Any info on this car?
DeLorean replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I stumbled onto another forum he belongs to where someone asked him what wheel and tire size he's running. The wheels are actually 8.5 all around, I believe it's a 205 50 16 up front and a 225 50 16 out back. -
Any info on this car?
DeLorean replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You're my hero. -
I have seen this car around before, but looking around has turned up only the same photos. I am almost sure this guy is running 9" watanabe r types in the rear with no flares, which is what I want to do. His plate says Washington, refreshing to know he is local (I don't speak Japanese haha). Thanks for any info you point me towards...

I like the wolf creek kit, but as I understand it the stub axles are still the weak link. The more and more I look at it, the techno toy rear end is seriously enticing...

Thanks John, that's a huge help. I now remember reading about the front diff mount needing to be flipped, but I totally forgot about it. Now all I need to do is get ahold of Ross haha.

I have been reading and gathering parts for an R200 swap and I would love someones clarification, because I have confused the sh*t out of myself. I have a '73 240z, I hope to start an RB25 swap soon and I want to beef up the rear end (pretty sure my halfshafts are nearly cooked anyway). I have the following parts: 3.90 R200 280ZXT CV axles 280z mustache bar 280z companion flanges. I am planning on ordering the conversion package from Modern motorsports, but I have emailed them a dozen times and not had a single response. Am I missing anything aside from the adapter from MM? Do I need 280z stub axles in order to use the 280z companion flanges? Any clarification you guys can provide would be much appreciated, I really hate to post asking for this info, but I'm just not getting it haha... Thanks

I am prepping for a CV swap in my 240z and want to upgrade to 280z CFs. If you have a set PM me the details, thanks. I am located in Baltimore, MD.

Fitting 16x9 Wats under stock rear fenders
DeLorean replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I've found a couple photos that seem to support 8.5s fitting in the rear, which is the direction I might go in. Anyone else have any thoughts? -
I am hoping someone on Hybrid has or knows where to get an S30 fairlady z grille (honeycomb style).

Fitting 16x9 Wats under stock rear fenders
DeLorean replied to DeLorean's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Comfortably, I think you are right. I am running 16x8 -10 offset now with I think a 7mm spacer in the rear, and the tire is pretty flush with the wheel well. I wonder if the right degree of camber and a little stretch on the tire would do the trick though...I am plenty sure a lot of you guys hate the stretched look, can't say that I blame you either because I would love to run a meatier tire. I realize I want the best of both worlds and things just don't work that way. From what I am reading and looking at though, 8.5 in the rear might work. -
First, the obligatory "I searched".
I really did, and I found some interesting stuff, specifically S30TRBOs thread, but I remain unclear on the issue:

Can you fit 16x9 Watanabes (-13 offset) on a stock rear fender (rolled of course, so not totally stock). The car will be running coilovers soon, and the front 16x8 0 offset should fit fine in the front, I just wanted to get some peoples opinions on the matter. Here is an image I found around here of an orange S30 in Japan with what could be 16x9s in the rear without flares, but I can't be sure, I thought I read somewhere it is running 9s.

Thanks for any info you throw my way, photos are always fun for everyone, heh...

I just picked some of this stuff up and i must say, im super impressed by the quality. It's pretty hard to work with too, I tried wrapping a few complex objects and ended up totally ruining it. Having a heat gun definitely helps, makes it conform a little better. Ill throw some photos up if I actually successfully wrap something. You guys should look into getting some, either the carbon or the flat black.

Thanks, i think these cars always look best in white, really shows the lines. I have tokico springs and struts on it, pretty soon going to move to some ground control coilovers. Your'e right, the wheels are 16x8 RB-Rs, maybe one day I'll move on to some wats.

Though not nearly as nice as a lot of the cars on this site, I thought people would still like to see some shots of another classic Z car. I took these today with a friend, it's amazing what a difference a new lens can do. The car is my daily, and of course is still a work in progress. Hopefully I will be able to to migrate into the RB forum as I have a RB25 swap in the works. Despite a badly leaking radiator and leaking fuel line, the car got around all day without any hiccups. Hope you guys like the shots, thanks for looking.

Footage looks great Mark, it looks like you shot that with a Canon DSLR if I'm not mistaken, maybe a 7D or 5D Mark II? It's always exciting to see and hear your car, such an awe inspiring Z car.

What Wheelsize witout zg fenders?
DeLorean replied to RaGnaR_RattmuFF's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Don't know if this info will help you at all, but I am running RB-Rs 16x8 with 225/50/16s and I believe a 7mm spacer in the rear to push it out a little more. I rub on just about any bump, even moderate ones. I'll probably get a smaller spacer in the rear, or if I ever get off my ass and put on my coilovers the problem should be solved. Have you considered modding your suspension to allow a little more meat under the fenders? Ground control coilovers can be had for not a lot of coin, a fraction compared to a set of Wats....just a thought. *edit* my wheels are a +10 offset -
You can get mounts from Mckinney, albeit they are a bit expensive. http://mckinneymotorsports.com/prod_240+260+280Z+parts It would only be hard really if you tried to make them, depends on your fabrication skill I guess. I know I have no chance in making my own, haha. You can also get some frame rails from Baddog parts to stiffen things up a bit. http://www.baddogparts.com/

I am sorry if I am overlooking this info, I swear there was a thread that went over this, but I cannot find it at all. I have an RB25DET, not a NEO, and am curious how to identify what model it is and what car it came out of. I know there is a series 1 and 2, but also these motors came in R32s, R33s and the Stagea. What should I look for to determine what year my motor was made? Thanks for any info on this matter...

Need advice from people who have own Z cars
DeLorean replied to catfat's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
In my senior year of college I got the idea to start looking for my dream car, a DeLorean. When I actually found one and went to look at it I was overcome with lust for the thing and didn't totally think it through. In other words, I bought the car, haha. Do I love owning a car I thought I never might drive? Yes. Do I get a kick out of it every time I am even close to it? Yes. But, do I more than often wish I had waited to buy what is basically a 30 year old "exotic" car? You bet. Didn't learn my lesson soon enough though, cause when I bought my Z it was under similar "lovestruck" circumstances. I think whatever you buy, it needs to be something with character and a be a car that makes you happy EVERY time you drive it. -
Hey RS, Sorry to keep bugging you about this (I sent you a PM, not sure if it went through), but I was wondering if you could tell me the part # for the PRC radiator you have. I know you sent it to me before, but I cannot locate it. Thanks man, really looking forward to getting a hold of the issue with that photo shoot in it...

That teaser looks mean, like desktop background forever mean. Congrats on the photo shoot, I can't think of a better RB25 S30 deserving of it.
-
I hope to be posting here nearly daily soon, my RB25 swap is going to start here at the end of the month. Only missing a few parts, and I have certainly learned the hard way that RB swaps are money pits.
-
As a quick update, I bought one of these from that site, I will let everyone know what the quality is like if they are interested. I'll throw some photos up too... fingers crossed...

I found a site called enjukuracing.com that has a ISIS intake manifold for RB25DETs, essentially it is a knockoff Greddy (Freddy). It seems pretty well priced and from some reviews I have read, the quality is legit. Sorry in advance if I'm posting common knowledge here, also just wondering if any guys here use this manifold in their cars... http://www.enjukuracing.com/isis-intake-manifold-nissan-rb25det-p-8596.html

Listen to RS, the man really knows what he is talking about. I am in the process of swapping in an RB25 and even though I've read nearly every thread I can find, I'm always stumbling on new info. Now, I'm no expert here, but I would have to recommend the 25 if your goal is 400hp, look at a guy named Rob Fuller, he has a sick rb25 Z with 440whp with some realistic mods. There are a couple videos of his car on YouTube, his shop is zcargarage.com... Figure on a bare bones budget of 5k, but that, as I'm finding now, is pretty hard to stay under.
