for me, going to have to do something about it soon. I'll put up some photos tomorrow, I just picked the car up from major body work and it looks as good as it will probably ever. -
Shaw's black SR Z has a pole position in it, which is similar. Here is a link to an article about the car. http://www.superstreetonline.com/featuredvehicles/130_0711_1970_datsun_240z/index.html

Sorry, I bring no form of technical knowledge to this thread so I promise to keep it short. This thread has helped changed my mindset in regards to modding my Z's engine. I originally was going to go RB25, had 90% of the parts but bailed on the project. The more I read these pages the more I realize how much of an idiot I am. I would personally be thrilled with 180-200 at the wheels, and it seems to me that with an L28, SUs and some tuning I could be in that neighborhood. Sure I'd like triples, sure I'd like to go turbo, but money and time aren't on my side. Neither is experience haha. You guys blow me away with your knowledge, I don't want to thread jack anymore than I already have, so I am off to do some more reading and searching. Thanks for the great info posted here, this info is probably stickied throughout HybridZ, but at the very least I'm bookmarking this one.

A 9" would sit pretty flush, no real stretch at all. If the group buy ever happens for these in 9", I'm going to go that route with a 225 or 215. -

I finally got my tires mounted, though they are still some time away from being put on the car. My tire size is 225/50. -
I found an image of the seat in that common snapper Z, good call surfer.tech...I thought that sounded familiar.

Those aren't R34 copies, not even close. There is a company called East Bear that makes R34 replicas, actually a little bit better than the original, I had a set, but those are not them. I kind of like those "Speed" seats over on ZCCJDM, personally I would rather spend a little bit more for a set of legit Brides...

Almost didn't think the wheels were going to come in today, but they showed up at the last minute. They look really nice in person, yhlz you were totally right, photos do nothing for these wheels. It's possible the tires will be mounted tomorrow, but there is no rush as I won't have my car for another 2 weeks... -

My wheels come in today, I've got my tires. I'll try to get them mounted today if possible after work. -

Nice, I'm a little nervous my suspension will be a little high riding too haha. I'm on tokico springs and struts...guess I'll just wait and see. Those wheels look seriously good though. -

They look great, what tires are you running?
